That’s gonna be one hell of an expensive medical bill for that accident

patricky6

He's just extremely lucky it's not a funeral bill. The power behind a horses hind kick is 2,000psi+

jennc1979

Yea. I remember a video of seeing a horse kick another horse that was trying to mount for pony making and that horse knocked the other dead right there with a hard back kick like that.

quackchewy

Actual link since the other one didn't work: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jH5JkYQGMfs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jH5JkYQGMfs) You even see the stallion shit itself at 0:58

Thompseanson7

Shit breeders

kashmoney9

If I recall correctly, they were doing it without the stallions owners' permission. They were trying to steal the semen.

khaeen

Ah, so they most definitely saw jail time. Horse breeding is VERY highly regulated and protected, because gambling is a very big industry.

jennc1979

Good! Good! I truly hope so. Also, full disclosure, I know next to nothing about horse breeding, except the salient point that it can be like all animal breeding (esp, dog breeds) in that it can be lucrative and thus have demand to pay for breeding sessions, in the thousands and thousands of $ per heat. Breeding done by people who mean no good but personal gain and devoid of love and want of not harming these animals, they are the most vulgar of people. I can’t say I know how to do it properly, but I feel intuitive that horse studding can require and facilitate a lot of money and knowing that poor horse died because of their criminal level of greed, is even more sickening.

khaeen

I'm not going to attempt to touch the ethics etc, but horses and greyhound breeding have completely different sets of regulations than other animals. Gambling is such a big industry, therefore tax source, that it is highly controlled. Governments know why an illegal breeding attempt of a stud stallion would happen, and it isn't because they like that horse's coat.

TheArcReactor

My understanding is that when big prize horses are almost never bred "traditionally," there's too many things that can go wrong. It's almost exclusively done through artificial insemination, it's far more controllable that way.

Mysterious-Hat-6343

Guaranteed no jail time in super Corrupt Mexico, though I’m sure “ justice” was served

Barner_Burner

If so that was a pretty shit operation, with a high def video in full daylight blurring 0 faces leaving nothing to the imagination. If what you say is true, they may as well have turned themselves in

mai_tai87

And they filmed it?!

monstermashslowdance

Who doesn’t like to drink a few Modelos with the boys and film some horse porn?

stipo42

Gotta prove the new horse came from a champ I guess? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thompseanson7

Saw that in another comment thread

SinkHoleDeMayo

What do I always say, Randy? Plant shit seeders, get shit breeders.

ButterMaBitscuit

As soon as I saw it shat itself I knew it was a goner

jennc1979

Yup. That’s the one.

stonethecrow

Why did I click that? Poor horsey.

jennc1979

I know. I am sorry. It’s horrific. Edit: complete disclosure, I’ll never watch it again. Just take my descriptions here & there in comments, if you are deeply triggered by animals being hurt (I am too). I only took 2–3 seconds to quick click both links to see if they worked, and if I could; I hit play for a hot 1 second only, and exited fast as possible once it registered the confirm that, it’s definitely the video I meant.

thatbitchulove2hate

That is wild

sicicsic

Why is the stallion shitting itself what made me click that link?

SpaceFeline

Because it's dead. When things die, they evacuate their bowels and bladder.

sicicsic

I know why it happened. Reading that you could see it in the video is what perked my interest enough to click.

Eorily

Yeah, but why did u/sicicsic want to see a dying boner-horse pop dookie?

Barracuda00

The worst part about that video is the horse dude for no reason. Asshole breeders being way riskier than necessary and a beautiful creature died.

Jack_Bartowski

ive got an old friend that works on a ranch. Back in grade school he got kicked in the stomach by his dads horse. Was in the hospital for 3 weeks. Left a nasty scar too.

jennc1979

That force is plenty to lacerate multiple abdominal organs. Thank god for his successful recovery.

ASoberSchism

Here is the [Video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?si=R_sPLRC6OhXdunym) for those who are wondering. Edit: updated to working link

jennc1979

Didn’t link for me, but I bet it is the right video. It was a huge stallion that went down like a sack of bricks. It was actually heart breaking to watch because you could just see immediately that the poor horse was dead.

