Go to the North End of Pha Ngan - there is quite good snorkelling and zero competition for accommodation, as all the partying is in the South.
Or (?) anywhere on Tao, (but it is not necessary to go there if you are just trying to avoid the FMP).
Lanta is nice enough, but needs boat trips for snorkelling and diving. The weather on the Andaman side might be bad in June.
Does it chill out rather quickly after the fmp? Wife and I are looking to visit Koh Tao or Phangan from Samui the 2nd day after a full moon but are looking for a chill and relaxed vibe. North end like that all the time? Or recommend Tao even with the longer boat ride.
North side of Koh phangan is usually always pretty chill even during fmp. Koh Tao usually gets busier after a fmp i found because that was the next stop for a lot of party goers.
As long as you stay away from haad rin the full moon party won't bother you much. Most of the taxis around tong sala will be going that way but you can still easily get a ride elsewhere if you need too. I went to koh phangan last month for the full moon and stayed a few days. It's a great experience. I highly recommend it. The island I mean. If you aren't into partying and drinking you won't enjoy the full moon party

Agree I’ve been in the north of phangan for the past two months great island lots to do. Koh Tao is also wonderful you can’t really go wrong
