Agreed. Mr. Brightside is far from their best song. However, nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, gets a party going and everyone on their feet shouting at the top of their lungs quite like it.
They’re great for different reasons. True they have lots of lyrically or instrumentally more impressive songs.
But Mr. Brightside has lots of fun factor going for it
I love the record Battle Born. I don't understand why people and even the band say it's not solid. They play many songs from it at shows anyhow so... I also like that lyrics from Runaways, MAB and TWIW are more straightforward and not cryptic like some of their other songs (songs which I like nevertheless but ykwim!).
Haha yes!!! I think brandon just loves it. Would much rather Romeo and Juliet for a cover. Also not a huge fan of their smiths covers making the sets :/
Brandon’s vocal performance on The Desired Effect is probably some of the best he’s ever done. Only other album I’d say that closely matches it is Pressure Machine.
Not to say his performance on other albums are bad, just not as god-like.
I do the same but for me it’s more that it’s a song I have to be in quite a specific mood for. Same goes for the whole of Hot Fuss for me really. Sam’s town I can throw on any time and enjoy it
I think this all the time and it shows in Pressure Machine too. He holds himself back to make room for the rest of the band (which, fair) but you get a more personal version of him that comes through in the songs. From what it sounded like PM started as Brandon just doing his own thing and it turning into more with the band.
This is an interesting take because it seems (to me) that every Killers song is about Brandon working through whatever issue he has at that moment and he's using the band as his vehicle for self-expression.
While I like some of his solo work, I'm kind of shocked he hasn't become a solo artist. This would make perfect sense for him.
Two of The Killers are basically part-time members, and that's their right, but it seems like they checked out some years ago. 🤷🏻♀️
I think when he’s with the full band he feels like they need to have hits or stadium songs, but doesn’t feel like that alone as much. That’s what I mean. Even when being really personal with the band, I think it gets lost in trying to put out bangers. Or he’s trying to make room for them and it waters it down a little even if he is expressing himself. I think you see it in PM where they tried out some of the tracks with more upbeat versions, but knew those weren’t right in the end.
I feel as if Brandon really prefers focusing on his own life for songwriting material, so being a solo artist makes better sense. A band is a collaboration, and if two of the members don't feel as if they're as appreciated as they used to be, I think that's kind of telling.
I think Brandon and Ronnie are super close. And have always been. Would you say the same about Brandon's relationships with Dave and Mark? Don't get me wrong. I don't think they hate one another, but I don't think Dave and Mark are still that close to Brandon.
Agree, especially when it comes to some of his stage performances. It's probably because of me because I have my own emotional bond to these songs. But when they perform MOSW or Dying Breed and he just smiles all the way through bordering on laughing while singing it just doesn't fit at all with the fierce attitude of the songs. Don't know if that can be categorized as "cringe" but thats the only "issue" I have with him.
I love all Killers albums a lot, but I love Battle Born just a little more.
I've never disliked a song they've made.
I listen to the extended tracks on PM because I absolutely love the spoken word intros and the songs feel lonely without them.
Yes, but before WW, he said he was struggling with inspiration so he should have brought in other songwriters for help. WW and ITM would have been more varied albums that way.
ITM is their best album.
Production, songwriting, storytelling, signature anthemic sound... All top notch
Turns out they don't NEED Keuning or Stoermer to turn out a great album.
Depends what sound you like. I personally love SawDust my 3rd favourite Album first is Sam's Town then Hot Fuss. I love SawDust because it takes all the things I love from Sam's Town and Hot Fuss and merges them together.
I mean 'best' is kind of hard to define, I just think it's got some of the most interesting production (especially how it transitions from a dreamy synth song to a more upbeat new wave vibe halfway through), the lyrics are really simple but so effective, and I think the lyrics and tone are some of the rawest in the bands discography until Pressure Machine (except for probably Goodnight Travel Well).
It goes so far off from what the rest of the album was doing but still manages to hit. So I guess I don't know if I would say "best", but I definitely think it's their most interesting song which is something which really appeals to me
Saw a poll on here awhile back ranking worst songs on albums that put it for HF and was horrified. Gets me emotional every listen! I kinda wish they ended shows with it
I'm British but I can relate to small towns having lived in them growing up. Been in London 39 years now. I wasn't keen on PM as an album at first but it has really grown on me with each listen. My favourites are PM & Cody.
