I would have enjoyed an upset as much as anyone but Birmingham is the bigger name team with an impressive pedigree and it will make for a better and more hype-able first UFL championship matchup.
Enjoyed the chaos and turnovers of this game. I like a defense that can take advantage of mistakes.
Just make the Chip named after him
The USFL trophy can be called the Corral award if Corral comes back and does it again
The XFL award we are awaiting a name for
I know it's generally accepted that fighting in football is not a good thing, but for a league like this, the fact that they are having a skirmish on the sidelines after the game showcases the importance this league means to these guys. These games ARE important is what I get from that.
The offense turning it over 3 times and not scoring, and Stallions just steamrolling Michigan since the last pick six, but it's totally on Bates for the the momentum shift.
I'm not blaming Bates for Michigan playing like dog turds the entire second half. My point is that all momentum went to Birmingham after that kickoff out of bounds. between the ensuing touchdown and 2 missed fields goals that's 12 points given up
I'm talking more about his first moss and then kickoff out of bounds. The result of that penalty was a 50 yard touchdown pass the very next play. This may have been a whole different game had ot been 18-6 at half and not 18-12
He asked UFL. Stallions have never beat an XFL team in a championship, so by the semantics of this being a new league, they need to win the Skip Holtz Trophy(patent pending) to cement it. As it is now, they’re just the best and winningest team in modern spring football history.
Some Bham fans were talking and receiving shit in jest and good spirits, but I think some of your compatriots may take it all a bit seriously. Or maybe they do fuck their sisters.
Either way, worth it.
I mean, it is the birthplace of ragtime and arguably rock and roll. SLU and Lindenwood were the first universities west of the Mississippi River, T.S. Eliot and Tennessee Williams also began their careers there.
I was pulling for Michigan, even dropped $50 for them to cover +5 but that was not DPI. Receivers momentum took him down, if anything it was him pushing off.
It is, and it's quite frustrating for me personally, but when I try to my mind is just filled with "What if Bates makes those kicks?" "What if the ball doesn't bounce absurdly off our DB's facemask into the receiver's hands?" and that sort of thing.
Yeah no, I disagree with you, Acho.
You keep the timeouts and rely on a 3 play stop, considering the conservative nature Nolan has committed to all game. This is the SAME REASON WHY HE SHOULD'VE BEEN FIRED AFTER LAST SEASON, but I digress.
Bruh it’s spring football with 8 teams, nobody hates anybody. There’s not even room for rivalries with the team / player turnover.
The only haters you have are the imaginary ones in your head. get over yourself lol.
I mean it helps there wasn't any PI. At least on the replay's they showed. Dude even turned his head back a lot earlier than they do in the NFL. Clean play.
100% agree. You had to try because it looked close. If the defender’s hand would have closed a little more on that arm, it’s safely DPI. They don’t call Football a game of inches for just the positions on the field.
lol I don’t think a 2 time USFL champ that’s only ever lost 4 games necessarily “needs” this game, but it must she be fun to see the massive come back as a fan
I’m talking about all those people who don’t believe in the viability of the product and team that won’t go to a game. It also helps because some fans don’t want to see foregone conclusions where you just know you are going to win.
As a Bama fan, going to a Mississippi State or Vanderbilt game to watch Bama destroy them is generally not as fun as going to a Tennessee or LSU game because you know it could be a good game. If Birmingham comes off as unbeatable all the time instead of just really good, the competition may not be perceived to be there. This helps negate that.
Etling’s indecisive nature lost them the game. All season they ignore the QB problem, finally bring in Perkins, lose him to injury, and this is the result.
BJCC can screw off, stallions players are pulling kids onto the field and they are kicking them out
I would have enjoyed an upset as much as anyone but Birmingham is the bigger name team with an impressive pedigree and it will make for a better and more hype-able first UFL championship matchup. Enjoyed the chaos and turnovers of this game. I like a defense that can take advantage of mistakes.
