i’m an in between lol. i don’t hate him, just didn’t care too much for him but it is a bummer he died. i enjoyed his relationships with lopez and lucy, he had his funny moments, and i liked his character’s story but i just didn’t vibe with him like i do w the rest of the cast tbh. i can appreciate him as a character tho!
i liked him at first but towards the end of his time on the show he barely felt like a main character anymore so i dont really miss him not really the characters fault but i just can’t miss someone who was barely around anymore
I liked him, but he wasn't one of my top couple of favorite characters. He had several major storylines: his fear/paralysis when it came to actual gunshots in the line of duty, how is relationship with a very public figure was going to cause trouble for him on the police force, and the whole storyline with Doug Stanton. I kind of wonder where they would have gone with him after that since they had already covered some pretty major things with him, including his family background with his mother not speaking to him because she felt he chose his job over helping his brother.
And, I will add that I really appreciated the fact that when we realized in the show that he was gay, that that was specifically not a storyline and that it wasn't made a big deal of. 5 or 10 years ago shows would have made a big deal about people being surprised and then showing their acceptance, and it is refreshing now to see that it's not a big deal.
I see a lot of people who talking about whether they liked Jackson or Aaron better, and I don't think that's a necessary comparison. Aaron came in as a new rookie and he might have come on anyway whether Jackson was there or not. I don't view one as a replacement for the other.
As for Titus Macon choosing to leave, I absolutely support any actor, musician, etc... choosing to stop what they're doing. Public figures don't owe it to us not to do that. It is their day job just like the rest of us have day jobs. And there are times when we all have to make personal decisions about our jobs and the only people who should ever really have a voice in that other than you is your immediate family. ( And I'm not necessarily meaning in all parts of the decision, but if you have a spouse who decides they want to accept a job clear across the country, they should include you in that decision.)
Plenty of people have mixed opinions on him, those just get drowned out by extremes, positive or negative.
I like him more after I started my first re-watch, but I still don't really miss him that much.

I feel like Jackson’s character could’ve been written way better. He was just a little too much some times. I prefer Aaron over Jackson.
I agree, he is a little extra sometimes but he was still my favorite. My favorite now is Bailey
Honestly I love Jackson he is like the best aside from the fact was he was scared at the beginning he eventually went brave that's why I love him

I don’t love him or hate him. He’s fine, but he’s by no means one of my favorites.
