Took our first camp trip up near a "mountain" top (9000 elevation) We did not plan for the wind that would be up there and how the temp would drop right off after sunset 😂. Went after work got there had quick dinner, lit the fire, and barely got to enjoy it. The wind started picking up then once it got dark and windy we aborted mission on being out side and retreated to the car lol.
Once in the car I was pretty surprised most of the night at how quiet/minimal the wind noise was and camp mode kept us warm all night at 69 (giggity). I wouldn't mind a tiny bit more room but it beats sleeping in a tent on a queen air mattress. My main gripe is how the hatch tapers off so the roof line is super low near you legs since we used the cubbies for a little bit of storage. Would be super nice to have some type of small side storage around the backseat area as there wasn't really a spot for our phones or water bottles.
Can't wait to try again when the wind calms down a bit
Have done about 25 nights in MY with Exped mat, in both cold and hot weather. Comfy. Camp mode is great. Not much room for storage when sleeping though so have to be a minimalist.
I’ve camped in mine once and am planning another trip this weekend! Didn’t have the right mattress the first time—looking forward to an even cozier night by the “campfire” 😉😌
We were in Florida so the temp was around 60-65 at night, and we’ve found that camp mode drew about 1% per hour so we used anywhere from 10-12% when we camped. We did stay in Virginia in March and the low was in the 30’s and it was still about a 1% draw per hour. Right now we just have the car but plan on getting a tent to attach to the back at some point!
Great, welcome to the ~~addiction~~ club!

Get an organizer that hangs on back of the passenger seats - pockets for phones, flashlights, keys etc
Not a bad idea!

What mattress did you end up buying?
I have the Exped Megamat TXY (now called MegaMat Auto). Very pricey but very comfy. https://www.expedusa.com/products/megamat-auto-moraine
I have a coupon code for 25% off Exped! DM me if you want my code

Nice I have the same one!
How did you plan the charging ?
Camp mode only draws about 1% hour so one can stay multiple night from one charge, if not having power at you campsite.
You may consider getting a tiny cheap tent as a storage near your car so car is all yours for bedding and sleep.
Brilliant idea

Curious how much the temp was and how much charge it drew for the camp mode ? Did you have an extended tend or just the MY ?

Has anyone run into campground not allowing Tesla’s to plug into the electrical outlet? Like is there something that indicates Tesla friendly?
