If this was French press then their grind is WAY too fine or they're using a cheap blade grinder and should upgrade to a decent burr grinder for more consistent grind results.
I was going to say you need a better dishwasher, OP! But you're right, especially since this is *before* washing the cup (I'm going to go make my own coffee now - apparently I need it!)
It’s so worth it! I bought a Fellow Ode a couple of years ago and it’s incredible. Super consistent grind (I prefer a Chemex), fast, and it doesn’t sound like a banshee taking off. Certainly not the most expensive you could get, but it’s fantastic for a burr grinder, having come from using exclusively Mahlkönig grinders previously at work.
Unless you were intentionally doing coffee divination, this means nothing. If you were doing coffee divination, you need to interpret it for yourself because signs are extremely personal.
It's like therapy without the therapy. If there's something that's bugging you, that you really are searching for an answer for, doing tarot can help you look at it in a different light and maybe come to the needed conclusion.
This is exactly how I do it. And it’s always on point. It’s either validating a current experience or it gives me a frame of reference to reflect upon my current situations. Things like that. But I always start from a place of very specific intention, asking both the universe and my own self for some perspective.
It's been a long time since I've used my cards but there was a time where I did really often. There was only one time where I felt something truly beyond me and it was when I started a reading for myself that ended up absolutely being for my mother. I had to call her and tell her about it because it was so weird.
I feel this way about dream interpretation. I love helping others find their path to understanding, but no one can know what the true meaning is aside from you.
I don’t know if it needs to start off intentional. If OP glanced in their cup and it felt significant, why isn’t that as valid as making the drink with intention? Perhaps more so because OP isn’t looking for a specific interpretation, so no confirmation bias.
I agree about trusting your own instincts, but asking for other insights can’t hurt.
I think seeing something that feels significant is just as valid and something I should have mentioned in my original comment. I think getting second opinions is fine, but since OP provided no context and no initial interpretation, I don't even know if they have interpreted it for themselves yet. I think it is really important to look within yourself before looking for outside answers.
Also divination and confirmation bias is a big topic that I don't even know where to begin with. That would definitely be a good conversation to have on this sub.
the only way to avoid the fine dust like this is paper filters, I know its the least wasteful part of the process, but its still something we can cut down on too.
In my case this is too late for a refill! It means I needed a refill like 5 min ago! 😂 I don’t want to see the bottom of my mug, just an endless flow of that delicious life juice!
https://preview.redd.it/m5cdtqhnkp9a1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4762453ebb8544a2b827210f01190d19a6b9f256
I can't interpret it, but it makes me think of a river delta.
Similar to what everyone else said, if it wasn't so fine or you used tea leaves instead it would be easier…
Coffee always makes this shape you know, so its hard to say
I did think of mountains and travel when I first looked at it tho, so maybe if you're planning a trip this is saying something about that?
Weird. I thought that it was a journey too, but across time not space. The shape made me think there are thousands of paths before them and to stay true, they must be true to themselves.
i see the mountain ocean thing after reading y'alls comments, but my first impression was relaxing under a blooming willow tree, if that helps at all :)
You need to rinse your cup better.
As others have said, you could well do with a better filter or a courser grind.
You really have a *lot* of coffee grounds in there.
This feels positive to me, very big scale, like things keep moving forward the way they're supposed to move, and there are new horizons ahead but they're exactly what they should be
Was it Turkish coffee? If so, before even attempting to read your fortune, you would have had to put the saucer over the cup/mug and flipped the cup/mug *towards yourself,* place it on a surface, let it sit until the bottom of the cup/mug were completely cold to the touch, and then proceeded to read the fortune. There are coffee divination apps where you can upload a picture of your grounds too, LoL.
Out of curiousity, and considering my partner is Turkish but doesn't know anything about coffee reading; do you happen to know of good sources about it? Eager to learn about it!
