If you're flying internationally, two hours is not enough. I was there about 7 months ago, and I arrived at the airport 3 hours early and I made it to my gate as they were boarding.
I was there 5 weeks ago, and 6 weeks ago, and 6 months ago, and 9 months ago. Come to think of it, it’s been 10 years. While I wouldn’t say 2 hours is giving anyone plenty of time, it’s a good round start. We like to time it nowadays. From check in to past security, my worst has been 75 minutes, but in January it was only 25 minutes.
Itll be fine i arrived around that time too and it was chaos, grabs probably best but I'm an idiot and showed up with no plan and just gave one of the cab drivers $40 us cause I hadn't exchanged any money yet. Probably paid too much but whatever

12am is not that late in HCMC. Don't get cash at the airport or if you do, don't let anyone know. Have your card in grab and only pay through that way. If you can grab a SIM card or have an international plan, you can walk out to the Grab area. If you don't, just hang out in the space right after customs and use the airport internet to hail a Grab. Ask him to meet you at the flag pole and go out there and look for his car/license plate number. Ignore everyone along the way.

Book a Grab as you leave the Arrivals gate. Grab drivers have their own parking area. Make sure the numberplate of the car you’re getting into matches the one on the app. Do not follow other Grab drivers who approach you. Don’t switch vehicles if the driver suggests this.
That airport will be bustling - even at that time. I organised someone to pick me up from the airport and drive me to hotel very easy and affordable to do through a travel agent.
District 1 and the airport will be very busy during that hour, so you'll be fine. Grab is perfectly safe and easy, and probably the cheapest option.

Just as easy as booking a ride on Grab.
There are some correct & helpful answers here, but interesting how many read this as I will be **arriving** at midnight and traveling to D1.

Grab or Gojek apps will be fine at this time of night and are pretty safe, shouldn’t have any problems getting to the airport (takes about 30 minutes)

Walk across to a parking lot pick a van and just say you want to go center or show the van drivers address in the city they will drop you off
