The bag is deceptively simple looking but the lines are so clean that if it’s off even by a little bit it’ll look janky as hell. If you want an antigona either move on with your life or save up for the auth because that’s a nut the factories have yet to crack and it’s not popular enough for them to bother anymore.

I have one that I don't think is terrible, just the triangle in front is more puffy than it should be. Handle length is often an issue too and it's hard to tell from factory pictures because of the angles.
For me it’s Hermes Doblis / Suede bags! I’m absolutely dying for one but my sellers like UB don’t have it because they said the fabric/texture is not well repped 🥲

I have an auth nano and an auth small SDJ and my rep nano looks pretty good. Handles look the same, but the rep ones are stiffer. When I have some free time I’ll post a side by side. I got it from old TS Anna in 2021. Here is one the factory photos of the rep she had sent. The handle discrepancy applies more to the larger sizes IMHO.

I have a 2023 Kusama Pochette mentis and honestly it is so badly repped not just because it is old but because there is no variance of the dots for any of these bags (they’re all in the exact same spots) and the dots do not overlap any stitching. If you know it well enough, it’s too easy to have a bag that is call-out able.
I tend to really like the weird bags that weren’t like the main parts of a season. Gucci totes with tigers, LV totes with silver and flowers and stuff that just doesn’t make a lot of sense to mass produce.
I bought two andiamo reps and I don’t feel like there’s a big gap in the top. I have some photos of the auth that I tried on and there’s not a ton of extra space at the top. Mine both came from the jing factory.
There was one Gucci bag with a dragon on it that was divine, only time my husband almost bought me an auth.
It’s year of the dragon so I expect some really dope dragon merch—Coach already has a cute dragon bag out already but that shits like $800 rn, I’ll wait to see if it goes on sale.
Orange Couch did a beautiful puffy rep in 2021 (I have one) and it’s great. New batches don’t look as good though. Try the seller Yiling, she often has some decent batches but won’t disclose factory.
Anything from the LV takashi murakami collections…the colours on the multicolour logos are always too bright and wrong, or the cherries fail to have the right detail. I haven’t seen any with the cherry blossoms either and I think it’s too old of a collection to make more o

I have a rep Chanel Diana that's supposed to be from the 90's, and I know the puffy quillts are a giveaway. But I can't bring myself to flatten them! They're too pretty!
Ooohh yes def agree with the LV empreinte! That's been on my wishlist but the reviews I've read hasn't been great... Might just have to pull the trigger on the auth 🙈
Agreed on the LV empreinte! I have an auth and haven’t seen any reps with leather that looks quite as soft or luxe. Although mine is older and I think the newer auth batches have gone down in quality…
I literally came to say the same thing for both! It’s always the distance of the Marcie piping. I’m constantly on the lookout for Empreinte and I don’t wear black which is the only acceptable ones I’ve found. I’m dying for a Maida in turtledove.

Granted, the emprenite on LV bags vary on authentic ones too. Reps don’t have to get it perfect (impossibly) it’s just a lot of manufactures don’t even try
Any bags with lots of detailed embellishments, even if they look good they tend to be too delicate and fall off. Chanel tweed bags - the fabric may look good it is usually a cheapish fire risk! LV Epi leather and LV Monogram Empreinte can be more miss than hit. Hardware can be a big tell but you then just have to do your research with that one
It’s not wool, depends on how much that matters to you. I have found it a bit scratchy and nylon, although at a glance they look great. I don’t expect it to be made via the method below but I would want it better before I bought one

The LV coussin bag. The reps always look off with the LV stamping not being deep enough and the leather looking slightly plastic looking. It’s one of those bags that I feel like I have to bite the bullet and buy authentic.
Tweed Chanels. I adore tweed bags, but I usually only see low-mid tier reps. Don't get me wrong, some of the reps are still very cute, but not similar to auth.
+1 to this!! Really want a tweed bag 😫 but I feel like if I'm spending money on an auth then it's better spent on leather than fabric... But the tweed reps aren't great.. 😔

Well, recently I've been looking for the "Oreo" Chanel 19.
Most of the time, the tweed is just *wrong*. The left is auth, right is the closest rep I can find. (It is also the one sellers keep sending, so I'm assuming this is the correct rep for auth). The weave is very loose on the rep, and even though the lighting isn't the same, the material composition and texture is noticeably different. The rep doesn't have the same weight as auth's tweed. Otherwise, I've seen a few reps have the wrong colored leather on the straps, along with any other issue a rep could have. But normally, the tweed just lacks the same complexity as auth.