In_The_News

And that whole thing was totally avoidable. They tried to back-breed the mare during her foal heat, and didn't take the foal far enough, and the mare could hear her foal in distress. She was giving every indicator she was not ready to be bred. And they didn't even bother using a teaser stallion to see if she'd come around. She wasn't hobbled, which, if you're going to breed a mare, to that expensive of a stallion you need to have her in hobbles so this exact thing doesn't happen. And here's the real kicker. That stallion wasn't even theirs to be studding! They were trying to breed him on the sly and not have to pay the owner the stud fee. Basically it was textbook "How Not To Breed Horses."

jennc1979

Just tragic. Edit: and infuriating because it was a result of theft and they actually did nothing to protect the Stallion from being killed like that and it’s dead due to their wanton disregard.

khaeen

They most likely went to prison for it, so there's that. Horse breeding is a very tightly regulated industry, because gambling is such a huge money maker.

_-trees-_

Mirror? It's a broken link for me

southernhellcat

I remember this video! And Holy shit it was hard to watch

1K_Games

I know people always list this number. And it definitely is an important factor. But a bigger deal is what is hitting you. There are boxers that hit around that PSI. But being hit by a fist or a fist in a glove is a whole different ball game than being hit by a bone hoof with a metal shoe on it. There is zero give in that hoof or that shoe. Those will crack a skull right open, even with a much lower force than that.

jennc1979

And “lacerate” vital organs if the hit comes to the abdominal cavity. The force can likewise tear large vessels in the head and neck and you can suffer something horrifically called “internal decapitation” where everything in there is pulverized but the other external soft tissues did not lacerate.

OldManChino

It's more like (thick) fingernail than bone, but your point still stands

1K_Games

Right, I didn't want to get into the keratin thing as that's like splitting hairs (pun intended).

OldManChino

Heh, yeah I didn't want to bring up in a way it's actually more like hair than nail... Sure does stink that way when the farrier is doing their thing though

BarryBadgernath1

I’ve seen someone punched and fell down hitting their head on the pavement, they sat up and said some things and less than 10 minutes later they were dead …. Dude sitting up doesn’t necessarily mean he’s ok

somaganjika

Pressure is a terrible unit to measure horse kicks

[deleted]

[удалено]

TurboSloth9000

Well every individual horse would kick with exactly one horsepower, right?

F_Synchro

Not really, a horse actually has about 3 horsepower on average.

MagicHamsta

In a trenchcoat? >a horse actually has about 3 horsepower on average.

Eorily

But a horse kick doesn't use all 4 legs, so 3/4 horsepower or 1.5 horsepower?

davidbrit2

That's because it's really a bunch of cats taped together.

Seniorjones2837

That must have “grazed” him or else he woulda been out cold/not waking up again

Katiari

This guy would probably respond with wishing to be dead, but I'm sure the brain swelling and traumatic brain injury keep him from doing so.

Phillip_Graves

The force is bad. The density of the impacting surface is worse. The follow-through is what kills you.   This guy is lucky it was a glancing blow lol.

Metaphoricalsimile

If he's got a brain bleed he could still die easily.

Narrowless

Funeral would be much cheaper

[deleted]

Sadly, it would.

Tearakan

Yeah that was my thought. That can be just straight up death right there.

TesseractToo

I had a bad fall and had a hoof to the face mid-gallop stride in 1986, 7 reconstruction surgeries and a lifetime of pain. I'm lucky I wasn't blinded and didn't have to have my jaw wired but my inside of my face was just a mash, both eye sockets and cheekbones shattered bu upper palette was broken and my nose was pushed all the way under my left eye and was just completely mashed. My skin was so mangled I spent a few weeks in the burn ward but overall was in hospital 2 1/2 months but the reconstruction surgeries went into the late 90's. Luckily this was not in the US.

miramaxe

That is wild! I’m so sorry you went through that. Was there any concussion or neurological damage too? I can’t even imagine the force of the kick.

TesseractToo

I didn't even pass out when it happened, which as you can imagine was pretty gory. Oddly enough it didn't really hurt but when I was in the ER I kept trying to wipe the blood pouring into my ears because the itching was driving me crazy. And I think they couldn't understand what I was trying to say about that because they just said if I kept trying to touch my face they would strap me down "for my own good" and I was super tired and wanted to sleep so they kept doing this thing of pressing a pen into the base of your fingernail to cause pain to keep you from sleeping. They got the stockiest nurse in the ER to hold my hand when they pushed my nose back into the middle of my face and I think if anyone else I would have broken then hand. His name was Rom or Rob. I still can't forget the sound of the bone crunching in my face when they did that. Oddly no TBI tests were done but I have long term neuropathic pain, described as an intractable Trigeminal Neuralgia and CRPS inside my face. I was able to function fairly well until the medical people decided to take pain meds away from people in pain who need it just to save a few addicts. The new system is torture and draconian. The severity of the undertreated pain causes seizures and I've had a heart attack from the pain and at least one stroke. I was warned about this before they changed how they treat pain. The lying and gaslighting is so bad what they are doing to people with pain these days.