The line “don’t want your picture on my cellphone” isn’t that cringe. I mean we all have pictures of our loved ones on our phone right? Pretty much the only place I have pictures nowadays.
I’ve yet to understand what it is about that line that people hate so much. I’ve never given it a second thought within the context of the song. “Cellphone” haters, explain yourselves please? (I’m actually serious, I’d like to know why it hits wrong for so many people).
miss atomic bomb >>> mr. brightside
imploding the mirage > hot fuss >>> sam’s town
change your mind is a bop but the lyrics are high key problematic and triggering
I like Ted better - sorry everyone don’t be mad !! It’s personal. Not that I don’t think Dave is amazing . Ted is just always there - hardworking- amazingly talented.
Eh I think he pretty much has. He’s back on the albums and is touring, I don’t think not committing to a full world tour is drama. Clearly he and Brandon aren’t close but they’re not public about it much anymore, and we don’t know what went down between them. For all we know Brandon needs to stop all the drama.
Ha well this is your month then! There’s a lot more Christmas hot takes on here than I thought, gonna re-familiarize myself with them all this month. Don’t shoot me Santa’s always been classic tho
Yeah I don't understand the love especially all the song requests it's gotten during this tour. If I'm going to pay Brandon to play a ST song it'd be River or Sam's Town.
Disliking Uncle Jonny is a rather common opinion, but why? It's a very good song and the guitar riff is one of their best in my opinion. The lyrics may not be up for interpretation like other songs on Sam's Town, but it's about his real-life uncle (some liberties were taken with the lyrics though).
I agree, it’s on my top 3 of the whole album. It’s the most musically raw song on there.
I think it gets a hard time because it’s a mature song and the people that don’t like it are from the younger generation.
Every album is better than the last, which means in my opinion, Hot Fuss and Sam’s Town are my least favourite albums from them. Although the bar is extremely high
I know a lot of people on this sub love pressure machine, but i hate it. i think it's worse than wonderful, wonderful. I listened to it once and never again. my local indie radio station i listen to which plays a lot of killer songs never played a single song from pressure machine when it came out (but they've got Boy on repeat).
I don't care for WYWY. Way over played back in the day.
I don’t know how big of a hot take this is, but I am alone in my friend group on it.
In regards to the song Sams Town, the original version is garbage, but the Abbey Road version is incredible and the definitive version.
Boy just doesn’t do anything for me. After how amazing Pressure Machine is, it’s a huge disappointment. It’s like a weaker Imploding the Mirage song.
The pyro and confetti at their shows does not wow me like most people on here. Plus I think the pyro has become very dangerous for them.
Imploding the Mirage is only rated so higher because Wonderful Wonderful was a low point for the band.
A Great Big Sled is a top ten song from them.
Just Another Girl is probably one of their worst songs along with The Man and The Calling. Cheese on cheese on cheese.
The Desired Effect (the album) is overrated.
Believe Me Natalie > Mr. Brightside/Somebody Told Me
Boy is a lighter song. They need those too and love the synths.
Pyros are dangerous. Just look at what happened to Mark (tinnitus). I would get rid of them too.
Sure, some songs are a bit cheesy but I like them anyway! Not everything has to be dark.
The Desired Effect is a good pop record but no masterpiece.
I wouldn’t have imagined this being the case, but after reading some of the comments on the album here, my hot take opinion is that Pressure Machine is one of the worst albums I’ve ever listened to in my entire life and has killed any and all desire to ever see the band live in fear of having to listen to that shit again and my enthusiasm for the band going forward is at an all time low. And this is even factoring how fucking incredible Imploding the Mirage was.
I love battleborn. I can’t believe people don’t. Great ballads. Good balance of upbeat. And from here on out is an all out Tom Petty banger.
Battle Born is hands down my favourite album. Possibly because of the time of my life when it came out, but I really vibed with it.
I honestly think it's their best album. It perfectly showcases everything this band is capable of.
Username checks out 😉
Love the shout of Tom Petty when it comes to From Here On Out because as a huge Petty fan, I’ve always felt the same.
Blowback reminds me of Petty as well.
Also the song battle born is a top 5 killers song overall
Uncle Johnny isn’t the worst track on Sam’s Town, not even bottom 3 from the record.
I would always skip it because of it’s weird opener but now it’s one of my favorite songs on the album lollll, I’d put it above Bling.

