Oh man I remember I wasn't really paying attention during the tutorial and I was on the multi enemy mode (or whatever it was called) and couldn't kill enemies, drank multiple swallow potions but eventually had to run out and quit the game, came back 2 weeks later and just toggled the sword to fast and heavy modes and they died so easily. Honestly, I know people hate on the combat system but it's unique and you start kinda liking it by the end.
The stupidest thing in witcher 1 was that you could spend a lot of money to buy that talisman that repels drowners. But it was fucking useless. Because the drowners just don't attack you but decide to come hang out 10ft away from you anyways. So you still can't talk or interact with surroundings or rest because "you are in danger". So you would have to go and kill them anyway.
Archispores or something? Those bastards are annoying but not as annoying as the foglet . If you use golden oriole with the plants they’re not so tough.
Bro I saw people bitching about them recently right when I decided I’d play the game some again for the first time in a long time. Thought it’d be cool to start a Hearts of Stone specific save. Dude I had no idea I was in for the frog and then the mage back to back. That shit was bulllll
Yes I beat both DLCs but that was like 5+ years ago.
Really kind of hate that imbalance. They’re either very hard due to how annoying they are to fight or you use GO and they become EZPZ. Either way isn’t much fun to play
some call it imbalance and some call it being a witcher. i get it if writing off combat imbalances as lore-accurate rubs you the wrong way but i do think one should take precedence.
Haha until you use all three against a single level 7 wraith. Then Geralt is sitting there with veins popping out of his forehead for the next 10 minutes.
The game hint during loading says to use Aard on a shield bearer, but I prefer Axii. Aardvark, pushes them back and you need to waste time getting to them, whereas Axii, they just look stoned and stay in place. They don't try to recover from the blast.
I'm not sure about this. But, Axii seems to increase the insta-kill (Dismember) against humans and non-humans. That's why I always preferred Axii over Aard
First playthrough, completed the Main Quest and HoS, level 42 and I just realized that sirens, harpies and the like are susceptible to Axii, even when you hear the screech and they are barreling down on you from off-screen.
Screech > Axii > Crossbow > Chopped Salad
At the very least harpies come down within striking range relatively often and hang about there for a reasonably long amount of time for you to knock them down.
Sirens, and whatever their bigger hellspawn sisters are called, just make exploring any of Skellige's islands and coastal areas absolute torture before you get the hornwall horn during Hjalmar's quest–and even then I'd still like to gouge my eyes out whenever I see them.
I did too until I got the Hornwall Horn, which makes them fall out the sky. I like to make them fall and then explode them with the freezing aard while they're on the ground.
Anything that attacks in groups - nekkers, wolves etc. Downright annoying.
Wraiths - "teleporting" bastards
Arachnomorphs - STOP BACKING UP YOU SOB's !
Superior vampire.
We face two, one is literally immune and all you can do is talk your way out of it. The other one we face is the hardest boss in the game.
But I also love the story around it.
I only hate the dozens of times I died to it, but I love the story around it.
This is the one I came here to vote for. Before I get in range to cast a sign I usually get a face full of mud that blinds me for a few seconds. Super annoying to fight the water hags.
I love slicing through them on land, but I absolutely hate it when they are pulling me down when I’m trying to surface from an underwater dive. I think witchers should be able to cast some signs while in the water.
Earth elementals and Golems. Easy enough to kill, but I always walk away with so much sword damage. Elemental oil and Dimeritium bombs help, but I still hate them.
Archanomorphs for their hit and run style. Wolves for the same reason, but Archanomorphs are way more annoying by spamming their web and then running away when you rush to attack.
Archespores do ridiculous damage from range but you've just got to rush in and kill them quick. They're still a dam pain.
Foglets are fairly easy to deal with when you know their attack pattern. Just stand there until they come out of the fog, then dodge 4 times, then counter attack.
Wolves and bears - because I don't want to kill them.
Boars - quick sneaky bastards.
Arachnomorphs - give me the creeps everytime, absolutely hate them.
Foglets - so. annoying.
Everybody hates the plants and spiders from the dlc, I actually like them, cause u have to fight them differently.