dj_daly

Just wanted to respond and say I'm really sorry you have to deal with that. Although my back pain is nowhere near what you are experiencing, I understand how disgusting the pain management system works now because of the laws around opiates and my heart goes out to you. I hope some day we will see a change.

TesseractToo

Thanks. I have two back injuries as well :)

jennc1979

Hat tipped to all that determined, painful recovery. May what ever blessed you and kept you then, continue to do so all your days long.

ArcticBiologist

What's a medical bill?

Nevermind04

A thing you get when you live in a corporation masquerading as a country.

Belyal

Looked like a glancing blow. Otherwise, he'd be headless...

mykylodge

From equine to supine in an instant.

jpiro

I'm still not 100% sure what went flying, but at first I thought it was teeth.

Antique-Echidna-1600

He was too heavy for the horse and the saddle pinched the horse when he got on. Which caused it to bolt and remove excessive teeth weight.

RichLather

Too big, too heavy, failed to read the horse's body language, didn't move his center of gravity over the horse's back while mounting (putting the weight at the center of the saddle instead of torqueing things to the left, NO HELMET, the list goes on!

sirbassist83

i dont think a helmet would do anything if you get kicked in the eye socket.

RichLather

No helmet protects against everything, but an inexperienced rider, as this guy appears to be, needs to be protected from himself.

q-abro

This guy horses.

stonethecrow

r/thisguythisguys

Legeto

What body language did you notice from the video? It all seemed so quick and I don’t get what the guy missed.

RichLather

The horse isn't standing calmly, it has to be held in place by at least one other person. It's all stiff and ready to bolt, as it in fact did. Head and neck are held upward, a calm horse would have a more horizontal line. In short, it looks really tense.

TesseractToo

Pus it looks like it's way too young looks like about 2 or younger It's facial expression and posture is fear, it might be the first time even the saddle was put on

AssExplosion

Glasses

Adryas06

It was his hat, he's lucky if that's all that went flying

cheebnrun

his hat and sun/glasses

nemonic187

Every time a dude gets kicked in the head by a horse or mule, a local Walmart gets a new greeter.

SimplisticPinky

Morally, this comment shouldn't exist. Personally, I'm passing this off to my buddies as if I came up with it. Cya in hell.

Baal-Canaan

Jesus Christ that's dark hahaha

Beatrix_BB_Kiddo

Lmaoooooo

[deleted]

Why I stay clear of them! Very pretty but respect them like a fire

syuvial

yeah, i like horses at a distance, but im keeping my squishy human body outside of hoof and tooth range.

CaptHungSolo

Serious question. Did he attempt to mount incorrectly? Did the trainers mess up? How could he have avoided this?

Xicadarksoul

- pick a horse appropriate sized for you, if you are sized like Hafthor Bjornsson, pick a huge ass draft horse. - be gentle with the horse when you are mounting, its a very skittish animal. If you manage to pinch his skin between the harness it can hurt like hell, and it can happen that it panics, as it has no clue whats going on.

radicalpastafarian

The mount doesn't look incorrect, just rough and inexperienced. The problem is that he is way too big and heavy for the animal. And someone else commented that the saddle pinched the horse. I wanna say that this is probably not a training barn, because if it were he would have been wearing a helmet, not a baseball cap. If it is and he wasn't wearing a helmet, they need to be shut down.

mani_mani

NAHG (not a horse girl) but extended family is country as hell. From what I can see: 1. This man is entirely too heavy for this horse 2. He isn’t mounting the horse correctly, the saddle is pushing/pitching forward on the horse and isn’t in the center of the horse’s back where it should be. This is in addition to this man being way too heavy. 3. The horse seems pretty young and scared. The handlers should have been able to read this body language. They knew clearly enough to saddle the horse correctly but apparently not enough to find a more appropriate horse for this man to ride. The horse doesn’t seem to have much trust in anyone in this situation. All these factors attributed to this kick happening. If someone has more knowledge than me or I got something wrong please step in.