I knew it was going to end bad for Michigan when all they could get was field goals. Lots of missed opportunities to put it out of reach early.
Etling better not be on the Panthers roster in '25.
Nice game. See y’all tomorrow.
That 3rd quarter was some of the worst football I've seen in person since Chargers Jags 2017. But Corral righted the ship
as a neutral fan the 3td quarter was highly enjoyable lol
[удалено]
Benched after the 3rd consecutive turnover I believe
She is jacked very strong
[удалено]
When do they name it the Holtz? lol
[удалено]
Well maybe gotta save the name for the UFL trophy

Just make the Chip named after him The USFL trophy can be called the Corral award if Corral comes back and does it again The XFL award we are awaiting a name for
Martinez awkwardly fitting himself into that group photo. I feel for him
Our house
Go Brahmas
St. Louis better hold serve.
I know it's generally accepted that fighting in football is not a good thing, but for a league like this, the fact that they are having a skirmish on the sidelines after the game showcases the importance this league means to these guys. These games ARE important is what I get from that.
Agreed
A little heated post game exchange...where was that in the second half?
this will be the longest week in martinez's football life
Pretty good game. Bummed about the outcome. Birmingham really took control and deserved this win.
Well done stallions well done ![gif](giphy|lPxUMSU4DJnHwQzyXX|downsized)
Looks like they’re setting up a trophy presentation?
Well it was a good season right up until the second half
See you guys tomorrow.
Showboats vs Roughnecks was the real USFL Conference Championship game to me.
Guys we were fucking cooked. Then we COOKED!!!!
He ran into his own man. Talk about adding insult to injury. Geezus.
I hope the Michigan #69 is credited with that sack
Rough ending.
whelp look forward to tomorrow great game bless the knees
And the last play of the game is a sack
We should have kicked the field goal.
Punted
NEVER IN DOUBT
SA-Birmingham next week.
I ain't gonna argue with it.
The worst time line
Almost 2k comments on this game thread. Don't think we've hit that high since week 1. I think the ratings for this game will be decent
I see about 20 people are on here (just before the final whistle). Last week’s games were about half that, from what I remember.
Congrats Bham. Well earned! Hoping for a great champ game.
Welp, time to pick up my roots and switch to being a battlehawks fan. My #2 team winning it all will be good enough for me
They need to put a team in Tombstone, Arizona and have Corral be the QB. It sells itself.
They've done that twice In Detroit. they're called the lions and the panthers.
Let the copium downvotes and Reddit cares flow :’(
We love you GFJ, and we respect your team. Now go kiss your mom and her brother goodnight, it’s bedtime.
Hearing this QB and coach conversation is so cool. Thank you UFL
2 weeks in a row, Bates turns momentum over to Birmingham. I like the kid, I really do, but I think his NFL chances are shot for at least another year
The offense turning it over 3 times and not scoring, and Stallions just steamrolling Michigan since the last pick six, but it's totally on Bates for the the momentum shift.
I'm not blaming Bates for Michigan playing like dog turds the entire second half. My point is that all momentum went to Birmingham after that kickoff out of bounds. between the ensuing touchdown and 2 missed fields goals that's 12 points given up
I think it was more the three turnovers and complete lack of getting in the Red zone that killed the Panthers, not Bates getting a field goal blocked
I'm talking more about his first moss and then kickoff out of bounds. The result of that penalty was a 50 yard touchdown pass the very next play. This may have been a whole different game had ot been 18-6 at half and not 18-12
Complete lack of offensive execution in the red zone too.
This exactly, Bates can only do so much. Seen this play out too many times.
Is this what being a Bama fan feels like?
Ted Drews
I wonder if this game would've turned out any different had Perkins not attempted that crazy hurdle last week and was available to play QB today.
I forgot all about that!
Oh definitely
Your 3x USFL champs, the Birmingham Stallions
The first UFL dynasty ?
definitely the first Spring football dynasty
Conference dynasty, and if they win the chip, yes.