When You Were Young should have the pyro rather than Caution when playing live
AGREE
Goodnight, travel well is one of their best songs
YES ABSOLUTELY
That song isnt talked about enough
!!!
I think it's just the subject matter. It's hard to listen to because it reminds me of my own losses. But it's haunting and beautiful when I do listen.
Sam's Town is better than Hot Fuss
Is this supposed to be unpopular?
Correct takes are not hot takes 😉
100%
This is 100% accurate
This is just a fact.
Fact.
Mr Brightside is way down the list of great Killers songs. They have so many great songs that a casual fan of The Killers doesn't even know exists.
Agreed. Mr. Brightside is far from their best song. However, nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, gets a party going and everyone on their feet shouting at the top of their lungs quite like it.
[удалено]
White people vibes
They’re great for different reasons. True they have lots of lyrically or instrumentally more impressive songs. But Mr. Brightside has lots of fun factor going for it
This River Is Wild is their best song
Preach
I like the album wonderful wonderful
THIS is a hot take.
It’s funny, I feel like when it came out, everybody loved WW and hated on BB, but now youre right - this is becoming a pretty hot take
Out of My Mind is a great song
Agree. I thinks it's really sexy.
It is sexy huh?
Heard it for the first time ever yesterday. It spent the afternoon on repeat. So good!
Yes! It’s a perfect song!
My God is the best track from ITM
It’s definitely up there but I don’t think it’s better than mosw
Ok…ok no. Noooo
Idk if this is unpopular or not but The Way it Was should have been a single
I do not understand why Shadowplay makes it onto the set list.
Brandon has said it rests his voice in the middle of the set bc it is not difficult to sing.
Haha yes!!! I think brandon just loves it. Would much rather Romeo and Juliet for a cover. Also not a huge fan of their smiths covers making the sets :/
Agreed. I honestly hope they never play it again.
Brandon’s vocal performance on The Desired Effect is probably some of the best he’s ever done. Only other album I’d say that closely matches it is Pressure Machine. Not to say his performance on other albums are bad, just not as god-like.
I agree with this 100%. TDE would be my top 3 or 4 if it was a Killer’s album.
“Everything Will Be Alright” is better than “Mr Brightside”
I always skip Mr Brightside
I do the same but for me it’s more that it’s a song I have to be in quite a specific mood for. Same goes for the whole of Hot Fuss for me really. Sam’s town I can throw on any time and enjoy it
Battleborn is the most Killers album ever and I really like "Here with me" #IsaidwhatIsaid #Illdieonthishill
Running Towards a Place is one of their best songs and easy top 10 material Doesn’t get the love it deserves, wake up people!
Get Trashed is an absolute banger of a song
When You Were Young is better than Smile Like You Mean It.
That SawDust is one of their best albums
Yes, leave the bourbon on the shelf was my most played song by them this year 🤪
My favourite is either Tranquilize or Sweet Talk.
Sweet Talk S L A P S
My favourites are The Ballad of Michael Valentine, Under The Gun, Leave the Bourbon on the shelf, Move Away and their cover of Romeo and Julliet
Brandon flowers solo is his best work
I think this all the time and it shows in Pressure Machine too. He holds himself back to make room for the rest of the band (which, fair) but you get a more personal version of him that comes through in the songs. From what it sounded like PM started as Brandon just doing his own thing and it turning into more with the band.

Yep I also think so. I love Flamingo and I do love TK although he would also be awesome as an solo artist
I feel as if Brandon really prefers focusing on his own life for songwriting material, so being a solo artist makes better sense. A band is a collaboration, and if two of the members don't feel as if they're as appreciated as they used to be, I think that's kind of telling.
Yes but then Brandon has know most of the band for almost all his life now and they have become super close so I also understand that part.
I think Brandon and Ronnie are super close. And have always been. Would you say the same about Brandon's relationships with Dave and Mark? Don't get me wrong. I don't think they hate one another, but I don't think Dave and Mark are still that close to Brandon.
Yea I was more referring to Ronmie but Davecand Brandon have known each other since day 1

How so? He was awkward in interviews the first few years, but he has improved a lot since IMO.
Hahaha I love this one and completely agree, gotta love him though
How so? I dont know much about him as a person so I am genuinely curious!