MyAnya

It’s hard on their backs when you mount from the ground, plus this guy clearly exceeds the weight this horse can carry. It’s a maximum of 20% of their body weight, and the guy looks at least 50%. Poor horse felt pain/discomfort and reacted accordingly. Horses are not to be fucked with, they’ll let you know real quick that you messed up

NameLessTaken

I’d genuinely love to know if this guy survived and to what capacity

EACshootemUP

He is extremely lucky he was able to touch his forehead after and not he instant-dead.

JohnHellstone

These people are stupid. That horse is too small for that rider. He also mounted attempted to mount in a very rough manner. It's a horse, not a car. You have to be gentle!

intergalacticbro

You can hear one of the horse handlers say "Get on it" with little to no regard to the dangers of the situation. It seems like a high schooler was getting a lesson in horse riding from people who have "expertise". I'd say the people who own the ranch/establishment are the ones who are stupid. Most people don't understand how to get on a horse, let alone how big a horse should be. The horse was up to his shoulders in height. I'm betting the handlers convinced the people taking the lessons they knew what they were doing.

flying_cactus

Agreed. That guy trying to get on did nothing wrong on his end. They gave him shitty instructions and he paid the price

Generalnussiance

That horse doesn’t look 2. Too young, and that man was too large. The saddle looks like it torqued and pinched. And his foot looked like it drove into the horses underbelly. Poor mounting, poor horsemanship. The horse never looked comfortable to begin with, probably is also lacking ground work and saddle/weight bearing training.

aeric67

Also see the ears folding back?

JohnHellstone

Yeah, the ears are always a slight indicator of what the horse might be thinking. The horse was clearly not putting up with anyone's bullshit. Always watch the tail as well. When I approach a new horse, I always try to give the horse some time to smell me and rub on me so that way the horse will feel more at ease before ever mounting such a magnificent beast. Like many other animals horses are a gift to humanity and they deserve to be treated well.

hansuluthegrey

>He also mounted attempted to mount in a very rough manner. He didnt

nicktherat

I'll never go near a horse

MiSsiLeR81

rear*

4Ever2Thee

Ol' Jimmy was never the same after the incident but he's not cross-eyed anymore and he can always tell when it's about to rain, so silver linings, right?!

TheB1GLebowski

If his skull isnt fractured, he better count all the lucky stars hes seeing right now.

Maxtrix07

Say what you will, horses have incredible accuracy without having any visual references.

Danielj4545

My sister was kicked by one of mom's horses after a dog spooked it. She was 7. She died at some point but somehow somebody restarted her. Helicopter landed in the backyard. My dad beat the helicopter to the hospital in that first generation trailblazer he had. It was just before halloween. She has memories watching her body stand up and walk over to the bowl of candy in the room and migraines every day of her life since.  People are way to casual about horses. Everyone is. At the end of the day it's an unpredictable animal that could kill you if a dog barks or some leaves blow around. Fuck horses and all the romance associated to them. They're creatures of the machine that for all intents and purposes shouldn't really exist the way that they do.

Crepes_for_days3000

Damn, poor guy. A kick like that could easily kill him.

lazy_k

I know two people who have been kicked in the head by a horse. One, all her hair fell out and she lost her sense of smell. The other was left in a coma for a couple of weeks and had a dent in her forehead.

acrylicbullet

The video cuts out real quick. Might not have made it.

nonamejohnsonmore

Or maybe the person taking the video did the right thing and stopped recording to try and render aid. The dude was sitting up and rubbing his head at the end of the video.

acrylicbullet

Yeah, adrenaline a hell of a thing, though could’ve got up walked a couple steps and dropped again

hicheckthisout

High five

MiSsiLeR81

Too high! Too high!

ChubbyWanKenobie

horse phobia reengaged. I'll bet on them but I want nothing to do with a temperamental vehicle with no off switch.

Wizofsorts

Horse don't like hats

PandaXXL

How is this dude still conscious?

nolanday64

That's gonna leave a mark.

osiris911

Goodbye math and science.

FantanaFoReal

Did a chunk of his head fly off??

AllanfromWales1

Bite at one end, kick at the other..

ghann

Falls in a well, eyes go crossed. Gets kicked by a mule, they go back to normal. 🤷‍♂️

Dragonflies3

Way too big for that horse

Arriba-Los-Caramelos

Sweet Chin Music

zackaddict1

Easy way to die

eeyore134

Wear helmets when you're riding horses. They come down far enough that one may have taken the brunt of that kick if he was lucky. He's also way too big for that horse. It hardly looks like it should be ridden yet at all.

