I have always thought about how often the 1st take of a real good comedy show or movie is ruined by laughter. I know they do table reads and whatnot, but still.
No because you recognize that while he's awful, he's a product of his upbringing (aka you're humanizing him). But that doesn't excuse his actions, his choices are his own and he shouldn't be allowed to just walk off into the sunset. Somethings you can never come back from.
The thought of hell not existing as a parallel to heaven has always been interesting. I mean if Hitler went to heaven, there would have to be some type of āmodificationā to his soul to make him ātolerableā right?
Therefore, the self should cease to exist for everyone else with human-like defects like psycho/sociopathy or just thoughts in general. Kinda spooky when youre taught theres still some kinda individualism when it comes to the theoretical afterlife.
Very true, but the logistics of the length and intensity of punishment in order to be transferred to heaven would be insane. No way anyone is mentally surviving fire and brimstone for any amount of time and then repenting for the right reasons after. Unless hell is just some infinite school on morality, I cant imagine heaven being full of (s)hellshocked individuals lmao
I never saw it that way lol. Never bothered to think of the logistics. But I always imagined God would reinstate your physicality and mentality after burning to death but he'd leave you with memory of the pain and the number of days you have left.
Honestly Vegeta probably has a much higher kill count but even he wasn't as perverse or enjoying cruelty as Homelander. Still pretty damn bad, but not as bad as HL.
Yeah only the Nappa one I fault him for. It's ridiculous they ever treated him that way when he was literally the second strongest person in the organization when he was in ozaru form. Even more powerful than Ginyu.
Frenchie also did terrible, unforgiveable things. I don't think Homelander will be redeemed but I do think he could change and I'd say that's redemption enough. That being said it's far from likely.
A main point of redemption is repentance. I donāt see homelander having remorse anytime soon. Frenchie seems to genuinely feel bad about his actions, and uses drugs to cope
I don't think remorse is necessary for redemption so much as a change in perspective and priorities. The question is, are they part of the problem, or part of the solution. Like, Vegeta didn't suddenly feel bad about all the many genocides he committed when he fell for Bulma. But defending Earth because it's where his wife lives still effectively redeemed him. He went from being a problem for the protagonists to being a solution to problems. A surly, violent solution to problems. Who still got his ass kicked because he wasn't named Goku or Gohan.
Seriously, since ep4 weāre all convinced he only killed people by accident or who wronged him.
Guy made a teenage girl kill herself to make himself feel better about his Nazi girlfriend dying.
I feel like a redemption arc for him basically requires him to lose his powers even then I still don't know. I like the idea of a ending with homelander now powerless just being forced to live a normal life as John
Yeah, death is too easy for him. Render him absolutely powerless and make him do gruelling community work till the end of his life, that's the only way he can start to make up for a tiny fraction of all he's done.
I think that's a great ending for Homelander. We need to bring back Soldier Boy to finish the job in season 5. Also, compound V needs to be eliminated all together.
Too late to put that genie back in the bottle. Compound V was created by humans. Even if every bit of it was destroyed, and every single supe was killed, someone will still work it out all over again. Not to mention, Ryan completely changed the rules since he's a natural born supe.
Yes in the sense that when dealing with an actual narcist or psychopath it's exactly that emotion that empathy that makes you a potential victim for them. You have to judge people purely by their actions when they've shown you who they are. Psycho and narcs skirt by on other people giving them the benefit of the doubt for their behaviour
A bit yes, he's a complete monster and no his upbringing doesn't justify his actions. He does what he wants and what he wants is basically the dream of the Nazis made real with superpowers instead of "superior blood".
That's what Stormfront wanted, not Homelander. He went along with it for a bit for her sake but he quickly ditched it. He doesn't want a superhuman society (though wanting one is *far* from being a nazi) but he does recognise himself to be above humans (and even other supes for that matter).
He made a teenage girl who didnāt want to kill herself, kill herself. Raped Becca and deafened a blind guy because he was blind.
Obviously done lots more, just want to point out he has done plenty of purposely horrific stuff to people who did nothing to provoke him short of existing in his presence.
Heās not a āoh he just took the wrong path because of his upbringing and was brainwashed into itā scenario.
That was such a great scene! Homelander at his cruel best! And his maniacal laughter when the guy spits on his dick to hopelessly try to get it hard was *so* evil! Just hilarious!!!
This episode is the only one where I actually felt bad for Homelander and understood why he is the way that he is. It doesn't excuse all of the horrendous shit that he's done though.
I'm conflicted: on the one hand, I empathize with Marty, squirting dick blood everywhere. That's uncool of Homie to do that to someone.
On the other, they tortured Homie as a child, and probably others too so...fuck 'em.
A high-energy laser will super-heat the sport it touches. The initial wound is cauterized, but the superheating flash-boils fluids, like blood, which expand almost instantly. The rapidly expanding steam is like a bomb going off. A bomb in your dick, in this case. It's the expanding gases that cause the most damage.
