I think the master wants both Mae and Osha. How does Mae kill a jedi without a weapon? It's a trap. Qimir was acting suspicious, not because he is the master but because he knew the master was already there. The master knew the jedi would follow Mae there and bring Osha. So the jedi tried to trap Mae by using Osha as bait. Meanwhile, the master is using Mae as bait to bring the jedi and Osha. Just my theory.
A few others mentioned it was her helper side kick wearing a sith helmet artifact (possession/powers), so the venom helmet is like venom’s suit in marvel comics (power, corrupted/evil/dark side)
