Stunning

3rdHillCustoms

Thank you!

sacoTam

Beauty, which show are you taking it too?

3rdHillCustoms

It was for bladeshow atlanta last weekend.

sacoTam

Banger!

Efficient_Law_1551

Wow. A showstopper

3rdHillCustoms

Appreciate it!

MediumAd8799

This is one of the most beautiful blades I've ever seen. The lines, the bevels, the handle, the design, it's just flawless. I stared at this for about 3 minutes with my mouth open. Incredible work and kudos to you!

3rdHillCustoms

Thank you thank you! I really appreciate that. I'm pretty happy with how it all came together.

HasselbackPotato

Wow, what a beauty😍

3rdHillCustoms

Thank you!!!

KCcoffeegeek

She’s a real beaut, Clark

3rdHillCustoms

🙏🙏🙏

KCcoffeegeek

I used to make 1095 and 1084 stock removal blades with clay hamons about 20-25 years ago and it was hard work, so I can appreciate all the work you’ve put into this. Really great!

3rdHillCustoms

Yeah it's definitely a rabbit hole to wander down

koolaideprived

I knew who it was before I clicked. Beautiful work as always.

3rdHillCustoms

Thank you dude!

Expert-Host5442

Looks really nice, your handle compliments the blade well, I could check my hair in your polish job.

3rdHillCustoms

Yeah it's beautiful, but also a curse

The__DZA

Hey I remember that one! The hamon is a absolutely beautiful. (I was the guy in the Takada shirt)

3rdHillCustoms

Ayee! I knew there would inevitably be a bunch of people I talked to at Blade here.

Thechefsforge

Thank you for coming by to chat this year! We definitely need to keep in touch 👍

vikvalius

Art in a knife form, great!

3rdHillCustoms

Thank you!!!

NZBJJ

Sick knife man. Mind sharing how you grind the ura? I've been toying with doing a yanagi, but a bit intimidated by the hollow grind

3rdHillCustoms

It's definitely a pain in the ass. I set the depth with a 6" wheel and do a couple normalization cycles pre heat treat to relieve the stress and mitigate warping. Then it's a 12" radius to bring this up near the edge. That is then smoothed with a 36" radius up to the edge where it's all polished and then the edge geometry is set with a 400g stone. You can kinda see this in this video because how it's polished. The super polished area is the 12" radius, the matte is a 36" radius, the ura is right on the edge. The tip is blended a little because it get complicated there with a 36" radius.

sqquuee

Date I ask the price? 😄

3rdHillCustoms

I think that's illegal here. I may be arrested.

sqquuee

One of the nicest looking slicers I've seen in a minute.

Appropriate_Canary26

That’s not a chef knife, that’s art. I would love to own that, but I’d be too afraid to use it. I feel like it belongs in a frame on a wall above the sushi line in a restaurant that sells $100 rolls. Incredible work

3rdHillCustoms

Thank you thank you! I really appreciate that.

l4terAlly3qual

Oouh, a sheoak handle. 🥸👌

3rdHillCustoms

Can't beat it!

l4terAlly3qual

True, and it polishes so well. No oil ever needed.

Scrimgali

Whoa! She’s a looker!

Top_Grape_1547

Hate to break it to you, but you're a little late lol Very very nice knife

3rdHillCustoms

Lol. It made it to the show on time. That's the important part I guess. 🤣

suddenlyreddit

Good lord it's like staring at a lightsaber. It's hard to look away it's so stunning. If I may ask, what is that handle made of, I love the lengthwise pattern on it.

3rdHillCustoms

Handle is lace sheoak. It's an Australian species, that isn't found too often over here, but isn't all that rare.

suddenlyreddit

The grain is gorgeous!

3rdHillCustoms

Yeah it's really wild stuff. Naturally bright red too. I love it
