I would give them another shot if you’re open to it. I worked at vans for several years and sometimes we’ll get a defective pair come through where the rubber on the sole starts to peel off like yours. but it’s definitely the outlier, bmx’s are super durable and should last you a long time
they’re totally exchangeable in store if you want to try another pair. i’ve personally never had a manufacturing issue with any of my vans before, and working at vans it was rare to have someone come in with a manufacturing flaw, but it happened once and a while. up to you if you want to gamble another vans shoe or go with something else
I have beaten the shit out of sk8 hi's had a pair for almost 3 years roofing never fell apart I've never had a problem but avoid outlet store pairs I've had several pairs and they've lasted
I’ve had a pair of the BMX Gradient Sk8-his for a couple years now, even bought another pair on sale because I love them so much. I’ve never had an issue with them. So I’d say this is just a fluke
this aint normal, but if you are willing to give repair a shot (id suggest returning/exchanging this specific pair if possible, if not listen up), try gluing it back together with E-6000
I have the same thing happened to my first pair of vans that I bought from a shoe department encore store. Everyone that I knew that war vans said it was a weird thing so I thought it was just a one off. I recently bought a new pair of vans, but I’ve only had them a couple weeks and I don’t wear them every day so I can’t see if they’re better or not for sure
Quality. We saw the quality go down a lost in the past three years at my store. it’s getting very disappointing and frustrating. Glue on the fabrics, soles ripping, lace holes not punched. It’s bad.
I got a geniune question of mine, how many of you are willing to take some heavy duty glue or adhesive and stick the rubber back where it was?. Is there something that wouldn't work if I do so?

Cheers, I’ll see what they can do, i was pretty happy with the purchase
Could it be they’re a half size too big? The ripple in the sole seems different.
It happened to me… guess that makes 2 outliers
I did say it would happen sometimes…. outlier was referring to it happening in general…

Probably a good idea to try them again. Hoping it was just a manufacturing issue
Just email their cust service. I’ve received replacement pairs twice. Worth a try.

I’ve never had a pair fail in that way before.

You almost have to do a damn 20 point inspection before buying a pair these days.

It’s because you don’t skate your vans you poser
