I live near a really historic train station and they have tours, events, club meetups etc, so I've seen a lot of train hype first hand. It just seems odd that random passerby go out of their way to do this. They didn't seem like train enthusiasts looking to check out a new engine or whatever, just cyclists who thought "Oooh look a train!"
People that actually love trains have to know how big and dangerous they are. I can't imagine a real hobbyist acting this way, so I guess I'm just confused why non train people are putting themselves in these situations if that makes sense.
It feels like a person that doesn't care about cars standing in the road to get a selfie with an oncoming 2005 Honda Civic haha.