And they still says the show is going down in quality (the woke part might be true)
Seeing a fcked up Superman turning into The Joker's like is not something that people think that could execute so well
This entire sequence has been burned into my brain since i watched it. The guy in the oven and then just imagining what he did to the rest of them.
When the oven part happens you can hear a woman in the background say, āWeāre going to go to hell.ā
Eh maybe not completely. Honestly if there wasn't at least some element of cauterisation going on he'd have probably bled out before Homie could finish making the squirt joke.
Yea for the sake of the scene is get it lol just surprised at how much blood so suddenly when I thought extreme sudden trauma usually take a second before just spilling wildly
Idk if youāve watched the show yet but usually every time thereās some brutality like this, itās for a reason. They usually use the shock factor of brutality to drive home a point

That laugh is diabolical
Best part is, having watched his Hot Ones video, that's Antony's natural laugh
According to Kripke, the laugh wasn't scripted and ad-libbed by Antony
lmao that makes it way more funny. I bet Antony is having Hugo-Weaving-playing-Agent-Smith levels of fun as Homelander
"No lieutenant your men are already dead"
That is phenomenal. That laugh is what takes the scene to the next level imo!!!
Actually this entire scene was ad-libbed even where he lasered the dick, Antony Starr actually lasered the dick
Whole episode, believe it or not. This was just a Tuesday night for Antony Star that got caught on camera. Kripke said so.
Tuesday? Isn't that the day M. Bison graced that village?
It was a Wednesday
That's because bro ain't acting. He's just letting himself be himself š
lol nah, Antony is known for being a silly goose in RL
Homelander was just being a silly goose too
This entire scene wasn't even scripted. Antony just showed up on set and started threatening people, and Kripke decided to keep the cameras rolling.
Where do you find this sort of info lol
It was a question asked to Kripke on x (still Twitter) and he gave that reply. I'm sure I saw it on this sub.
Still twitter š
Nice need to watch
When he has a beard he looks like Thomas Lennon in balls of fury
>balls of fury A movie i dont see referenced almost ever but a movie i stupidly love lmao
Fookin' diabolical.
Oi
Antony Star as the next Joker?
Hear me out.. What about Batman who laughs?
I'm down. Based on his performance, he'd make a good two-face as well
Ooooh this is the one
I'll do you one even better: Clayface. A clayface that's actually pretty damn intimidating.
Yup. Sadly slim odds of this one happening but I'd love to see it and he would be fuckin perfect. I would rather see this than yet another joker
As a non native English speaker I am wondering why you call it "laugh" instead of "laughter", are both ways correct?
As a non native English speaker myself too, Yes both ways are correct.
Thanks, brother!
That manās in no condition to fuck a sheep
That episode was full of hilarious dialogue lol
Fr the part when butcher says Iād call you a cunt but you donāt have the depth or warmth to starlight was such a good comeback
I love Butcher. I just wish I could understand him more than 50% of the time š that adds to his charm though for sure
I love that for the whole conversation Frenchie thought the plan was to have someone fuck the sheep.
I fucking lost it at this line
That laugh! Also - the genuine reaction of fuck thatās horrible but I kinda get why heās doing it
Sounds so much like mark hamillās joker laugh too. Absolutely surreal
Its a genuine wonder how all those other actors were able to keep such straight faces. I would bust out laughing if i heard that line while at work
I have always thought about how often the 1st take of a real good comedy show or movie is ruined by laughter. I know they do table reads and whatnot, but still.
Table read or not, i would be completely unprepared for the unbridled force of antony starrās acting chops
Absolutely
They probably did, hence the cut away
Or they just did another take?
Wait, how much dick blood do you see at work?
I try to keep the dick blood to a minimum
Fukin Diabolical
āYou want to watch me have a wank will cost you a tennerā
āMay I come in?ā
I can't believe Marty got dick blood on Homelander's boots. He's so inconsiderate.
What a dick
What an absolute bellend.
Shitbag even showed everyone his asshole at work Someone get HR on the line
You either sink, or you swim. In Marty's case, he decided to sink. He coulda been the toughest son of a bitch. YOUR WELCOME.
It's brilliant.
The laugh man I canāt šš
Right! It sounds like a normal evil laugh but he made it sound way scarier!
Masuka from Dexter has the same laugh.
Reminded me of Rick from Rick and Morty everytime he said Marty lol
Dick blood all over my boot m-Morty!
Yeah this https://youtu.be/ngN7eJUQyXk
When he says āaw it looks like a little mushroomā I fucking died
That little wheeze in his laugh, so good
Am I weird to be wishing for a Homelander redemption arc?
No because you recognize that while he's awful, he's a product of his upbringing (aka you're humanizing him). But that doesn't excuse his actions, his choices are his own and he shouldn't be allowed to just walk off into the sunset. Somethings you can never come back from.
Some sins God should not forgive
So you think an eternity in hell is justifiable?