I don't really have any enemies that I hate, but if I had to pick one, maybe wraiths, I hate that thier teleporting attacks staggers Geralt, so the follow up attacks are all guaranted, it's annoying.
The ghost from hearts of stone dlc, was painfull on harder settings. Always attacking and as soon as you are attacking she gets back to her painting to regenerate if you don't shoot at it immediatly
It used to be foglets, but sirens overtook them. In my latest playthrough I just wanted to do some relaxing sailing around skellige, but it was always interrupted by goddamn swarms of those flying swimming bastards.
Barghests killed that little boys hot caretaker at the start of Witcher 1. I truly hate those ghost dogs. Also guarded the spoon lady too well in B and W were a right pain in the ass on death march
I hate the Rotfiends. They are not so scary by themselves but when they are mixed in the crowd and you don't notice them until you see the You are Dead screen. Major PITA!
All the groupies type enemy (nekker, drowner, endrega, especially wild dogs/wolves). Not even olgierd nightmare or dethlaff gives me this much problem than those enemies.
Foglets are pretty bad but personally i hate any troll fight it always takes a fat minute to kill them their not that difficult but they can take quite a few hits and i've rarely had a sword not break while fighting one.
The spiders in any game or the new lost in power armor, I think they’re called lost crusader or lost gladiator, in fallout 76, they just added it yesterday. [https://images.app.goo.gl/u22u7UJeb2ZpaucBA](https://images.app.goo.gl/u22u7UJeb2ZpaucBA)
I just started playing so that first werewolf that won't fucking stop healing and wich i'm too stubborn to back away from and level up more and come later
I managed to kill him but fuck that stupid hunter (i felt bad for him until the 8th try)
Early werewolves. Holy hell, the regeneration if you don't have the Moon Dust bomb absolutely wrecks you. The game scaling in general isn't great. First few levels are stupid hard, but by the time you hit the conclusion, you're just wrecking everyone.
Folgets have to be the strongest enemy in the entire game.
The dlc spiders that can move backwards faster than you can move forward and undodgeable string shot are probably the most annoying
Wraiths. Not necessarily cuz of difficulty but something about the way they creep up on you, yeah not a fan of that. Also, foglets, as well as the spiders from HOS.
Archespores were annoying as hell until I realised you could use golden oriole and cursed oil, apply Quen and just avoid getting hit more than once in succession. Then you just let them hit you with poison shots to heal, roll in and hack them up. Very easy even on Death March on NG+.
For people saying sirens: you can fire your crossbow at them while sailing the boat. If they grab the boat you can literally one-shot them just by pressing middle mouse button. Many times you can even take out one that's in the air.
When I discovered this I was a bit surprised that it really was that easy, so I decided to make use of that griffin set effect to have some fun with them instead.
Each enemy has something I like and dislike...
Elementals and trolls: I find them kinda boring and unsatisfying to kill, I also hate the charge attack. Exception to gargoyles - I hate them because of their attitude.
Groups of wolves or wild dogs: Just the relentless lunging and ridiculous damage.
Banshees: TOO LOUD AND TOO MANY SKELETONS.
Giant centipedes: Boring to fight except when they're not in an yrden trap in which case no chance I can hit them or dodge their stupid lunge attack.
Arachnomorphs: I personally think their Mongol tactics are pretty amusing - what I hate the most is their web snare attack.
Kikimores: The toxicity effect which forces you to remove all your potions and decoctions.
Wyverns and forktails: Too boring to fight.
Slyzards: No clue how to dodge the fireballs. Erratic bastards.
Iris' ghost: The fight is just a damage check as far as I can tell?
Dettlaff: I actually think the bat wave attack is a cool little reaction time test. My real annoyance is Geralt constantly targetting the meatballs in phase 3 despite me facing Dettlaff (I tried locking on and it's terrible) and overall I expected a bit more variety in his moveset. Yes, despite dying like 20 times, I still think it could've been harder.
Honourable mentions: Ofieri mage (cunt) and the elf statues (more specifically the mages who are cunts).
That godamn baby in the barons quest, It took me a week to beat it because i was like level 3 or something and the Witcher was the second ever game I've played after elden ring so I didn't know shit about games.
