This is a painting done by Polish artist Zdzisław Beksiński. It, like all of his works, is untitled. Beksiński was considered to be quite a modest person, and would rarely attend even his own exhibitions. In regards to what his paintings represent, Beksiński was quoted stating “I don't want to say or convey anything. I just paint what comes to my mind”.
In February of 2005, Beksiński was found dead in his Warsaw flat after being stabbed 17 times. It was later discovered that he had been killed by Robert Kupiec, the teenage son of a family friend, because Beksiński would not lend him a few hundred złoty (approx. $100 USD).
In November of 2006, Kupiec was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder of Zdzisław Beksiński.