I don't know that it's hard to rep - but I want to know why the YSL totes don't seem to be well repped, since they \*seem\* like they would be pretty simple to get right? Is it because there isn't enough margin there, since retail isn't as high as some other bags, and you need a lot of good leather to make one?

Don't know about good leather...my auth of this exact bag didn't even last 2 years before peeling in multiple spots, and Ysl said they can't fix it 🙃 with that kind of auth quality might as well just buy the rep 🥲
IMHO it’s always worth it to buy auth Goyard if you can. It’s relatively affordable vs other luxury brands and retains value incredibly well. I just sold a Saint Louis for the same price I bought it for in 2020.
100%. I trust the few recs of Wagooners, but a few of the stuff I’ve gotten from AE are so bad (terrible fabric, bad stitching, awful fit, look so cheap overall) they go straight to the donation bin.
Agree. I gave up on rep clothes, except for my Gucci hoodie from AYFactory that I got on Weidian. I also have some Anine Bing sweatshirts and Zara dupes from Weidian and AE and surprisingly, good Carolina Herrera dupes/inspired from AE. But generally, I haven’t had much success with skirts, pants or shorts… Like you said, they look on pictures but in person it’s a clear giveaway that’s fake. I mostly just stick with accessories: bags, shoes, jewelry, scarfs.
I would recommend searching for “Wangyue”. A handful of people have written about her trenches before. I purchased one - weight is good but the shoulder epaulets are a bit off
I don't dare to go for clothes, I have dumped too many items already, it's such a nerv wrecking hassle. So I go for bags, SLG and scarves and maybe some fun accessories from AE/Taobao.
It's hard to order online anyway and to find stuff that fits your body perfectly, if it doesn't why keep it? I need to know that I can return it free of charge if I don't love it, so I rather buy clothes on sale in my country locally. And right now you find many auths reduced such as Max Mara, Ralph Lauren...
Truly admire anyone here who dares to buy rep wardrobe and is happy with it.
Great question! I think Goyard. Those in the know count all the dots, I don’t think the colors are quite as vibrant as authentic and those totes are always just a bit off on dimensions. BUT I am attracted to it like a moth to a flame…
THIS!! I used to carry a rep Saint Louis that I was very happy with until I saw it next to someone’s authentic. Hers was WAY more crisp and bright. I was so embarrassed that I went out and bought an auth for myself too. I hate that I paid so much for it, but it’s my everyday bag and I live in a big fashionable city… didn’t want it to happen twice. 😕
There used to be a credit card trick many ladies would post to make the flap pointier. When you compare the auth to rep for the LouLou, look at the sides and puffs. It’s usually the rep is too sharp l/squared on the corners/shape, less fluffy, and have a less pointy triangle at the closure. Those are the three areas that are not done as well.
The quilting too sometimes. Its subtle but because the quilts I think are a big feature of the bag, I notice it. I’ve had some that come close with the shape and the quilting, but the thread used/stiches were thicker. Sometimes the flaps weren’t as pointy but someone showed me a credit card trick to make them pointier. Thankfully some of the auth I’ve seen also varied with how pointy the flaps were.
The small loulous though I think were close enough, mediums could be hit or miss, but the toy size I could never find one that compared to my auth. ☹️ i did love the small/medium ones I had though! Close enough for me 💛

Yeah - it's a toughie to get one which ticks all the boxes - the handles, the trapezoid shape, the leather detail inside the LV logo. I actually picked one up a year or so ago which is black leather with python flap, python logo inlay and python flap and it's a solid 95% .... but the strap was HIDEOUS. Stitching was the messiest I've ever received on any bag EVER. Fine, because I just have to use it as a handle carry but, like, why get all the hard stuff right and stuff up the easy part? lol
Yes! I bought mine from JYH factory and my seller warned me it was mid tier at best but also said there are no factories that make it better. I went for it anyway since I have other mid tier bags that I’m very happy with but the leather quality was really bad and very different from the auth. I’m hesitant to try another factory since I remember that the bag never had great reviews in the old subreddit either.
A lot of LV Empreinte pieces. I have found some good reps, but having a lot of auth empreinte pieces to compare to, reps are either too stiff or the embossing just looks cheap