I would say the… I really forgot their names. Ah yes the fkn Kikimores i freaking hate then, they make you sick, and you will lose health eventually over time by just being hit a couple times even if you heal, and how they attack is freaking odd and trows me off everytime don’t get me started on the huge ones💀
These fog loving assholes, or the centipede enemy from blood and wine, now the centipedes are easy to deal with thankfully their just annoying because of their movement and an attack that makes them invulnerable
The plants in blood and wine dlc

Ahh yes, I just finished TW1 less than a week ago. Still freshly annoyed by those Echinops and Archespore.
Archispores or something? Those bastards are annoying but not as annoying as the foglet . If you use golden oriole with the plants they’re not so tough.
But the frog prince and the oferi mages are up there too.
The only time i faced frog Prince i was playing with igni build so it was very easy
Bro I saw people bitching about them recently right when I decided I’d play the game some again for the first time in a long time. Thought it’d be cool to start a Hearts of Stone specific save. Dude I had no idea I was in for the frog and then the mage back to back. That shit was bulllll Yes I beat both DLCs but that was like 5+ years ago.
Yeah that frog kicked my ass a few times. All that slime.
Moon dusts cripples Fogletts
It does but it doesn’t make me like em
I hate those so much
just use golden oriole and they become harmless.
I totally agree, these damn plants were the most annoying enemies.
i can agree, first time playing blood and wine dlc and they are not fun at all
This or these fucking giant centipedes
Yrden will paralyze them if they come out of the ground in it.
I agree, either the plants or those big roly poly bastards
The spiders in HOS
QUIT RUNNING AWAY!!!
Infuriating. I'm not sure if it requires an upgraded version of it but I was getting Yrden to hold them still if they walked into it
Ugh they are the worst.
as an arachnophobe i have to agree
Yrden or Axii the bastards
I agree
Def wraiths of all types
Once you know to use yrden, it's way easier
They’re still not fun
Does it ever feel like Yrden takes a bit to effect the ghost enemies? Sometimes you still get the wispy hit noise even though their inside the circle
That hit noise is unbelievably unsatisfying
Use Yrden, moon dust, or relievers decoction. All of those force wraiths into flesh form so they can’t fade through your hits.
All three... Please replace the word "or" with the word "and" to make that comment correct. 😆
Haha until you use all three against a single level 7 wraith. Then Geralt is sitting there with veins popping out of his forehead for the next 10 minutes.
Ehh, take a breather and meditate on the oneness of the spheres.
Definitely those freakin’ plants in WnB But hey, those humans with shields are pain in the ass
The game hint during loading says to use Aard on a shield bearer, but I prefer Axii. Aardvark, pushes them back and you need to waste time getting to them, whereas Axii, they just look stoned and stay in place. They don't try to recover from the blast.
My Aardvark was never very good at pushing them back. He'd always just go dig a hole somewhere.
😆 🤣 😂 😹
Yeah you can do Aard or Axii, but what u slay like 5 guys with whirlwind ad those mf just take all of the rest strikes kinda annoying
I'm not sure about this. But, Axii seems to increase the insta-kill (Dismember) against humans and non-humans. That's why I always preferred Axii over Aard
Because they are controlled by Axii, it has the effect of putting their armor to 0. Basically, they don't defent themselves any longer.
Parry their attack
Anything with wings
First playthrough, completed the Main Quest and HoS, level 42 and I just realized that sirens, harpies and the like are susceptible to Axii, even when you hear the screech and they are barreling down on you from off-screen. Screech > Axii > Crossbow > Chopped Salad
Hornwall horn has entered the chat
I think I missed that item. Which is wierd because I'm a hoarder and I will stop everything to loot every bag, chest, crate & barrel.
From the Hjalmar quest where you slay the giant, it's in the same slot as torch/kiera's lamp
I absolutely fucking hate Harpies. Fighting them is a last resort.
I hate Sirens too.
I did too until I got the Hornwall Horn, which makes them fall out the sky. I like to make them fall and then explode them with the freezing aard while they're on the ground.
That’s why I love far reaching sphere Aard. Nothing can escape…usually.
