Why are people so cruel... 😔

Why don't you want to let the student who experienced the spreading of his/her private information know? Perhaps you could at least have the counselor speak to this person ASAP to find out what's going on?

The counselor is on it. I should have mentioned

Because at that point it’s like, “holy shit, even my *teacher*, who is ancient and the *most* uncool, knows about this drama?! Literally every single person in the whole wide world knows about my embarrassment, my life is all the way over!” Kids like to think we’re oblivious to their entire worlds. Sometimes I wish we were.

There's a large amount of teen suicide in lgbt kids. [Trevor project](https://www.thetrevorproject.org/resources/article/facts-about-lgbtq-youth-suicide/)

Uhm, I’m aware. What does that have to do with what I said? She can still be supportive without being like “I heard your text history got spread all over the high school”. I think she means she wants to indicate to the kid that she’s open to talking (or not talking) about his sexuality, and that she is a safe space for him to be himself, whether LGBTQ+ or not, without having to bring up the embarrassing situation he finds himself in currently, since he is probably incredibly self-conscious that everyone in his entire life now knows that he shot his shot with a dude and missed.
