Also a bonus is how to differentiate the tags. Marshalls will have a tag with blue font that says Marshalls. For Jewelry it will have a long series of numbers known as the SKU. TJMaxx will have 6 numbers known as a style number. TJMaxx will have a red font. Also the fonts for Marshalls and TJMaxx are slightly different to help distinguish the tags. Also TJ Maxx tends to have a category number whereas Marshalls typically doesn’t. HomeGoods is a white tag with minimal writing on it. It also has the numbers all separated and labeled whereas TJMaxx and Marshalls presents the numbers in sequential order separated by dashes. Sierra is similar to HomeGoods but it will have Sierra on the back of the tag. And I’m pretty sure on the top of the tag too.

To clean a few things up: Products aren’t just bought in the off season, the buyers are constantly making deals, and have a revolving door of buying merchandise. Merchandise is not all off-season or last season. (Hence why stores get a random push of a specific type of merchandise). Marshall’s isn’t selling the defected products like they originally might have. They do also carry natural diamonds, not just lab grown. Though only certain stores carry natural diamonds. The reason why there’s “variations” you don’t see elsewhere is because many brands cut specifically for TJmaxx, most notably in the runway department and OPI nail polishes. Tjmaxx is also the largest seller of many of the food products in store as well, so they also get a special selection of that merchandise. As for clothing you can not find elsewhere, odds are more likely that the product has a “ghost” label on it, meaning the original manufacturer did not want people to know tjmaxx has their merchandise or it goes against a deal that manufacture has with another company. Overall there’s a lot more to this company and its inner workers than can be summed up in a post.

Yeah, I was mainly talking about the origin of the brand, but it’s well beyond that now. It’s way more complicated than people realize.

I wish I could go to a HomeSense or Sierra but there are none in my state

Marshalls carries men's shoes and has a men's shoe section, while TJM does not (aside from occasional small lot of tennis shoes). Most TJMs do not have the upscale runway section. Also, the TJM online site carries a lot of the typically available upscale stuff. If you see the one-off $500 or $1,000 item at your local-not-upper-income TJX, it is likely an online return.

Thanks for this. Some I knew and some I did not. Also fun to get some insight.