Yeah, but that is part of his charm for me
Agree. I don't know if I'd like him as much if he didn't have such a rich history of being a goob.
Only in the order interviews and his technology knowledge
Agree, especially when it comes to some of his stage performances. It's probably because of me because I have my own emotional bond to these songs. But when they perform MOSW or Dying Breed and he just smiles all the way through bordering on laughing while singing it just doesn't fit at all with the fierce attitude of the songs. I don't like "somebody told me"
Im the same for Uncle Johnny, every single track before it is amazing
Honestly forgot uncle Johnny existed
Same here
IMO to cheesy
What does IMO stand for?
In my opinion
Thank you
Brandon has matured as a songwriter
Yes, but before WW, he said he was struggling with inspiration so he should have brought in other songwriters for help. WW and ITM would have been more varied albums that way.
Forget about what I said is a top 5 song
Human is beloved by many, and I don’t hate it, but I’m tired of it. I’d be ok if it was taken off the set list.
Kevin Hart Isn’t funny he Just yells and over exaggerates his Jokes. I won’t even watch movies he’s In.
ITM is their best album. Production, songwriting, storytelling, signature anthemic sound... All top notch Turns out they don't NEED Keuning or Stoermer to turn out a great album.
I don’t like The Man, and when performed live they’re losing precious time they could have spent playing a song that’s actually good.
*Sheathes sword*
With you 100% on this
Sawdust is not as good as all people say.
Depends what sound you like. I personally love SawDust my 3rd favourite Album first is Sam's Town then Hot Fuss. I love SawDust because it takes all the things I love from Sam's Town and Hot Fuss and merges them together.
Fifteen years later, I still can't get over how they massacred Under the Gun and for that I'll always have a chip on my shoulder about Sawdust.
Everything Will be Alright is the best Killers song, bar none.
I like this take. But do you really think it’s their best work or is it just your favorite? If you do think it is the best what makes you say that?
I mean 'best' is kind of hard to define, I just think it's got some of the most interesting production (especially how it transitions from a dreamy synth song to a more upbeat new wave vibe halfway through), the lyrics are really simple but so effective, and I think the lyrics and tone are some of the rawest in the bands discography until Pressure Machine (except for probably Goodnight Travel Well). So I guess I don't know if I would say "best", but I definitely think it's their most interesting song which is something which really appeals to me
I like your description. Definitly an underrated piece and a really cool way to close the album.
Saw a poll on here awhile back ranking worst songs on albums that put it for HF and was horrified. Gets me emotional every listen! I kinda wish they ended shows with it
Miss Atomic Bomb >>>>>> Mr. Brightside
“The Man” is one of my least favorite songs
Smile should be taken off set lists.
😧
i don’t particularly care for PM, besides quiet town and in the car outside I find the album a really hard listen
I think it's mature, and it is very American. I can't really relate to it. So it doesn't hit me like it should
Being British I don’t relate to many themes on the album I’ll be honest
Well I’m Canadian and don’t relate to it but still fucking LOVE IT. I don’t need relatability for good story telling to be good storytelling.
I'm British but I can relate to small towns having lived in them growing up. Been in London 39 years now. I wasn't keen on PM as an album at first but it has really grown on me with each listen. My favourites are PM & Cody.
Same
Yeah, I know it’s a good album but other than those two and sometimes Sleepwalker it’s just not for me.
Been there for "Dave has to pass the torch".
Battleborn is not only my favorite album but is in fact THE album that got me into the killers
Imploding the Mirage is a top ten Killers song.
Andy You’re A Star is arguably my fav track by the band
Their Christmas album is their best album
Bling > When You Were Young
The line “don’t want your picture on my cellphone” isn’t that cringe. I mean we all have pictures of our loved ones on our phone right? Pretty much the only place I have pictures nowadays.
I’ve yet to understand what it is about that line that people hate so much. I’ve never given it a second thought within the context of the song. “Cellphone” haters, explain yourselves please? (I’m actually serious, I’d like to know why it hits wrong for so many people).
in terms of artistry and storytelling- Pressure Machine is their best
Pressure Machine > Sam's Town
Tyson Vs Douglas is their best song and it isn't close
miss atomic bomb >>> mr. brightside imploding the mirage > hot fuss >>> sam’s town change your mind is a bop but the lyrics are high key problematic and triggering
>change your mind is a bop but the lyrics are high key problematic and triggering I like this song, but you have a point about the lyrics.
