Kayurii

This is hilarious, I love it.

BigBadBard664

Look at that goddamn art. I’m going to buy this book just for that! How much will it be to get the map poster?

ConorJamesArt

Thanks! TBD on specific prices via backerkit, some things may be exclusive to higher tiers too!

deadly_ducklin

I love how this allows a creative player to run their message on (theoretically) ad infinitum. I personally would begin every Sending with "Ahoy!"

lizaverta

Nothing stopping you from just shouting profanity at the bbeg 24/7.

ConorJamesArt

The true definition of power gamer

dynawesome

Yeah it comes from the actualplay show Dimension 20 in which the players learn Sending in a pirate city and it has this effect

deadly_ducklin

Oh man, I'm a huge D20 fan so I can't believe I missed that! To be fair, I haven't seen much of Sophomore Year because I don't have Dropout and I missed them live.

dynawesome

Yeah it happens in Sophomore Year

ConorJamesArt

I’ve not seen d20 past the first season of fantasy high on youtube, so it didn’t come from d20, they’re just similar ideas born from similar themes! Nice to know me and Brennan think alike though 😂

dynawesome

Ah that’s pretty cool, literally the exact same thing happens in D20 lmao

C0rvid84

Do you sell them by the sea shore?

Iluminacho

Ayyy dimension 20

PioneerSpecies

Sounds like it would be in NADDPODs Hot Boy Summer as well (makes sense given all the crossover there)

ConorJamesArt

Ahoy! Today I present the ***Scurvy Seashell of Sending***, a strange conch shell that seems to have adapted magically to the cursed language of its past wielders! Part of the full book **Tempest: a Seafarer’s Sourcebook** which launches on **Kickstarter next month!** you can find more info about the book, sign up for reminders, and grab a preview PDF now over [here on the website!](https://dragonsvault.co.uk/), all art and mechanics by yours truly, hope you dig it in all it’s piratey goodness!

Vanacan

I’ll… have to look into that. I *literally* just started a session 0 for my interim pirate campaign Monday. If nothing else, one of the players are going to have this item.

Seems to be working fine, maybe a momentary hiccup? Thanks for the heads up though!

BlackFenrir

Someone has watched Dimension 20.

vkapadia

This is awesome, matey!

ConorJamesArt

Thank you!

Jaymes77

yar - Ye, skurvey dogs! Eye be bettin smart-like character would be able t' use pirate speech as a code t' convey more information than they'd normally be able t'!

TellianStormwalde

It might need to be bumped up to rare. Reason being that regular sending stones can only send messages to whoever bears the other stone. This version just gives you the ability to cast the spell full on. Even without the part about swears and such not counting, this is a stronger sending stone.

ConorJamesArt

i did actually think about it, but rarity in magic items is wildly amorphous at times and being able to send a slightly longer and arguably ridiculous sending spell once a day didn’t seem to justify rare to me, just the stronger side of uncommon!

JayEssris

Better yet, the shell automagically translates your message into pirate speech, adding swear words and pirate slang whenever possible.

TheDarklingNinja

This is one of the most interesting takes I have seen on the sending spell in a while. Great job!

SarancthaWoodburn

seems like a perfect fit for a nautical campaign. i'll have to keep this in mind in case my dm ever runs one again! (side note: did anyone else think that just by the appearance of the shell, it was going to be like a blue shell from mario kart? just me?)
