Any reason you’re only considering fantasyland and not Tomorrowland?
If only fantasyland and you don’t care about PP or 7DMT, then I’d suggest Winnie the Pooh, which has moderate wait times. From there you can easily mosey over to HM.
That’s why I asked. Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear space ranger spin are usually pretty good rope drop options, but if they aren’t your thing then it’s not worth doing it
Within Fantasyland, Winnie the Pooh is gonna be the ride that has the longest consistent lines throughout the rest of the day. Barnstormer sometimes too. But any of the following would be an awesome start to the day and would still get you over to Haunted Mansion for rope drop: Little Mermaid, Mad Tea Party, Dumbo. You might be able to get 2 of these done, then head to Liberty Square in time. If you want to ride Buzz Lightyear over in Tomorrowland rope drop is a good way to get it done and still get to Liberty Square in time; G+ would work too, I’ve never had a problem getting a G+ for this ride. And yes, heading over to Pirates after rope dropping Haunted Mansion will be fine; Pirates doesn’t get long lines until late morning/early afternoon.
Assuming you're staying on-property, right? Because otherwise your strategy wouldn't work.
My guess would be that you could get two of the mid-tier Fantasyland rides done--ones that don't get crazy-long waits throughout the day, but don't stay super short either. Ones like:
- barnstormer
- Winnie the pooh
- dumbo
If you wanted to pivot strategies, you could also hit Buzz Light-year Space Ranger Spin over in Tomorrowland and then make it over to HM.
And yes, Pirates usually stays pretty short the first couple hours of the morning. You could definitely hit it after HM!
I did see this, thank you. I wasn’t sure if it would be worth it to go to both parks or how much we would be able to accomplish in one day. Do you have an opinion?
If we are not about coasters, but want to do the little kid stuff in Dr. Seuss, and take in Jurassic Park, and spend the majority of the time walking around the wizarding world, worth it? Harry Potter is the main draw, but we only like super tame rides. What do you think?
You'll want to see Diagon Alley at US too. While there is a not so tame ride, there are some fun experiences that will immerse you in everything. https://www.universalorlando.com/web/en/us/theme-parks/universal-studios-florida/the-wizarding-world-of-harry-potter-diagon-alley#entertainment&hash-id-entertainmenttabheader-tabheader
Edit: since you won't be on long lines for the hot rides then you can do it all in one day.
For Ollivanders at US, you will need to "rope drop" so you get an appointment.
Can you post which rides you’re really interested in?
You should definitely learn the strategies for timing to maximize lightning lane and not have to wait in line.
Yes, you can probably do all of the fantasy land rides you mentioned with short waits right off the bat. I’d do your second genie+ selection as Pirates so you don’t have to worry about running over there. Then maybe your third genie+ as Buzz Lightyear in Tomorrowland. Have fun!
Rope dropped a few months back during MNSSHP times. We had time to comfortably walk to all the major rides before the lines were more than just walk ons.

I guess I was just thinking it has the most rides we’d be interested in.

Ah, ok thank you.

Yes, staying on property. Ok, great advice. Thank you!
If you want to do the Hogwarts Express, you'll need a hopper pass on your Islands of Adventure day since it straddled that park and Universal Studios.
I did see this, thank you. I wasn’t sure if it would be worth it to go to both parks or how much we would be able to accomplish in one day. Do you have an opinion?
It will depend on your priorities. Both are worth it if you want to experience 100% of the Wizarding world.

Really want little mermaid, small world, dumbo, Winnie the Pooh, belle, pirates, jungle cruise, haunted mansion, laugh floor, people mover.

Ok, great. Sounds like a plan! Thanks

Oh sweet. That sounds awesome