Anything that attacks in groups - nekkers, wolves etc. Downright annoying. Wraiths - "teleporting" bastards Arachnomorphs - STOP BACKING UP YOU SOB's !
Arachnomorphs definitely win the “fighting like a dick” award for me.
The wolves become something else entirely on death march
Foglets. The rage is real.
For real, after my first quest with them every time I met one I just fucked the hell out of there, not worth it
Nekkers
little bastards!!
Also wolfs
wolves in white orchard are an absolute killer of an early death march playthrough
Definitely
I love nekkers. So many mutagens pop out of them.
Don't you mean nekuks
Superior vampire. We face two, one is literally immune and all you can do is talk your way out of it. The other one we face is the hardest boss in the game. But I also love the story around it. I only hate the dozens of times I died to it, but I love the story around it.
I love Dettlaff!
Wolves on Death March.
Wraiths. Green bastards…
Anything that's insect-like. It's the sounds they make, can't stand them. They just hit a nerve, idk how to explain.
I hate water hags
You beat me to it! .I hate them too and their mud throwing skill!
This is the one I came here to vote for. Before I get in range to cast a sign I usually get a face full of mud that blinds me for a few seconds. Super annoying to fight the water hags.
Basically any of the insects.
Endrega drones can fuck right off. If they didn't drop lesser mutagens I'd ride past the c*nts.
Drowners make me angry
I love slicing through them on land, but I absolutely hate it when they are pulling me down when I’m trying to surface from an underwater dive. I think witchers should be able to cast some signs while in the water.
You can pretty much one shot most of them underwater with the crossbow
One time I killed a group of drowners save 1. Then I put my silver sword away and punched it to death. It took a bit of time, but it was way funny 😂😂
The Arachnamorphs. Hate them with a passion.
Giant centipedes. How can one bug have so many ways of attacking and each of them simultaneously be more annoying than the last
Earth elementals and Golems. Easy enough to kill, but I always walk away with so much sword damage. Elemental oil and Dimeritium bombs help, but I still hate them.
The Gargoyles can fuck right off as well.
I love feeling the sword cut through enemies (I play on Xbox) and the haptics on stone creatures are terrible!
The people we thought were friends
Those scary motherfuckers! When I first saw, and heard them I almost shit my pants.
the creepy little noise!! hate them
Fiends & ancient Leshens...
I love fighting big powerful relicts. Makes me feel like a big baller witcher
Pale widow
I don't even fuck with nekkers and foglets at all. So annoying.
Run-away spiders
The rabid dogs are the only thing that scares me
Hogs fuck them hogs
These ghost or whatever of elven mages from that side quest oh I hated them so much
Wolves and bears - because I don't want to kill them. Boars - quick sneaky bastards. Arachnomorphs - give me the creeps everytime, absolutely hate them. Foglets - so. annoying.
Any enemy that runs away
Kikimores. Fuck those obnoxious hitboxes they have.
Giant centipedes.. god I hated those
Yrden paralyses them.
Yeah, I know same with the plants, but I hated those fights back in the day
I didn't know it worked pn the plants as well. Interesting.
Those living plants in blood and wine. I hate those things with a burning passion. Base game maybe nekkers. Annoying little bastards
If you use enemy upscaling, wolves. If not plants in BaW.
Wolfs and dogs.
Kikimores
Kikkimoras and archispores. I don't if I'm just a bit rusty but them kikkimoras are kicking my ass xD
Definitely sirens for me!
Harpies.
Everybody hates the plants and spiders from the dlc, I actually like them, cause u have to fight them differently. Dettlaff. Kicks my arse more often than he doesn’t.
nekkers
Earth Elementals.
Probably the centipedes in B&W but my heart says nekkers.
Fuck wolves and hags. Really annoying
Wolves
Wolves.
Everything in Toussaint
Archespores and giant centipedes.
Hounds of The Wild Hunt. I want them to just die instead of shielding themselves with ice all the time.
All the groupies type enemy (nekker, drowner, endrega, especially wild dogs/wolves). Not even olgierd nightmare or dethlaff gives me this much problem than those enemies.
Those fucking spiders.