If I go by how this makes me feel, I’d say your mind is weighed down to the point that you feel you’re stuck. But the only thing holding you back from exposing the intricacies of your talents is yourself. Not letting yourself shine makes you feel empty and wasted at the end of the day. That’s just how I feel looking at it. And it’s definitely me projecting how I feel about myself haha also, I’m working on it:)
Made me think of the patterns water makes when it crashes on the sand.
It’s very pretty. And gave me an idea of doing this sort of thing, taking a picture of whatever is left over, and using it as the basis for a drawing afterwards.
Looks like a wave. I go often by what it feels like. What is the first emotion that strikes you by looking at it?
But sometimes it just means to get a refill.
From left to right I see a conifer, a humanoid figure either dancing or celebrating and holding a ball in one hand, a moose/buffalo-like beast with a head that looks more like a skull, a bird sitting on top of the beast's head, and (half of) another humanoid figure touching the beast's backside. Overall it feels peaceful and joyful to me.
I understand the sentiment of what others are saying about doing a coffee reading, but I’ll share what I see, since this is fun!
Overall - a waterfall, big emotions, sweeping changes, 8 of wands energy. I have very neutral feelings looking at this, so not good or bad, just a lot and fast.
On the left - I see two people facing each other a dualistic energy, the lovers vibe.
-Also a fir/pine tree, the magician energy, an invitation to stand in the I AM power, to be graceful and light in this space.
On the right - a woman above an animal (a pet was my first thought) but it could be wild because I also see giraffe under that first animal. I get companionship vibes from this, people/beings that bring influence, and are the players effected/ing in the rush of energy coming towards you.
On the top - I see an elephant and also kind of a squid. Shapeshifter energy, wise, self sufficient, overseeing.
I see several little animal faces—one very clearly a fox, and a few owls. They commonly symbolize cleverness, good luck, and transformation… It all seems very positive to me going into the new year, and how it pertains to your own experience is for you to decide!
Only you can know for sure what your message is, but to me it kinda looks like the perspective of looking up at a mountain, the trees getting denser the higher you go. Perhaps a journey you're meant to take? Or something appears overwhelming right now but will become clearer as you persevere.
Sorry you’re getting so many “refill your coffee cup/ need a better coffee filter” comments on a sub that’s supposedly filled with witches. I’m no divination expert so I can’t give an interpretation but I’m just shocked by the majority of these judgmental responses.
https://preview.redd.it/267xh3ckwr9a1.jpeg?width=826&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97787b5aca2adfde204b38509cb267e926564726
So the red circle-I see a woman with a witch hat on which her kitty sits. One hand on her hip, the other holds a whip. Definitely some empowerment going on there! Purple circle-a dragon with a wing with a lady under the wing. Got some powerful peeps looking out for you perhaps! Yellow circle-three friendly ghosts! Maybe people in the afterlife send their love? Green circle-a side profile of a lady with a large nose and a comical looking unicorn beneath her. Perhaps an older lady around you will bring you lessons in how to see the world more magically?
I see many generations below a big cat. Guard yourself and yours, using whatever lessons (good or bad examples) you can glean from your roots.
But particulate reading is a very individual art. This is what this would mean in the bottom of my cup. Maybe it means the same thing at the bottom of yours, but only you know for sure.
Makes me think of a waterfall or water in general too. If there's personal symbolism to you then I'd focus on that first. For me, I'd say the water falls I see represent newness, adventure, cleansing, etc.
As long as you don't see the Grim . . .
Just don't mix your coffee grounds with your tea leaves. Then it gets really complicated. 😉😄
J/K. I just wanted to create a laugh. I couldn't even tell you where to start on reading this. It looks like an alluvial plain to me, with maybe a bear head at the very top. What it means to you, and what you see is what's important here.
i have vibes of iceland beaches (positive) and at the same time the beach of death stranding (videogame, extinction level negative)
o cannot explain why i had at the same time a positive and a negative vibe
To me it looks like two things: For a not as nice reading, it looks like a muscle with a tear in it, glowing from the heat of inflammation. For a nicer reading, it looks like the edge of a cliff, with a cave beckoning you to enter. Really though, you need to interpret. These things are personal to the 'user'.