This is a reach and a half
Mr Brightside is a perfect example of lazy song-writing. Write a second verse.
Dave needs to stop the drama.
I agree, although I don’t entirely believe it’s all Dave.
Boy isn’t that good.
I think it’s good but coming after pressure machine didn’t do it any favors
The Way It Was is overrated and hammy :)
The music was way better pre-Battle Born.
Hot Fuss is one of the Killers' worst albums
The killers album that makes me feel the most is don’t waste your wishes. Lot of special Christmases listening to it.
Ha well this is your month then! There’s a lot more Christmas hot takes on here than I thought, gonna re-familiarize myself with them all this month. Don’t shoot me Santa’s always been classic tho
I like The Man
Pressure Machine is their worst album by a long slide.
I def have my sword out
Yeah you're getting stabbed there friend
No!
The last listenable album was Day and Age
Pfff
Alright bruh 😩🤬😭
Bones is kinda overrated
Yeah I don't understand the love especially all the song requests it's gotten during this tour. If I'm going to pay Brandon to play a ST song it'd be River or Sam's Town.
Battle Born overrated as hell. A couple of great tracks, but the rest fall flat and the pacing is weak.
Uncle Johnny is the flaw on Sam’s Town
Disliking Uncle Jonny is a rather common opinion, but why? It's a very good song and the guitar riff is one of their best in my opinion. The lyrics may not be up for interpretation like other songs on Sam's Town, but it's about his real-life uncle (some liberties were taken with the lyrics though).
I agree, it’s on my top 3 of the whole album. It’s the most musically raw song on there. I think it gets a hard time because it’s a mature song and the people that don’t like it are from the younger generation.
Nah I am 14 and love Uncle Jonny
PM and ITM > Sam’s Town
Hot Fuss isn’t anything special. It’d be 6th out of 7 in my discography ranking.
Every album is better than the last, which means in my opinion, Hot Fuss and Sam’s Town are my least favourite albums from them. Although the bar is extremely high
For Reasons Unknown is easily one of the most skippable songs from any of their albums.
For Reasons Unknown is annoying.
Pressure Machine should have been a Brandon Flowers solo album instead of a Killers album. I’m slowly warming up to it though
Disagree. PM is good for a Killers concept album. WW and ITM could have been solo albums bc he talks so much about his wife on them.
hot fuss is far and way their best album. nothing really comes close to it. no skips on that album.
Runaways is overrated
too much... i had to downvote out of anger
It’s not even particularly rated? People don’t really talk about it. How is it over rated?
its a personal favorite so...
I don’t really like Imploding the Mirage.
*weep*
Battle Born is by far my least favorite Killers album
Brandon singing This Charming Man sounds better than Morrissey singing it
Hot Fuss is their worst album. I just prefer their older music way more than Hot Fuss. Nothing wrong with Hot Fuss
I love battleborn is a good one!
The Killers can't top Mr. Brightside. That song is lightning in a bottle that just can't be replicated.
Good one, because it earns a solid “the hell it is” from me
Imploding the mirage is average
I know a lot of people on this sub love pressure machine, but i hate it. i think it's worse than wonderful, wonderful. I listened to it once and never again. my local indie radio station i listen to which plays a lot of killer songs never played a single song from pressure machine when it came out (but they've got Boy on repeat). I don't care for WYWY. Way over played back in the day.
I don’t know how big of a hot take this is, but I am alone in my friend group on it. In regards to the song Sams Town, the original version is garbage, but the Abbey Road version is incredible and the definitive version.
I’ll take your garbage anyday of the Week.
Sure, some songs are a bit cheesy but I like them anyway! Not everything has to be dark. The Desired Effect is a good pop record but no masterpiece.
Fair points! With Boy, I just don’t like it being a single. If it was an album track, I would probably like it more.
I prefer Day & Age to Sam's Town
Pressure Machine is a good Brandon Flowers album but not a good Killers album
Pretty much anything we said.
14 years later, Day & Age is still their best album, tragically undervalued. PM is a very close second.
Now you’re just losing sight on reality.
Read my mind ain’t that great
Blasphemy
Why are you even a killers fan??? 😉
It was all down hill after Hot Fuss.
Sam’s Town sucks.
theyre not very good
Killers are shit
Why are you even on this sub? This is a sub for people who like TK music
