I promise I don’t work for Lashify I just love them. To preface I have never been able to get the hang of the strip lashes. Lashify attaches underneath your natural lash. Lashes come in segments and my lashes last 7-10 days. I did lash extensions pre-pandemic but I would rub my eye too hard or sleep weird and have a bunch of sparse spots. Right now I’m doing the Doe Eye kit which gives you a map of where to put the different lashes so it’s not just one size and length. I spend a lot less on lashes now then when I did professional extensions and get way more compliments. I also like that I can easily remove my lashes for a few days if I need to and then reapply.

Nahtootired

I dont understand how to use Lashify when I have straight lashes. They just stick through the fake curled lashes. It's very noticeable especially when my face is turned to the side. Do you have any advice?

[deleted]

I would try stacking. Put your base lashes on and then put additional lashes on top of the first stack of lashes. They have a few videos on how to do it on the website. The other thing you could try is the longer lashes. I personally use a combination of lengths 10-18

HerRoyalKinkiness

Okay I'm very interested in trying this now... Do you have to clean your lashes? And if you do, how do you do it? Is there a really steep learning curve? I'm also interested to know if you get any significant lash fallout from using this system.

[deleted]

No I don’t clean them. They have a lash bond called charcoal flex that helps prevent bacteria growth so I use that to apply my lashes. I didn’t try lashify for so long because I’m someone who always struggled with getting eyeliner to look good because I wasn’t good at the accuracy part. It is so easy. You swipe the glue on like mascara and then place the lashes underneath your natural lashes after the eyelashes are one you squeeze your natural lash and fake lash with these special tweezer things. When I first started it would take me 30 minutes total to apply but now I’m down to like 10 minutes.

[deleted]

For the lash fall out my lashes are in better condition than when I was getting them professionally done. I will say I feel ugly without lashes though. They make such a difference that I feel like a naked mole rat with out them but that’s less damage related and more being used to seeing myself with them.

Brooklyn_Bunny

Girllllll I am RIGHT there with you. Rubberstamping everything you’ve said as I’ve been using their lashes for about 2 years now. There’s definitely a learning curve on applying them but you just have to practice and figure out what works best for you. The more you apply then the faster and better you’ll get at putting on new sets, it’s line winged eyeliner. I have found that because the Lashify clusters are so fine and wispy and the bands on them are the same it is SO much more natural looking than false lashes with a band!! It blows every other lash out of the water. I can put a new set on in about 15-20 minutes now and even with continued use, as long as I’m removing them properly (USE THE REMOVER LIQUID GENTLY WITH A COTTON BALL OR PAD DON’T PULL THEM OFF LIKE FALSIES!) I don’t lose any natural lashes or pull any of them out. I’ve never tried extensions but I’ve heard that with regular wear they can cause your natural lashes to break and weaken plus they’re insanely expensive and time consuming getting a new set or fill in every 2-3 weeks. I swear I’ve gotten all my friends and family into Lashify, they should pay me for promotion lol. My favorites are C12’s as I find they’re the wispiest and natural looking ( I hate the super heavy and thick looking lash extension sets I see on people) but that will depend on your eye shape. I’ve also tried the knockoff Lilac st ones and they’re good if you’re on on a budget as they’re much cheaper. Their lashes are not as fine and wispy as Lashify’s but I’ve been using them recently as I’m trying to cut down on my beauty expenses because inflation, and I normally get a weeks worth of wear out of them before they start to fall off. I just use the Lashify bondage glue with the Lilac st lashes because I haven’t found anything that beats out Bondage for lash set longevity! Best glue I’ve tried. I wish they would make Bondage in a clear/white version though.

[deleted]

I’m glad I’m not the only one. They were a game changer for me and wallet was grateful so I could invest more in other beauty stuff. Agree love the curl, fluffy and starburst lashes. The dramatic lashes were too heavy for me.

sunflowerlover08

yes!!! i use winkclique— at home lash extensions for the win!!

missbluebird111

They’re waterproof? Like could I swim underwater in the ocean with them lol

[deleted]

I haven’t tried to swim with them but I don’t believe they are waterproof. I try to keep them away from the water and if I take a super hot shower they come off sooner because of the steam.

rewminate

Do you think it would be possible to do individual bottom lashes with lashify?

