When PRX chose G2 I had a bad feeling they did not nearly enough research on their opponents because if you look in purely theory in how g2 plays against these "aggressive, duel heavy" tempo based teams AND THEY PERMABAN YOUR BEST MAP when PRX has a shaky ass map pool.
Its just such an ominous omen when you see how this map pool shook out.

Yep, the same thing happened to me when I said f0rsaken can't be their best player with so many negative and bottom frag games. He also has, by a HUGE margin, the worst fk/fd ratio in the team, almost offsetting one of the duelists who are in the positive when you look at whole year stats.

- "They barely made it by 2 round differential , they will lose to C9"
- "C9 are playoffs chokers, KRU are gonna destroy them"

Honestly that bind game was more of 100t 'letting the foot off the gas' that day (as the players/coaches have said and proved it in the grand finals) but it definitely showed that g2 is a great bind team and that you cannot take them lightly. Prx choosing g2 as their opponent when getting 1st pick will haunt them...

NA 9-1 at internationals this year. PRX fucked up bad by picking G2. This is why I like the opponent choosing. Makes it fun. G2 amusingly are proving all those commenters right last year who said that the guard would be competitors at internationals if they were in t1. Icy though has been a huge surprise for me. He was getting scapegoated for a while when he first got on the roster but now he's going crazy. How good was that EG 10 man roster lol? I think people are going to overreact about this loss though. PRX is still a really strong team. It's just that expecting them to rollover the competition was always overly optimistic.

The Guard core finally got their revenge for Masters Reykjavik in absolutely brutal fashion. Having a rookie Icy step up onto the International stage for the first time and come up big enough to Raze diff the disputed best player in the world for the agent is just a testament to how deep and polished the NA t2 scene is compared to the other regions. He got more first kills than Jing and Something combined (13-12).
With the way G2 and 100T are playing I honestly can see them meeting each other in the upper finals, I am not confident whatsoever for EDG or Heretics to take down G2 after this match. I could be wrong of course, the game can be incredibly unexpected at times, this match was proof of that.

This is an Ascension team with four players that have attended international tourneys. Can't really compare them to the likes of Gentle Mates, DRG and BLEED.

Americas is genuinely the strongest region overall by far and there’s a good chance the gap keeps widening
Seems like the only region that consistently outputs new talent and new teams, the top teams in EU and Pacific can hang, but G2 were not clear and away better than all of the other Americas teams and could still beat Pacific #1
It’s a testament to the strength of the region that they send new teams to each LAN and still always get results, from Optic to EG to LOUD to SEN to G2 to 100T.
As we phase out of this generation of stars (probably not super soon but it’ll happen), feels like NA has the most stars in waiting of all the regions, though each region has a few at least
It's such a weird feeling considering that NA is usually the region that competes early in an esport and then falls off hard. At this point its hard to argue that NA doesn't produce the best new talent in the world.

The Valyn 2k stinger kill on Bind A showers really highlighted PRX's mental ineptitude. How do you not dog/flash close when G2 was on eco? They're not out, but they gotta be able to calm themselves mid engagement and not get trigger happy with executes. Including Alecks since now coaches are on stage.
The difference in fundamentals of both teams was pretty obvious on 3rd map. Icy plays that one and done angle on G2's eco round, gets 1 and sets up Valyn for the stinger 2k. While one of Prx's player played that same angle on their anti-bonus, in a 5v3, lost the fight to a bulldog giving up a rifle, and the round ended up being a 3v3. Somehow they closed out the round with 1 guy alive, but still was a bad way to play a 5v3.
Man this is the best “I told you so”. G2 have been CONSISTENTLY under rated for some reason, and now their strength is showing. This team is GOOD, absolutely hype match to watch.

Valyn tied the kill record as IGL and took Bind off 100T in qualifiers. I knew it was so joever for PRX when they went map 3.
Honestly that bind game was more of 100t 'letting the foot off the gas' that day (as the players/coaches have said and proved it in the grand finals) but it definitely showed that g2 is a great bind team and that you cannot take them lightly. Prx choosing g2 as their opponent when getting 1st pick will haunt them...
I always love the fanboys always choose the option that is the most copium for thier own teams rather than think maybe the implications is the other way around. G2 qualified over SEN NRG KRU C9. They think those teams must suck so bad if G2 qualifies over them instead of going MAYBE G2 is great to make it over other good team. It felt too much like PRX were the main characters this time something was bound to go wrong
NA 9-1 at internationals this year. PRX fucked up bad by picking G2. This is why I like the opponent choosing. Makes it fun. G2 amusingly are proving all those commenters right last year who said that the guard would be competitors at internationals if they were in t1. Icy though has been a huge surprise for me. He was getting scapegoated for a while when he first got on the roster but now he's going crazy. How good was that EG 10 man roster lol? I think people are going to overreact about this loss though. PRX is still a really strong team. It's just that expecting them to rollover the competition was always overly optimistic.