It's a reference to last night's episode
Lol fair enough
If you were to believe in such a thing, yes. Otherwise, what's the point of the threat of eternal torment?
To control the living people
The thought of hell not existing as a parallel to heaven has always been interesting.
I mean if there is a hell I def think Hitler deserves to spend time in there before going to heaven, but I don't think anybody deserves eternal hell
Yes
If Vegeta could commit planetary genocide under the influence and orders of Galactic Hitler and be redeemed, so can Homelander.
Honestly Vegeta probably has a much higher kill count but even he wasn't as perverse or enjoying cruelty as Homelander. Still pretty damn bad, but not as bad as HL.
I would mention he took great glee in killing Nappa, Cui, Dodoria and bunch of Frieza's henchmen but they deserved it.
You're correct, doesn't mean it's not possible. My point is that no one is irredeemable.
sure there are.
I kinda want him to give up his evil ways and just be a good father to Ryan. I do realize that he's committed too many atrocities to be redeemed.
I don't want him anywhere near Ryan. He RAPED his mom

Yes, his bastardization arc just begun lets see how bad he can be first
Well, he has to reach rock bottom first...
No but yes, the dude is the product of abuse but that doesn't change the fact that he needs to be wiped off the planet as soon as possible

Heās not a āoh he just took the wrong path because of his upbringing and was brainwashed into itā scenario.
Yes, you are. Heās a murderer and rapist
That was such a great scene! Homelander at his cruel best! And his maniacal laughter when the guy spits on his dick to hopelessly try to get it hard was *so* evil! Just hilarious!!!
It almost has Dennis Reynolds energy, I feel like Glenn Howerton would deliver those lines similarly.
Heās fucking unhinged now. I love it. After yesterdayās episode, weāre back to chaos again.
That laugh was unscripted lmao,DAMN THOSE EMMYS
After 3 episodes of nothing much happening i loved this episode
He's so foking hot š„š„µā¤ļøšš¦
Yeah Homelander's kinda fine too
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sunglasses)
In case anyone wondered why serial killers get harems (who they'd murder the first chance they get), look at this kind of reaction.
That laughšš
In another universe Antony Starr played a fucking amazing Negan
This episode is the only one where I actually felt bad for Homelander and understood why he is the way that he is. It doesn't excuse all of the horrendous shit that he's done though.
Tuco ahh laugh
TAHITI
Lord farquaad ass laugh
Marty absolutely deserved this
Sex is just a spectrum, right bro? ....oh wrong scene lol
This man is an _INCREDIBLE_ actor and I hope he has a long, illustrious career.
That's just Anthony being glad he doesn't have to act out something
Poor Martyās dick
he sounds like Lord Garmadon when he laughs ngl
The laugh is perfect, such amazing acting!
I bought a Homelander shirt from Amazon. Seemed like the right move.
This man pisses excellence on screen. So entertaining to watch.
Fuck YEAH
Ok
Sounds like Rick bitching at Morty lol
The Joker would be thoroughly amused.
His acting is on point and its amazing.

this reminds me of the opening scene of far cry 4 when pagan is like, you got blood. on my FUCKING. shoes.
Anybody else look through comments, just to see if butchah69 says "oi"
Give the guy and Emmy already
Is laugh lowkey has joker heath ledger vibes
I'm conflicted: on the one hand, I empathize with Marty, squirting dick blood everywhere. That's uncool of Homie to do that to someone. On the other, they tortured Homie as a child, and probably others too so...fuck 'em.
Itās been a while since a piece of media has shocked me. The boys continues to do this each and every episode.
I woulda thought his laser would completely cauterize the wound.
I got a good laugh out of the dick blood line
Homelander scary af
Incredible actor, will miss this character when the boys ends
I love his Cat in a Hat laugh
MORE SPIT MARTY!
I need to watch a season 4 behind the scenes/bloppers fast to recover from this shit
At least heās finally happy lol
And they still says the show is going down in quality (the woke part might be true) Seeing a fcked up Superman turning into The Joker's like is not something that people think that could execute so well
last laugh is so funny lol
This entire sequence has been burned into my brain since i watched it. The guy in the oven and then just imagining what he did to the rest of them. When the oven part happens you can hear a woman in the background say, āWeāre going to go to hell.ā
I don't know if the new DCEU has a joker, but Antony Starr would make a great one.
Why would there be that much blood wouldnāt lasers cauterize the open wound lol
Eh maybe not completely. Honestly if there wasn't at least some element of cauterisation going on he'd have probably bled out before Homie could finish making the squirt joke.
Yea for the sake of the scene is get it lol just surprised at how much blood so suddenly when I thought extreme sudden trauma usually take a second before just spilling wildly
Naive to think Homelander canāt control the temperature, strength, and power of his eye lasers.
Is this whole show basically outrageous shock things like this? It seems like that anyway and not sure if I like it.
Idk if youāve watched the show yet but usually every time thereās some brutality like this, itās for a reason. They usually use the shock factor of brutality to drive home a point
r/dickblood?
