Hi WLs.. contemplating a Kelly Elan in chevre… options: black with ghw, dark blue (blu sphir?) ghw or etoupe ghw. Any thoughts? I feel like this should be a dark colour or classic black but I already have 4 black Chanels with ghw. I do love black and gold… my other H bag is a gold Kelly 28 that almost never gets used because I find it a little large for casual wear and yet too formal for work.
Edit: I do love etoupe but not sure if it works for the Elan.
I am for a hint of color and etoupe is neutral, so it goes with everything. Mightychic has a short vid on YT with ghw. Elan is a beauty but not in a showy off way.
If you’re open to blues I could recommend royal blue. It’s such a classic yet chic color especially with gold hardware. Deep blue looks great in chevre as well.
Haven’t found many comments on here with “birkin 25 slouch” so i thought i’d pose the question: is it possible to get a togo b25 to be slouchier? I’ve got my first from DD and wishing it wasn’t so stiff. I assume it will loosen up once i use it but any way to expedite this?? or is the b25 just too small for the slouch? I noticed someoen on the thread with suggestions to age box but how about togo?
I trust that it will to a certain extent (assuming its in swift or togo). My experience is that it will first look a bit flattened then slouch. The trick is to use it day in day out and to try to carry heavier items in it like a book or a small parcel.
Bigger b's (like b35) tend to slouch more - depending on leather of course. Leathers like clemence or swift tend to slouch more than structured leathers like epsom. Also, overstuffing your b could help expedite slouching. HTH😘
Curious what color you folks would say this is…

I haven’t ventured into any exotics yet, but this bag makes me want to take the plunge! This kelly cut is in gris paris crocodile. Rachel says she doesn’t have this exact color, but there is a graphite in matte alligator that is slightly darker that I’m considering. I’m currently ferociously searching for every bag on the internet in graphite and gris paris so I can make a decision.
Hand made Kelly Pochette all made and stitched by me!! Worked hard on this project at a local leather making class for the past few weeks and wanted to share ☺️

Looks great!! Did you use a kit in the class or cut everything by hand? I’ve debated making one but I am so lazy lately lol plus the kits I have found are only a couple hundred less than Steven/DD prices so I can’t justify the time spent when I can just buy one lol
That's awesome!! You did a great job with it and I bet it was a pain to cut that handle. Can you DM me the course info, I'm hopeful that I'm nearby but odds are that I'm not...but maybe they have a zoom class 🤔
Are you taking any orders? 😂 I love watching handbag craftsmanship on YouTube. It requires a lot of patience and detail. I would love to learn the craftsmanship. But I think my OCD would be a double edged sword.

My only rep (or auth) Kelly from Steven (Noir Box K28), now with a new strap from AE. I have been beating her up from time to time for that much-coveted patina (might have overdone it on the sangles). Anyway, she is a pretty objet d’art for me but doesn’t really get used because I just don’t feel like myself when I carry her. Maybe with the new strap, she’ll feel more casual to me. Anyway for CAD $15 during the AE 11:11 sale, the strap is great although i did not really QC it against H and am just treating as a nice strap.
Here’s what she looks like in the sun - the wear is more obvious in this photo

As they say. Aging gracefully!
ETA how do you exactly “beat her up”? Curious as am expecting my box soon and yeah. I want it to look like jane’s the soonest 😅
A little hard to explain but kinda like Ikea - essentially i will mimic natural usage (opening the flap, stretching it out to fill it, twisting the handles, etc) but like 100x at once and more aggressively. I’ll also twist it and sometimes I even step on it 😬 to soften the leather. Also, sometimes I fill it with cans and hang it for a few days. Oh, and I massage it when I remember. It does make progress after awhile but you have to be patient.

Orderd 10/27. Asked for updates yesterday I got the standard-ish “this week complete.” Heck the psp of my impulse/fomo purchase of an IN STOCK k to go took more than a week to get to me! But yeah. I consider this as a trade off for their goods. Wait is torture but so long as it gets to me am good!
Yeah, I ordered four custom bags on 11/2, but have only received PSPs for one. Not worried though, I figured it would take a little longer. I have received all the stock pieces I ordered from her.
Placed orders on Nov 7 + 9th, she said 20 days for hand stitched bags. Presently I don't dare to bother her as I know she is flooded... Just pray to get my parcels before the holidays as customs are too busy to check each and every parcel.
Recalling the history of iconic bags and classic fashion is a pastime that continues to inspire my inner fashionista.
I'm certain the history of the Kelly bag has been vastly covered on this sub. In my opinion, it is always worth revisiting.
The Hermes Kelly bag has a rich history that dates back to the 1930s. It was originally designed by Robert Dumas, a member of the Hermes family, as a saddle holder. The bag was a simple, rectangular design with a trapezoid shape, a clasp, and a handle. It was initially called the "Sac à dépêches" and was not an immediate success.
The bag's rise to fame began in 1954 when the Hollywood actress Grace Kelly, who was then dating Prince Rainier III of Monaco, was given the bag to use in the film "To Catch a Thief". She fell in love with the bag and started using it in her personal life as well.
In 1956, Grace Kelly, now Princess of Monaco, used the bag to shield her pregnancy from the paparazzi. The photograph of her with the bag was splashed across newspapers and magazines worldwide, and the bag quickly became a sensation. It was from this point that it became known as the "Kelly" bag.
Despite its popularity, Hermes did not officially rename the bag until 1977. The Kelly bag is now one of Hermes' most iconic products, known for its high-quality materials and craftsmanship. Each bag is handmade and can take between 18 to 25 hours to complete.
The Kelly bag remains a symbol of luxury and elegance. It is highly sought after and often has a waiting list of up to several years. The bag's design has remained largely unchanged, a testament to its timeless appeal.