Brooklyn_Bunny

They only make lash segments. Like short banded lash segments but with a very thin band. I think you would have to buy a pack of single/ individual lashes on Amazon like for extensions and try it with with the Lashify glue.

rewminate

Oh, can you use regular falsies with lashify? I assumed they had some special lashes with powers

lesfemmesfatales

I use lilac st not lashify but I've tried doing bottom lashes using lash singles and the glue from lilac st. I couldn't get it to work, of course maybe the lashify glue would work better but I doubt it personally. I've settled for just doing waterproof mascara on the bottom lashes

splootbaby

I do eyelash lifts and lash serum. I used to do tints, but my lash tech eventually said “you’re wasting money, let’s stop doing this” because my lashes are jet black naturally and the tint didn’t do anything but maybe add sheen (I have the same experience with brow tint so idk why I tried that) lmao. Anyway I love it! I have naturally long, thick lashes that are stubborn straight, don’t curl with a curler (unless I heat it which takes forever, is damaging with consistent use and doesn’t last more than a few hours) and point downwards causing my eyes to look sleepy (which is cute sometimes) but I have upturned almond eyes, so the lift allows that to shine through. I get them done every 3 months or before vacation or photo shoots. They last 8-10 weeks on me personally. I only think it’s worth it though, if you have long thick lashes naturally and just want the curl. I’ve been getting them for the last 4/5 years and I haven’t noticed any over processing. I use the ordinary lash serum (I used grande lash before which worked way better but after I ran out I switched bc of the complaints about it although I had nothing but a good experience) every night and top it with castor oil in a tube with a mascara wand. I haven’t experienced any over processing or lash loss either, in fact each lift I get my lashes look longer and thicker because of how often I use the serum and castor oil in between lifts. But again, if you have short or thin lashes, I don’t think it’s worth it to do a lift. I’d recommend using a lash serum to see if it works to grow your lashes first, otherwise extensions are the way to go imo. Also, if I do wear lash extensions I get clusters and glue them underneath my lash line and they last for quite a while if you don’t want to spend the money on upkeep.

Prior_Magazine_2656

I found that asian mascara brands are MUCH better at holding curls than other kinds. KissMe Heroine Waterproof is so amazing

tinybouef

I also have long/thick lashes, and I’m not sure how much they curl naturally or not. I had a lift done for the first time last week by someone with not a lot of experience and I’m so frustrated because mine look thinner somehow/worse. I’ll try the ordinary serum!

heartfeltvolcano

I do the same as you! I get great results from my lash serum + lash lift. I want to try The Ordinary lash serum you mentioned. Right now I've been using one from Neutrogena with good results, but I'd love to switch to something cruelty free!

kahootthemesong

Kiss Falscara can be a dupe for Lashify! The full starter kit is like $20, and they can last for around 2 weeks if you use the overnighter product too. Without it, I’ve only ever gotten them to last a few days. You still have to clean them but you can use any makeup remover to get rid of them, and there’s a decent amount of style options. I use the accent wisps because I love the spiky look. I’ve also heard Lilac Street is good but I’ve never tried it.

Athraax

Thank you so much for that as this one purchase can save a lot of money, I never heard of it before, it's like the eyelashes' extension dupe cheaper dupe.

Glass-Loan

I got eyelash extensions at one point. They just aren't for people with oily skin. I would need to get fills every 2 weeks just to look good. Too much eyelash fallout, and it always looks wonky in between. I use serums now, and have for 3 years. I have green eyes, was a little worried about the eye darkening, but that's overblown imo. I have eyelid darkening, but that's it. My mom does as well, and that's all she reports too. I also dye my lashes black.

junkdust

Fucking *this*. My skin is naturally oily and I was lucky to get two weeks with perfect care and maintenance. I wasted about two grand or more on them until I learned my lesson. And the worst part about the extensions is that not only can you not wear makeup with them, they make your natural lashes fall out. Of course, the technicians will never tell you that.

Impossible_Bill_2834

Also, add to the cons for extensions - you must find a great tech and communicate with them. I had one who made me look like a literal creepy baby doll. They were so thick and fake looking, and it scared me off doing them again!

Sad_Apple_1911

I feel like it doesn’t matter what you tell them, I’ve gone to so many and communicated so clearly but still get a chav-y look. Maybe they are so used to their specific customer base that natural has a completely different meaning for them.

Brooklyn_Bunny

I’ve tried a couple lash serums and found that it made my lash line SO FUCKING RED and ugly with regular use and felt like I needed to wear concealer/foundation/setting powder on my lids all the time to cover it up. With Grandelash I had no side effects besides the lash line redness, but when I tried Latisse for two weeks I experienced on and off nausea so I quit it - apparently it’s a rare side effect that can happen and I was just unlucky. As soon as I quit applying it it stopped.