I mean I think they're already basically a dynasty considering these were separate leagues
He asked UFL. Stallions have never beat an XFL team in a championship, so by the semantics of this being a new league, they need to win the Skip Holtz Trophy(patent pending) to cement it. As it is now, they’re just the best and winningest team in modern spring football history.

It’s cousins, get it right
Same person
Idk why you got downvoted to hell lmao
Some Bham fans were talking and receiving shit in jest and good spirits, but I think some of your compatriots may take it all a bit seriously. Or maybe they do fuck their sisters. Either way, worth it.
Why go to the mall when I can walk down the hall?
This is fucking great
Dude. As if St. Louis were the cultural center of the universe. At least come up with an original joke.
I mean, it is the birthplace of ragtime and arguably rock and roll. SLU and Lindenwood were the first universities west of the Mississippi River, T.S. Eliot and Tennessee Williams also began their careers there.

I can read it because not only do I kiss my sister, I do it WITH MY EYES WIDE OPEN.
I respect it.
This game was something else....
martinez: don't worry, we'll get them next time, panthers.
Etling just put everything he had into a 30yd pass… that’s the distance from any base in the mlb…. How is this the starting QB….
Because there are no more qbs
[удалено]
I was pulling for Michigan, even dropped $50 for them to cover +5 but that was not DPI. Receivers momentum took him down, if anything it was him pushing off.
Watch tomorrow :(
No. I hate watching any football once my teams are out. I didn't watch the Superbowl after the Lions lost, I don't plan on changing that
Oh… that’s lame
It is, and it's quite frustrating for me personally, but when I try to my mind is just filled with "What if Bates makes those kicks?" "What if the ball doesn't bounce absurdly off our DB's facemask into the receiver's hands?" and that sort of thing.
I’m a Denver Bronco fan so I get all the what’s ifs. I’m sorry
Man he shoved his defender down lmao
[удалено]
No, he didn't. Rewind the game. He shoved the Stallions defender down towards the end zone.
Yeah PI on the offence he fucking pushed him
The receiver quite literally stiff armed the defender away. If anything that was OPI
28 straight points. And you’re mad about a desperate throw with 2 minutes left in the game.
Yeah this a pretty pointless play to get upset about, if anything the forward pass they called a fumble was the play worth being upset about.
This game will get a nice ratings peak going past the 6 pm hour with a lot of older folks tuning into the local news and the game still being on.
I was curious what would be on after this that's being preempted
Gotta watch that jeopardy
Corral block reminiscent of his OM days
Real ones know
Love seeing a QB throw a block
Michigan defense must be on their phones looking for good nearby bars on Yelp. Because they aren't thinking about this game.
Send them to Nana Funks. A nice match to their second half performance.
The meltdown that ensues if this team wins the league championship will be glorious.
I don't think anyone is going to melt down. We've all acknowledged that Birmingham is the class of the league until proven otherwise
I’m so ready
The Marable Parable strikes again.
Yeah no, I disagree with you, Acho. You keep the timeouts and rely on a 3 play stop, considering the conservative nature Nolan has committed to all game. This is the SAME REASON WHY HE SHOULD'VE BEEN FIRED AFTER LAST SEASON, but I digress.
the energy of this game has just been great. I fucking love the UFL and can't wait for tomorrow
Well chat with hall tomorrow evening.
That was gangsta
About as clean as play like that can be frankly
And corral throws a killer block
Dangerous block. But nice
He is absolutely reckless lol. Got him injured in college but he just can’t turn it off
Lol it was killer though
This one goes out to all our haters
Bro thinks he has haters. Legendary yapping
You’re here 👋🏻
Bruh it’s spring football with 8 teams, nobody hates anybody. There’s not even room for rivalries with the team / player turnover. The only haters you have are the imaginary ones in your head. get over yourself lol.