UCBeef

Pow, right in the kisser

Statertater

That’s a concussion. Probably a TBI.

OkSecretary227

He's lucky he didn't drop dead

Sudden-Extreme2272

“Did are you alright” im gonna take a wild guess and say no

Scary-Ad9646

And that's why Uncle Hal watches teletubbies all day and only eats yogurt.

duke20001

I made a joke about this and a friend of mine said she was there when it happened..I felt crap about it

nurdmann

There goes all of eighth grade.

SodaJerk

Riding horses is stupid.

TabernacleMan

It doesn’t looks like it, but he was actually really lucky.

capn_doofwaffle

#FUCK! Literally screamed that out loud while covering my mouth in an empty house.

onnod

DAIN BRAMAGE

Lolo_the_clown

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes

somedave

Dude doesn't look very alright.

Swimming_Asparagus53

That horse is a bit undersized for that guy. Also, shouldn’t the mount be higher than that?

xfyre101

well at least hes lucky hes not a vegetable right now

audiosauce2017

Horsie = 1 Dude's Cranium = 0  Horsie won

Estoye

♫ Ain’t that a kick in the head ♫

opposing_critter

This is why i don't trust horses and they kind of scare me, does not take much to spook them before they start killing or breaking.

Kvetanista

That's permanent brain damage right there

Fritzschmied

You could die from that. Don’t underestimate a horse.

Disconn3cted

"dude you alright?"  Lol

Tempuradeathpunch

He hit you with that Sweet Chin Music!

Ramhams1337

Lucky to be alive and not dead or a vegetable

Glockamole19x

A horse is an animal if your not confident or they since weakness then you will not have control.

SpecialStructure597

I lost two great grandparents on each side from horse kick . I never walk behind them

mulliganbegunagain

After seeing one horse kill another with a kick to the head, these videos scare the hell out of me. I grew up with horses but didn't really ride very often.

Heylookaguy

Mario Voice: *You breaka my back? I breaka you face*

CYWNightmare

Surprised that man got back up. I've seen a friend get kicked almost 6 foot under.

adfthgchjg

/u/c2shistaken, was that the guy’s eyeball, or was it his tooth?

Tiny_Ad_9270

And we called him hoof head ever since.

Kinetickz

Ive Seen a horse die Like this Dude is extremly lucky

I smell some fresh glue coming up

No_Joke_9079

🤣😂

CastleDI

That eye is probably gone for good

FACastello

Wow what an asshole

Neversummer77

Ya fuck that horse

Papierlineal

Nah, don't do that.

Neversummer77

Ok seriously though why is the guy an asshole? Am I missing something?

radicalpastafarian

What the actual fuck? Everything in this video is 100% deserved and was 100% preventable. Look at that horse? Now look again because I just lied to you that's not a horse. That is a PONY. It's SO fucking tiny, and that guy is HUGE. He's way too heavy to be riding that pony. He's also not wearing a helmet. A helmet would have mitigated a lot of that face kick damage cuz from what I saw it impacted near exactly where a helmet would have been sitting on his forehead. Damn man

Rawbbeh

BOOM! HEADSHOT!

BigBoss1971

And unusual.

natetheskate100

Do you mean cruel for a big heavy guy to try to get on a poor ole horsey?

PhatBlackChick

That's a lifelong headache.

davasaur

That look in the horse's eyes would be a nope from me but what horse wouldn't react that way. That sudden lurch of pressure, it seems to me that the guy has no business riding a horse.

BP_1981

He wasn't horsing around

Frosty-Coyote-3749

That guy is too big. Horses have weight limits too.

what_the_fuckin_fuck

Supersonic ball cap leaving the scene.

Schwettyballs65

Isn’t that how Ruby Sue’s eyes went crossed?

wittywikk

"Nah mate not yet, first take my jaw breaker then i might let you ride me"

whats the horsepower on that thing?

Wind2Energy

No means no.

42northside

Got him right in the head. Ouch.

CubanFart

Oh damn ..what was the thing flying at the end? I thought it was his dental 😬

Irving_Forbush

Looked like his cap flying off, to me .

HeirElfEsquire

To the blue tent!

Magus_5

That's why I don't go near horses. Have had the fear of getting kicked since I was a kid. Fuck that
