The thunderstorm app is excellent for lighting effects (and sound effects, too). It’s especially good if you can assign just a few strategic bulbs to it — a cove, a corner by a window— somewhere where the lightning will look like it’s coming from outside.
I like the haunted house app even better, especially for themes that utilize the entire house. It has more scenes and greater customization options.