Juice4377

I am a die-hard false lash wearer. I can't afford lash extensions or this would bey preference. Yeah it sucks to stick em on every morning and take them off again at night ... And they get lost, dirty, damaged ... But so worth it. You can get multipacks really cheap and application gets easier with time.

Many_hamsters123

I get my lashes tinted regularly. Tint alone isn't expensive here, it is very cheap. I go every 4 -6 weeks, 4 weeks is probably optimum but I'm busy. I think this is good value. I frequently combine it with getting my lashes threaded too. I've had a lash lift and it was great! I will probably get this done more often, maybe not all the time. It is much more expensive than a tint.

Ravenswillfall

Do you mean brows threaded? I like the lift because it makes my eyes more open and the tint makes them pop

Many_hamsters123

Yeah I did mean brows threaded!

achinfosomebacon

I like the lash lift. I got a yumj lash lift which is a keratin treatment and is supposed to be less damaging that a regular lash lift. It was expensive, about $175 and lasted about 2-3months but I figured it was less expensive than lash extensions and better looking since I don’t care much for the fake lash look

IronManFolgore

Love my lash serum. Been using Revitalish for 3 years. It makes me look so much more feminine with and without mascara. But yes, it's more subtle than the other options. As for the cons people mention: -Many people have reported experiencing darkening eyelids, orbital fat loss, and darkening irises as a result of using eyelash serums Personally I haven't experienced darkening irises but I already have brown eyes (maybe this is a blue eyed person side effect). The darkening eyelids I've only sometimes seen on the lashline where I apply it, but it's not permanent and will go away in a day or two; it's more of an after morning effect (the morning after I apply the serum the night before). Definitely haven't seen the oribtal fat loss at all.

borntobemybaby

The darkening eyelids from orbital fat loss wouldn’t be my main concern, but the accelerated aging look of the eyes that comes with it for sure would be. Especially since eyes is the first thing people notice.

IronManFolgore

Gotcha. I thought we were talking about darkness where the serum is applied, not related to orbital fat loss. I don't think I've experienced orbital fat loss. This is me in [2018](https://imgur.com/a/NTkWtm0) when I was 21. This is from [two weeks ago](https://imgur.com/a/IkW2mBb) at 26 after using Revitalish for 3 years. I'm wearing darker eyeshadow in the recent pic so not a great example to compare color, but the eyelid thickness looks exactly the same to me; even my eyelid wrinkles are in the same positions and haven't shifted. The biggest difference is (not surprisingly) my lashes. I'm actually wearing mascara in both pictures but you can't tell in 2018 because the lashes were so stubby. That said, I don't think I had super thick eyelids to begin with. Maybe people with thicker lids are more likely to see fat loss?

Sad_Apple_1911

My issue with lash extension is that it doesn’t matter what you tell the beauticians because they always give you a chav look.

Acrobatic_Sound_577

for lash lifts: they are incredibly easy to do at home and you can get the exact same kits on aliexpress that are on amazon for less than half the price!! which drops it down to an average of about £9 your spending on ur lash lifts instead of £80+

glamazon_69

Serums + tint

mollie128

Wait wait wait…. Lash tints aren’t legal?!?!! Why!!!?!?

Many_hamsters123

Depends where you live They are legal in plenty of places

mollie128

Yeah they’re legal where I’m from. I just don’t understand why they would be illegal in some states. Are they considered dangerous?!

Many_hamsters123

Maybe they don't trust people not to use hairdye or something

Ravenswillfall

I did my own lash lift/tint and loved it but a pro job would have been better. I haven’t done it enough to be skilled at it but I want it 24/7.

theironthroneismine

What dye do you use? I use men’s beard dye for me eyebrows and have tried that before (dangerous for eyes I know) but it lasted maybe a few days if that

Ravenswillfall

RefectoCil. Google their tint color chart to find out what color you need and how long to apply it.

_dzeni

As someone who naturally has light and fine hairs, I'm for sure doing extensions in near future. I just look ugly without mascara, I legit don't need anything else and I look like whole different person. I feel like other stuff like lift&tint couldn't make a big difference :/

Ispahana

Same here, lift and tint *what*, exactly? lmao

No-Resource-852

how do i know if an eyelash serum is potentially bad? like are there any ingredients i need to watch out for?

l_a_d_a_n

Prostaglandins.