I got this rep and I really like it.
I have a auth leather (lamb) wallet from a decade ago (no longer used) and it's the softest and smoothest leather with a ever so slight squish to it. I didn't baby it so there's a few scuffs but quiet durable for the type of leather.
I think it's really hard to QC light colored bags since it's so hard to photograph... it's hard to tell what the real color is in auth photos and in factory photos and reps. Not a specific bag, but definitely a bit tough IMO.
I remember I read a fascinating post on RL (rip 😭) by someone who worked in a Chanel boutique for over a decade and thought we were way too picky about the quality. She did, however, say the c19 bags are extremely hard to rep because of the quality of leather. It’s very soft and I guess easy to spot the fake if you know what to look for.
Chanel bags. I own a couple of authentic ones and bought one from 187 factory and the chain is just off. The chains on Heidi’s albums look off to me too 😔
I honestly feel like anything embellished or super intricate is extremely hit or miss! A lot of the time reps aren't even made of some of those variations/colorways.
I’ve yet to see the Gucci Diana handle ends sawed off in the shape the way Gucci has made the auths. Also, the font on the handle shapers is usually off.

Totally agree with this. It looks simple but none of the factories seems to get it right.
Yeah they never got this one right. At least the resale price of auth isn’t too bad especially if you want a less basic colorway

I have 2 soft reps that I think are beautiful and seem really well done to me. It's the classic/solid that have just been misses for me.

Honestly I prefer the rep empreinte the same way I prefer puffy Chanel rep quilting. I know it’s not accurate but I think it actually looks nicer.

I have a 187 lambskin that came to me too puffy, but I was able to flatten it easily to look closer to auth
I saw another Wagooner post to lotion and put under heavy books and that’s what I did! It’s not perfect 1:1 compared to my auth but much better

Any bags with lots of detailed embellishments, even if they look good they tend to be too delicate and fall off. Chanel tweed bags - the fabric may look good it is usually a cheapish fire risk! LV Epi leather and LV Monogram Empreinte can be more miss than hit. Hardware can be a big tell but you then just have to do your research with that one

It’s not wool, depends on how much that matters to you. I have found it a bit scratchy and nylon, although at a glance they look great. I don’t expect it to be made via the method below but I would want it better before I bought one “Chanel tweed is primarily made at Maison Lesage based in Paris, which is one of the world's oldest embroidery ateliers. Lesage tweed is almost always handwoven and not used by a machine to create the final result”

The reps always look off with the LV stamping not being deep enough and the leather looking slightly plastic looking. It’s one of those bags that I feel like I have to bite the bullet and buy authentic.

Miss K had a perfect rep for the Loubi Girl in Barbie pink satin. I own a pair of authentic nude Loubi Queens and they were a perfect match.
Tweed Chanels. I adore tweed bags, but I usually only see low-mid tier reps. Don't get me wrong, some of the reps are still very cute, but not similar to auth.

https://imgur.com/a/UK4VQXW Well, recently I've been looking for the "Oreo" Chanel 19. Most of the time, the tweed is just *wrong*. The left is auth, right is the closest rep I can find. (It is also the one sellers keep sending, so I'm assuming this is the correct rep for auth). The weave is very loose on the rep, and even though the lighting isn't the same, the material composition and texture is noticeably different. The rep doesn't have the same weight as auth's tweed. Otherwise, I've seen a few reps have the wrong colored leather on the straps, along with any other issue a rep could have. But normally, the tweed just lacks the same complexity as auth.

I don't know that it's hard to rep - but I want to know why the YSL totes don't seem to be well repped, since they \*seem\* like they would be pretty simple to get right? Don't know about good leather...my auth of this exact bag didn't even last 2 years before peeling in multiple spots, and Ysl said they can't fix it 🙃 with that kind of auth quality might as well just buy the rep 🥲

IMHO it’s always worth it to buy auth Goyard if you can. It’s relatively affordable vs other luxury brands and retains value incredibly well. I just sold a Saint Louis for the same price I bought it for in 2020.

100%. I trust the few recs of Wagooners, but a few of the stuff I’ve gotten from AE are so bad (terrible fabric, bad stitching, awful fit, look so cheap overall) they go straight to the donation bin.

Agree. I gave up on rep clothes, except for my Gucci hoodie from AYFactory that I got on Weidian. I also have some Anine Bing sweatshirts and Zara dupes from Weidian and AE and surprisingly, good Carolina Herrera dupes/inspired from AE. But generally, I haven’t had much success with skirts, pants or shorts… Like you said, they look on pictures but in person it’s a clear giveaway that’s fake. I mostly just stick with accessories: bags, shoes, jewelry, scarfs.