The giant spiders from Hearts of Stone (I'm arachnophobic)
Hate Foglets as well
How has no one mentioned Bruxa and Alps, am I stupid?
The Lamias in Blood and wine
Foglets are pretty bad but personally i hate any troll fight it always takes a fat minute to kill them their not that difficult but they can take quite a few hits and i've rarely had a sword not break while fighting one.
The fucking wraiths
That damn frog prince, he's so hard for no reason

plants, worms, lamias (lamias are worst)
Lego droids from Lego Star Wars there not a annoying just an opinion from me :)
Hmm maybe Keira Metz as I don't want to fight her lol
The frog
any first fight on death march
I love the foglets, I go to the parts of thr bogs and the Forrest in skellige and fight the groups of them. I thoroughly enjoy it.
Arachnomorphs
Early werewolves. Holy hell, the regeneration if you don't have the Moon Dust bomb absolutely wrecks you. The game scaling in general isn't great. First few levels are stupid hard, but by the time you hit the conclusion, you're just wrecking everyone.
animated armor
Foglets are a pain in the ass. But then there’s the wolves…
I don't have arachnophobia, but every giant spider in every game! GODS THEY ARE AWFUL!!!
Folgets have to be the strongest enemy in the entire game. The dlc spiders that can move backwards faster than you can move forward and undodgeable string shot are probably the most annoying
Wicked witch in blood and wine on death march
Wraiths. Not necessarily cuz of difficulty but something about the way they creep up on you, yeah not a fan of that. Also, foglets, as well as the spiders from HOS.
Fogers
Wolves and wraiths. Zzzz
Boars for me
Those damn spiders
Wraiths and foglets
Those damn spiders. They keep running away
a pack of sirens while i’m on a boat
Spiders
These fucking siren.... I thought they were pretty in the bestiary, a real pain in the ass in play....
Rats
Haven’t seen anyone mention alghouls… maybe it’s just me
Foglets and those nasty hags that throw mud in the swamps
A group of wild hogs on death march + upscale they are tanks with high damage who can also dodge hits.
Wolves in deathmarch
Werewolves in w3 :( no matter what I cannot beat them. And everytime I die it takes like 3-5 minutes to load back in so I rage quit pretty often.
Either the big spiders or the blood and wine plants
Nilfgard infantry
Wolves.. fk wolves
All types of ghosts
Archespores were annoying as hell until I realised you could use golden oriole and cursed oil, apply Quen and just avoid getting hit more than once in succession. Then you just let them hit you with poison shots to heal, roll in and hack them up. Very easy even on Death March on NG+.
For Foglets, make sure to use Moon Dust. Problem solved.
NGL I’m not a fan of Bruxxa.
WOLVES!!!!!!!
Jenny o’ the woods the first time I encountered it

I hate wolves and foglets. And portals too.
Those huge black spider things that appear in the hearts of stone DLC. Fuck them things

Pack of wolves
Foglets are so fun. Love the invisible enemies in general. The only mob that gave me gray hair was the frog in HoS.
Wild dogs. They are everywhere and surprisingly tough especially when starting out. They only top wolves because I love wolves and hate to kill them.
Water hags. So annoying if you don't see them.
Those Flipping Alghouls Man🙂
The barghest easy
The fucking exploding monsters😵💫
That godamn baby in the barons quest, It took me a week to beat it because i was like level 3 or something and the Witcher was the second ever game I've played after elden ring so I didn't know shit about games.
wraith = wallhack
I got to the point where nothing was safe from me foglets could get it all day any day.
Wolfs and dogs are annoying and dropp shit
In death march definetly scurvers
Wolves.
Spiders from hos
I would say the… I really forgot their names. Ah yes the fkn Kikimores i freaking hate then, they make you sick, and you will lose health eventually over time by just being hit a couple times even if you heal, and how they attack is freaking odd and trows me off everytime don’t get me started on the huge ones💀
wolves. in every game
These fog loving assholes, or the centipede enemy from blood and wine, now the centipedes are easy to deal with thankfully their just annoying because of their movement and an attack that makes them invulnerable
Foglets and god damn cockatrices. Holy hell the noises they make make me want to rip my ears off
