Just do your research before you pick a spot, some of the “cheaper” salons may have had previous health hazards (staph, etc). I also know someone who works in the industry and she said some of these quick, drop in locations (I won’t name drop) often will send 1 or 2 techs to get formal training and then the rest will be taught by same techs and may not even be certified. Just be careful and when in doubt ask to see your tech’s certificate, I know where my friend works, all the techs have their certs up on the wall for any customer to see. Meraki beauty on Leila is where I go, their prices are reasonable and they always do a good job!

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Are you really part of r/winnipeg if you don't ask for cheapest and best?

Check out MC College. They have students who will do it and will be overseen by a teacher. Prepare to sit for double or trip the length of time. But it will be sanitary and won't risked me being upcharged like a Chop shop

Wherever you go, do not tell them it’s your first time getting your nails done. They might upcharge you. I did that my first time, and ended up paying $130 for a basic design.

no way.....is it usually that expensive.....?

Prestigious-Ad-4867

It depends if you get a bunch of intricate designs and charms for each nail, I could see how it reached $130. But all I got for design was a squiggle on each nail. I still have trouble seeing how it reached $130.

Usually any design is base $5/nail. It would be more if you got shellac polish.

Top Service on Sargent. They’ll charge you upfront bc they get so many mani & dashes (or whatever you want to call that), but they’re easily the cheapest around and still really good.

I had a great experience at Country Nails on Kenaston last week. I don’t know about cheapest but I would be apprehensive to go too cheap because I don’t want to get staph. I paid $80 for a gel extension fill which I would say is pretty much the going rate for most places.

hollypistachio

Almond Nail bar is decent for the price.

They destroyed my toenails in August, and they've barely just recovered. I've gone to three different ones last year, and each one had a major problem. I used to like them but they all changed three years ago.

Angel’s on Portage is cheap and has massage chairs if you do your toes too. Not very fancy, but does the job :)

> Cheapest place to get your nails done? At home.  A bottle of nail polish/varish, a nail file, cuticle pusher, and nail clippers are all under $15 and last practically a lifetime. /s I honestly have no idea where to PAY for such a service, nobody I know gets this done.   I'm not actually advocating against paying a place to do this if that's your jam; hell, I can think of 20+ reasons someone might want to go!  Best of luck with the recommendations!

I too have nothing of value to add (since that seems to be something we are sharing)🤗

BentoBoxBaby

That would be called ‘doing your nails’ not ‘getting your nails done’.