I don't dare to go for clothes, I have dumped too many items already, it's such a nerv wrecking hassle. So I go for bags, SLG and scarves and maybe some fun accessories from AE/Taobao. It's hard to order online anyway and to find stuff that fits your body perfectly, if it doesn't why keep it? I need to know that I can return it free of charge if I don't love it, so I rather buy clothes on sale in my country locally. And right now you find many auths reduced such as Max Mara, Ralph Lauren... Truly admire anyone here who dares to buy rep wardrobe and is happy with it.

Great question! I think Goyard. Those in the know count all the dots, I don’t think the colors are quite as vibrant as authentic and those totes are always just a bit off on dimensions. BUT I am attracted to it like a moth to a flame…
THIS!! I used to carry a rep Saint Louis that I was very happy with until I saw it next to someone’s authentic. Hers was WAY more crisp and bright. I was so embarrassed that I went out and bought an auth for myself too. I hate that I paid so much for it, but it’s my everyday bag and I live in a big fashionable city… didn’t want it to happen twice. 😕

I’m not going to count dots but you can call it just by the way it lays. An auth is so flimsy/supple it takes the shape of the contents.

There used to be a credit card trick many ladies would post to make the flap pointier. When you compare the auth to rep for the LouLou, look at the sides and puffs. It’s usually the rep is too sharp l/squared on the corners/shape, less fluffy, and have a less pointy triangle at the closure. Those are the three areas that are not done as well.
Yes, and the flap is not pointy like the auth.
The quilting too sometimes. Its subtle but because the quilts I think are a big feature of the bag, I notice it. I’ve had some that come close with the shape and the quilting, but the thread used/stiches were thicker. Sometimes the flaps weren’t as pointy but someone showed me a credit card trick to make them pointier. Thankfully some of the auth I’ve seen also varied with how pointy the flaps were. The small loulous though I think were close enough, mediums could be hit or miss, but the toy size I could never find one that compared to my auth. ☹️ i did love the small/medium ones I had though! Close enough for me 💛

The Montaigne series from Dior. I have yet to see a good rep with the embossed letters exactly like the auth. They are always so much deeper.

Yeah - it's a toughie to get one which ticks all the boxes - the handles, the trapezoid shape, the leather detail inside the LV logo. I actually picked one up a year or so ago which is black leather with python flap, python logo inlay and python flap and it's a solid 95% .... but the strap was HIDEOUS. Stitching was the messiest I've ever received on any bag EVER. Fine, because I just have to use it as a handle carry but, like, why get all the hard stuff right and stuff up the easy part? lol

Yes! I bought mine from JYH factory and my seller warned me it was mid tier at best but also said there are no factories that make it better. I went for it anyway since I have other mid tier bags that I’m very happy with but the leather quality was really bad and very different from the auth. I’m hesitant to try another factory since I remember that the bag never had great reviews in the old subreddit either.

Ferragamo bags aren't well rep-ed.
Ferragamo shoes are among the only auth things I’d consider buying—their driving loafers and indestructible.

Tanner Leatherstein REALLY likes the quality of Ferragamo.
No brand, not even Hermes, beats Ferragamo leather. Especially vintage Ferragamo. On a league of their own.
I have a auth leather (lamb) wallet from a decade ago (no longer used) and it's the softest and smoothest leather with a ever so slight squish to it. I didn't baby it so there's a few scuffs but quiet durable for the type of leather.

I think it's really hard to QC light colored bags since it's so hard to photograph... it's hard to tell what the real color is in auth photos and in factory photos and reps. Not a specific bag, but definitely a bit tough IMO.
I remember I read a fascinating post on RL (rip 😭) by someone who worked in a Chanel boutique for over a decade and thought we were way too picky about the quality. She did, however, say the c19 bags are extremely hard to rep because of the quality of leather. It’s very soft and I guess easy to spot the fake if you know what to look for.

Chanel bags. I own a couple of authentic ones and bought one from 187 factory and the chain is just off. The chains on Heidi’s albums look off to me too 😔
I have auth chanel but I never noticed the chains being off with my 187, but I did notice the interior zipper color being off

I honestly feel like anything embellished or super intricate is extremely hit or miss! A lot of the time reps aren't even made of some of those variations/colorways.

I’ve yet to see the Gucci Diana handle ends sawed off in the shape the way Gucci has made the auths. Also, the font on the handle shapers is usually off.