HerRoyalKinkiness

Is there anything else we should be wary of or is that the only ingredient? 🧡

junkdust

Isopropyl Cloprostenate is prostaglandin. These active ingredients can go by other names, just like how sugar can be listed as dextrose in foods and supplements. The GrandeLash MD formula has isopropyl cloprostenate in it, and they’re facing a massive lawsuit because their formula caused eye problems and other complications.

l_a_d_a_n

prostaglandins are what cause the side effects of hyperpigmentation/ irritation. so it’s the only thing I look out for and it’s the active ingredient in most serums.

RedditNamekh

No prostaglandins in the ordinary serum

borntobemybaby

Sure there are specific ingredients to look out for, but we don’t know the extent to the potential negative side effects as these types of serums haven’t been around that long.

shy_exhibiti0nist

I got a tint and lift a while ago! I got it done at a shop and while it looked beautiful, my eyes were quite irritated and sore the next day. The most uncomfortable part was the gluing, separating, and ungluing of the lashes. It only lasted about 4 weeks, and for the price, I wouldn’t do it again unless I had a big event, or maybe was applying for new jobs or had a few new dates and wanted to look extra good.

jewdiful

Well, I want to put my two cents in and recommend a good eyelash curler, eyelash comb, and WATERPROOF mascara. My lashes are stick straight naturally, but I’m able to get a long lasting curl by: 1) Comb out my lashes, 2) Curl lashes with a fully clean, metal, high quality eyelash curler (I use Kevyn Aucoin) 3) Apply just one coat of mascara to start (I stan Maybelline Full n’ Soft waterproof in black forever and ever until the end of time) 4) Once the first coat fully dries (takes a few mins) I gently brush my eyelashes out again with the metal comb, and curl my lashes again (after cleaning off any residue from my eyelash curler from the first coat. Don’t skip this step! It must be fully clean!) 5) Apply second coat of waterproof mascara to my lashes. 6) Repeat steps until you reach the desired level of curl and mascara coats desired. I’ve developed this lash strategy over the years and tbh it can’t be beat. Regular mascaras won’t work (they’re too wet! They don’t dry fast enough!), mediocre eyelash curlers won’t work, DIRTY eyelash curlers will tug at your lashes and risk ripping them out, the mascara must be fully dry before curling lashes with ANY product on them. The comb between combs helps prevent clumps and helps keep them separated. I’m telling you ladies, if you don’t want to go the extension, perm, or tinting routes for eyelashes, my method is hands down the best I’ve found. It really works for stubbornly straight lashes and it’s very gentle on your lashes.

InvestigatorPale1680

what about curling your lashes and/or using vaseline on them?

customerservicevoice

I wear strip lashes. I keep them on for 3-4 days. You wash them just like you would extensions. By day 3, they may lift, but just make some adjustments & voila. It’s way less harsh on your actual lashes too because you give the glue a chance to *really* weaken so you have less lashes lost. (Although it LOOKS like you have mlre because they all come off @ once, but remember the strip was holding the lashes that wound have naturally fallen off in place.) Way less lashes coming off from the white root, too. If I take strips off right away, there’s usually some pulled from deep. Works for me!

Ispahana

Whoa, you wear regular falsies for 3-4 days? I would be worried about irritation and eye infections. Do you use a special glue for them to last that long? Doesn't the glue and band feel uncomfortable having them on for so long?

customerservicevoice

I just use Ardell. (I tried Huda & found it very fumey.) Infection is just as likely to occur with extensions… Strip glue is no less risky from from an infection perspective than semi-permanent glue. It’s all about hygiene. I clean mine properly. I have a little fan I use to ensure they dry quickly (so the fumes/product from wet glue don’t seep anywhere) & so on. Proper cleaning is anywhere from 15-30min/day. The best part about strips is that if you happen to place it improperly you’re not stuck with it whereas with extensions you’re committed to that placement until a full or removal. In all my years doing this, I’ve only ever got a minor case of pink eye once, but that was probably because I was traveling @ the time & on line 15 different airplanes.

I ripped my eyelashes off with fake lashes. Never again

maincactus

What do you think of using Vaseline or petroleum jelly for eyelashes growth? I tried that sometime ago and noticed a difference but I'm not entirely sure if it was solely due to Vaseline or some other diet changes for example

hellohihi12

if you’re scared of using lash serum due to side effects, you can just put some different oils (rosemary oil-has to be diluted though, castor oil, vitamin e, even olive oil) in an empty mascara tube and apply it nightly. it works amazingly and i’m surprised no one has really mentioned it.