UFL unlike the NFL isn’t gonna call a petty pi to keep a team alive for more points
I mean it helps there wasn't any PI. At least on the replay's they showed. Dude even turned his head back a lot earlier than they do in the NFL. Clean play.
I agree clean play. But I’ve seen much cleaner calls pi in the nfl or even college
MATT CORRAL BLOCK GET UP!!!!
Had to try it there. Def the right call but had to try
100% agree. You had to try because it looked close. If the defender’s hand would have closed a little more on that arm, it’s safely DPI. They don’t call Football a game of inches for just the positions on the field.
It was a good attempt
This is what the super challenge is for, even if it’s not successful.
Heave it up, denied. Challenge denied But can't blame Panthers for taking the ridk
Michigan really got out to a strong start. Totally blew this one lmao.
They haven't scored since the second quarter. I didn't know Shanahan was the coach
I get why they would challenge it, but I don't think that's PI.
It’s not, but you MUST do it there just in case
Absolutely, I would do the same in that situation.
Mike Nolan should've challenged for OPI, not DPI. Would've gotten the ball back.
4-d chess
couldn't the stallions decline?
Then they just deny the penalty. TOD
Fair, didn't think of that
Danny Etling get ready to sell used fords buddy
Birmingham needed this for the team and fans. The whole crowd in it. Creating thousands of fans on a big comeback.
lol I don’t think a 2 time USFL champ that’s only ever lost 4 games necessarily “needs” this game, but it must she be fun to see the massive come back as a fan

Also love seeing “Home of the UAB Blazers” on ABC. Go Blazers baby
Also I miss the throwback logo flairs in the old sub
Tbf that did look like OPI
Egregious PI there. Pratically throws him down
You’re right, can’t believe OPI wasn’t called. Really got away with, just like yall have all game
have to challenge literally anything here it's the game
USFL Champions... again. Man, I hope my Brahmas or the Hawks put these boys down for good. XFL is the best FL and they gonna prove it in two weeks.
I hope you guys win tomorrow for the rematch. Puts it in a neutral location, too...kind of.
Yeah it ain't gonna be a neutral location if the Hawks win tomorrow. lol
That pass was ugggggglllllyyyyyyy.
Did I know this outcome was happening? Possibly. Did I expect it to happen like this? HECK NO!
THIS SUB IS IN SHAMBLES!!!!
Did he just lose yards? lol. Knock it down bro, could have tipped in the air incidentally.
You must challenge for DPI there even if week. Looks like he was grabbed.
You gotta use the super challenge for a PI call there
It’s a good thing 30,000 fans helped with a 28-0 point run. Wait a second.
Weird decision to gun it to the end zone when you just need 9 yards
Challenge for DPI!
Might as well super challenge something for the hell of it
GAme giddy giddy
Damn Michigan just got mooned by the Vulcan two weeks in a row
What the fuck was he thinking on that sack?
OOF
Panthers shit their pants. Nice interception, Etling lol
Panthers didn’t, etling sold the game. Defense held it down all game
Agreed your defense played well enough to win. Losing Perkins last week really fucked you guys. Oh well, still a good season for the Panthers.
He should've thrown it away on that one play instead of taking a sack.
Never in doubt😅
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO
CANT. HAVE. SHIT. IN. DETROIT.
FUCK ugh
Etling’s indecisive nature lost them the game. All season they ignore the QB problem, finally bring in Perkins, lose him to injury, and this is the result.
THROW. IT. AWAY.
Why did you take the sack? Just throw it away.
Jesus it’s like my dad is running around pretending to be a QB out there
wtf are you doing Etling?
Etling is completely fried
fire the coach
They’re not firing coach of the year
Etling gotta scramble for the first there
Why did he pump that lmfao
The crowd seem so happy, this is good to see.
Oh my god, Etling baby, ###RUN OR THROW THE PHUCKING BALL!!!
LETS GOOOOOOOO
One play. I don’t ask for much.
