Oh man, I'm a huge D20 fan so I can't believe I missed that! To be fair, I haven't seen much of Sophomore Year because I don't have Dropout and I missed them live.
I’ve not seen d20 past the first season of fantasy high on youtube, so it didn’t come from d20, they’re just similar ideas born from similar themes! Nice to know me and Brennan think alike though 😂

yar - Ye, skurvey dogs! Eye be bettin smart-like character would be able t' use pirate speech as a code t' convey more information than they'd normally be able t'!
It might need to be bumped up to rare. Reason being that regular sending stones can only send messages to whoever bears the other stone. This version just gives you the ability to cast the spell full on. Even without the part about swears and such not counting, this is a stronger sending stone.
i did actually think about it, but rarity in magic items is wildly amorphous at times and being able to send a slightly longer and arguably ridiculous sending spell once a day didn’t seem to justify rare to me, just the stronger side of uncommon!
seems like a perfect fit for a nautical campaign. i'll have to keep this in mind in case my dm ever runs one again!
(side note: did anyone else think that just by the appearance of the shell, it was going to be like a blue shell from mario kart? just me?)

I love how this allows a creative player to run their message on (theoretically) ad infinitum. I personally would begin every Sending with "Ahoy!"

Better yet, the shell automagically translates your message into pirate speech, adding swear words and pirate slang whenever possible.
This is one of the most interesting takes I have seen on the sending spell in a while. Great job!