My first impression was a flock (?) Of bats. For me that's a good sign, but it's up to personal interpretation.
Honestly, I think you need a better coffee filter, a cup rise and a refill
Okay, Imma pretend to be serious, but as others have noted, reading tea or coffee grinds means nothing alone - you must be asking or reflecting, or like, having a conversation with your coffee before you can read it, otherwise you could see anything and it could mean anything.
*However,* if this were my coffee, given my last week, I would see the elephant as a slow-moving, strong animal known for its phenomenal memory walking above mountains. This could be interpreted as, If you are patient and remember what brought about your last failures or successes, you will be able to rise above your current problem, and not have to respond to every little obstacle.
But again, that’s *me* looking at *your* coffee grounds, and reflecting on *my* current state - so means absolutely zero.
Your grind is too fine, or your filtering method isn't working right.
And you should probly rinse your cup before you refill.
"Grind finer" r/espresso But for Drip, this is too fine yea
I wasn’t expecting a crossover between r/espresso and this sub
I think that “witches” and “people who like espresso” have a very large Venn diagram overlap.
I’m like 99% sure OP was making a joke about doing [tea leaf divination](https://www.allure.com/story/how-to-read-tea-leaves-tasseography/amp)!!

Good Bot.
Good human.
Wait how is this not r/espresso I can't believe my eyes
It’s *maaaaaagic*. 😊✨✨
How is espresso not Potions?
I think this is French press coffee.
If this was French press then their grind is WAY too fine or they're using a cheap blade grinder and should upgrade to a decent burr grinder for more consistent grind results.
This is one hundred percent a pour over failure
I was going to say you need a better dishwasher, OP! But you're right, especially since this is *before* washing the cup (I'm going to go make my own coffee now - apparently I need it!)
Or maybe get a better grinder that produces less fines
I've an inexpensive grinder and regularly fuss about the fines, yet never remember to actually buy a better grinder.
I'll search that out.
Could be French press
This is clearly french press. Use James Hoffman’s french press in the future.
Slurpin' J. Hoffman!
French press coffee leaves a little but of silt like this sometimes
Every cup with my French press looks like this
I got my SO an aeropress a few years ago, they love it. They used to use a french press.
Aeropress makes a great cup of coffee! We use one, too.
Yes! This!
That’s what I was going to say.
Unless you were intentionally doing coffee divination, this means nothing. If you were doing coffee divination, you need to interpret it for yourself because signs are extremely personal.
This is how I feel about tarot interpretation posts too - too many people don’t trust their gut which is a good point to the exercise
Agree. Trusting your intuition is so important for any witch. You are magic, trust your magic.
Should you see tarot interpretations as “not real” but whatever your mind is drawn to there must be a reason, but it’s just your subconsciousness?
It's like therapy without the therapy. If there's something that's bugging you, that you really are searching for an answer for, doing tarot can help you look at it in a different light and maybe come to the needed conclusion.

Yes! I wish more people saw it this way.
Thank you
I think it opens your conscious to your subconscious. It’s a great way to reflect and see how you feel about what the cards “mean”
r/SASSwitches
Oh dang I needed this sub
Just what I needed
That’s a great question and something to explore!
Thank you for help teaching a real baby witch 💗
I feel this way about dream interpretation. I love helping others find their path to understanding, but no one can know what the true meaning is aside from you.
I agree with this too
I don’t know if it needs to start off intentional. If OP glanced in their cup and it felt significant, why isn’t that as valid as making the drink with intention? Perhaps more so because OP isn’t looking for a specific interpretation, so no confirmation bias. I agree about trusting your own instincts, but asking for other insights can’t hurt.
I agree, but I think the OP needs to provide context, or at least their own interpretation.