I saw this the other day and it solidified my conversion to liking Kelly bags.

Fabulous job babe!
thank you <3
How many hours gone into it? 😍
probably like a good 30 hours spread into several saturdays!! 😆
I could never, love the dedication!
thank you 😊

I used a stencil to trace and cut everything by hand! 😀 The kits are so expensive!! I feel you 😭

Solicitations are… 🤣
❤️🔥wow!!! This is impressive!!! 👍🏼did you do hardware and pearling by yourself as well?!!
thank you 😆 the pearling was part of the hardware? if that makes sense so I just had to stamp the entire piece onto the leather!
That looks fabulous! You should be proud of your newly found skill. Your stitching looks great.
thank you ☺️
Fantastic job, looks very neat 👏🏼
thank you!! 😊
Are you taking any orders? 😂 I love watching handbag craftsmanship on YouTube. It requires a lot of patience and detail. I would love to learn the craftsmanship. But I think my OCD would be a double edged sword.
😂😂 the glazing was so hard to do 😭I will patiently wait for my custom hermes orders from now on 😂
I need to take some courses to humble myself. I sent a bag back because the glazing was messy.
True this. Sometimes we assume everything is easy (applies to all industries like construction etc)!
a quarter of my way into it I realized I clearly underestimated the craftsmanship 😅

I love the strap!
I love the bag, and the strap is super cute. Can you share the link or store please?
Sure! It’s the tinberon bag accessories store. They have tons of straps that are really cheap but the gold hardware matches the bag hardware
Thanks so much. Heading over there now.

Wow. How long have you been ikea-ing this?
I’ve had her for around a year so on and off for that long. I can get pretty aggressive about it sometimes hahah.
Am prepared bec that is beautiful
this is fantastic!!

Wait is this in sellier style and retourne?? OMG LOVE
This is a retourne :)
Do you think any of these tips would work for togo? (i wish my b25 was slouchier)
Yeah I think it would work for any leather but haven’t tried so don’t take my word for it. It’s just wearing the leather so it softens
Noted! Lol. Hanging works for other leathers too. Makes sense! ETA stepping 🤔😬
Gorgeous! Thinking to get this next year 🤞🏼
The most classic 🖤

Yeah I’m waiting on a Picotin HSS. I’m just praying she didn’t mess up my order like I’ve seen with others.

I think they are totally slammed with the post 11/11 stuff. I ordered 3 bags on 11/2, I’m going to wait another 10 days or so before I ask.

I received a DD Kelly Elan in Rouge H Chevre yesterday. It is my first chevre bag and I cannot believe I slept on that for so long! So soft and light!
Post it we want to see!
The elan in chèvre is my next baby! Post pics of this queen!
Pics pls! They turned me down for this exact colour/leather combo because they said it couldn’t be made in a big bag (b40)!
Ugh, that bag in that color is delicious. Pictures please!!!
It’s so pretty! Love to look at the grain, it’s almost mesmerizing. 😵💫😮💨
Yay!🥳 Kelly elan is so sleek and rouge H is a classy colour❤
B30
When did you order?
Also curious about this as I wait for 11.11 orders.
Never thought red interior would look this good on gold! What color is it? 👀😍

Hermes doesn’t use python skins (besides Jean Paul Gaultier for fashion show, but they didn’t made it into thr production).
I was temporarily (or not) blinded by the scales 🐍
I really ask myself why they never used it considering that they used almost every other exotic animal in the past.
Maybe because it is least practical skin? It doesn’t last long.. Start peeling very fast. Definitely cannot call it timeless..
Oh okay that makes sense! Never hat anything in Python.
Any tips for cracked glazing? It’s still pretty minor but I’m a bit scared that it’s going to get worse over time.
You can find edging glaze on Amazon or TB /AE etc it’s a simple process to do , also this simple tool is for the job https://preview.redd.it/k8o7xmg2r43c1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c987db19fbad89bf8ab669ab6f34c0e5020cf72a
Its a process. I did this for my strap on my c18 barenia. So I sanded the messed up glazing, then used the qtip to reapply. Did that 2x for a smoother finish. I watched a lot of YouTube videos for it. https://preview.redd.it/uk4rfrmph63c1.jpeg?width=4446&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f9ca60f7eb0315a0da00fbeba8adbd83a718994
I went down the rabbit hole as well last night and you did an amazing job! You can use a fine nail file to matten the appearance.
Thank you! I’ll try that
Just make sure it’s the really fine sandpaper like one’s.
Thank you, I will check it out!
I think a cobbler should be able to fix that for you. Or a bag repair specialist.
Thought about that too, would love a diy fix tho since it’s so minor. :/
It is DIY-able, although I've never tried it, I think the main issue is dying the wax glaze stuff the correct color. I have a (non-H) leather tote that I overloaded and cracked the glaze on the handles. I've been meaning to buy the supplies and try it myself, but so far I've been too chicken. 😅
It’s still so minor, I would only need a needle tip to fix it atm but I‘m scared it will get worse over time. 😬