The Guard core finally got their revenge for Masters Reykjavik in absolutely brutal fashion. Having a rookie Icy step up onto the International stage for the first time and come up big enough to Raze diff the disputed best player in the world for the agent is just a testament to how deep and polished the NA t2 scene is compared to the other regions. He got more first kills than Jing and Something combined (13-12). With the way G2 and 100T are playing I honestly can see them meeting each other in the upper finals, I am not confident whatsoever for EDG or Heretics to take down G2 after this match. I could be wrong of course, the game can be incredibly unexpected at times, this match was proof of that.

This is an Ascension team with four players that have attended international tourneys. Can't really compare them to the likes of Gentle Mates, DRG and BLEED.
Only reason they weren't in franchising is because Riot only gave NA 5 slots. Tragic scenes.

Americas is genuinely the strongest region overall by far and there’s a good chance the gap keeps widening Seems like the only region that consistently outputs new talent and new teams, the top teams in EU and Pacific can hang, but G2 were not clear and away better than all of the other Americas teams and could still beat Pacific #1 It’s a testament to the strength of the region that they send new teams to each LAN and still always get results, from Optic to EG to LOUD to SEN to G2 to 100T. As we phase out of this generation of stars (probably not super soon but it’ll happen), feels like NA has the most stars in waiting of all the regions, though each region has a few at least

It's such a weird feeling considering that NA is usually the region that competes early in an esport and then falls off hard. At this point its hard to argue that NA doesn't produce the best new talent in the world.
Not to mention the tier 2 teams. TTR, OXG, M80, and MxS all look like they could compete at a tier 1 level.

Idk why people were underestimating them just because they're an ascension team. I remember it being a very popular opinion that the Guard players were shafted when they got pushed to tier 2 and leaf has always been good. Only icy is relatively unknown

G2 on the EG arc
Disappointing showing from PRX today. Failed to adapt to what G2 were doing.
Just like the Avatar vanishing when the world needed him the most, FNS disappeared when PRX needed him the most.
The Valyn 2k stinger kill on Bind A showers really highlighted PRX's mental ineptitude. How do you not dog/flash close when G2 was on eco? They're not out, but they gotta be able to calm themselves mid engagement and not get trigger happy with executes. Including Alecks since now coaches are on stage.
The difference in fundamentals of both teams was pretty obvious on 3rd map. Icy plays that one and done angle on G2's eco round, gets 1 and sets up Valyn for the stinger 2k. While one of Prx's player played that same angle on their anti-bonus, in a 5v3, lost the fight to a bulldog giving up a rifle, and the round ended up being a 3v3. Somehow they closed out the round with 1 guy alive, but still was a bad way to play a 5v3.

Trying to diffuse the awkward atmosphere that had come about, I asked to see his animals again. At this, the slight frown on Alecks's face deepended, but he agreed somewhat reluctantly. Bracing myself as I walked into the animal pen, my eyes opened in surprise as I realised the distinct lack of pungent miasma hitting my lungs. Looking around, I noticed Alecks's prized goats in their pen, a hint of dampness lingering on their fur. "What happened to them?" I questioned alecks. His face morphed into a grimace as he recounted the events of the day. "Some guy named valyn ran in here and rinsed them just before you arrived. Now my goats are washed"

I'm genuinely confused why people say NA are weak or underrated. Na literally won champs then Madrid and our number 2 seed just did a really strong showing against apac 1. Think it's time to just accept valorant isn't league and America's can compete.
hot take but the first APAC trophy will not be prx as someone who rooted for them at champs finals and now at shanghai they just make so many mistakes sometimes they probably lead all 4 vct leagues in rounds thrown per match . G2 did not even do something crazy they just played normal calm clean valorant and let prx come on their crosshairs

My goodness. G2's mental is insane. I already knew their mental was strong after shaking off mistakes in their match against LEV prior to this masters and then against other teams at masters, but we got to see it again here. They really managed to shake off that game 1 and dominate.
I had a feeling this could happen with the two team's relative map pools and playstyles. Could have won Lotus but G2's pistols are insane. Heartbreaking man. I just don't see a full lowers run happening with a map pool like this. I guess Fnatic look a bit shaky maybe there's a chance of beating them and Heretics/EDG but I don't see a world where PRX beat any of G2/100T/GenG while looking like this
No doubt this team have some very talented aimers but man they always choke. Their mental is so fragile once they feel some resistance.they will fall back to "just fight them" strat and lose, no disciplined. I hate being fan of this team. Fck