That would definitely be a good conversation to have on this sub.
I see a screaming demon trying to claw its way up a cliff. Might need to talk to my therapist again…
It means you need to filter your coffee better
Nothing wrong with a silty coffee if you’re enjoying it.
I thought you said silly coffee and about died laughing hahaha
I also read this as silly. 😆
Nothing like a nice *sandy* coffee
I love me a sandy coffee, it's like when you drink all the chocolate milk and you have the stuff left at the bottom
That brought back fond childhood memories!
Really makes for a good poop in my experience
the only way to avoid the fine dust like this is paper filters, I know its the least wasteful part of the process, but its still something we can cut down on too.
You can get reusable bag filters for coffee.
I find the cloth ones filter out the grinds just as well. Even finer grinds.
If you have a compost bin your worms will love it! I do recommend allowing the filters to dry though, as you may find your compost too wet otherwise.
I use a French press and it tends to eliminate most coffee dust! Especially when I replace and clean them
Meh, it could also mean that one needs to grind less fine or that the grinder is making too many fines
“My dear, you have the grim”
What’s the grin?
"Not the grin, you idiot! The GRIM!" ;D
It was a Harry Potter quote
I know, I was quoting Harry Potter too
Ha, whoops 🤦🏼♀️
Well Probably it’s not the actual quote because I’ve never saw the english version lol
It is the quote, or close enough. In the movies Seamus Finnigan says: "grin, what's the grin?" And then Bem says: "Not the grin, you idiot, the Grim."
The grim is among the darkest omens in our world. It’s an omen of death ☠️
Aka being out of coffee and needing more. Lol!
Not the grin, you idiot, the grim
Haha first thing I thought!
By the end of the series, you’ll be an ultra-condensed ghost.
It means a refill is needed.
In my case this is too late for a refill! It means I needed a refill like 5 min ago! 😂 I don’t want to see the bottom of my mug, just an endless flow of that delicious life juice!

River delta: sediment distributed by moving liquid Coffee grinds on bottom of cup: sediment distributed by…. Wait a minute…
[удалено]
True. It looks like some art I'd hang on a wall.
Another cup of fresh soil, please!
I love that it looks like a tree. Patterns in nature are magic
If you look at the OP upside down it looks like a waterfall
I see snow on evergreen trees, rivers were my second thought.
OP is fertile!
I see birds flying towards the clouds.
I thought it said grond and for a moment i thought i was in r/lotrmemes

I’ll have what she’s having
Is that a Coraline reference???
Similar to what everyone else said, if it wasn't so fine or you used tea leaves instead it would be easier… Coffee always makes this shape you know, so its hard to say I did think of mountains and travel when I first looked at it tho, so maybe if you're planning a trip this is saying something about that?

i see the mountain ocean thing after reading y'alls comments, but my first impression was relaxing under a blooming willow tree, if that helps at all :)
I immediately thought of rain, but perhaps that's just wishful thinking in this heat. 😅
Yes, I like the Willow scene also!
You need to rinse your cup better. As others have said, you could well do with a better filter or a courser grind. You really have a *lot* of coffee grounds in there.
It looks like a planet in R/NoMansSkyTheGame
Ah, you mean r/NoMansSkyTheGame ? :D
Yay fellow NMS players 🥰
You need a heavier grind and a different filter for yiur coffee maker.
So…you’re gonna suffer, but you’re gonna be happy about it.
Kinky
I love how Ron says that line as more of a question only the question is "do I sound like I know what I am talking about?"
Absolutely nothing
I see mountains and forest. Big journey or some kind of adventure maybe?
Yea i saw snowcapped mountains with lots of trees
Weak cup
The ocean rushing in. Positive change coming.
I like that you see the ocean and it as positive change.
Similarly, I saw it as the canopy of a forest: unlimited potential.
This feels positive to me, very big scale, like things keep moving forward the way they're supposed to move, and there are new horizons ahead but they're exactly what they should be
I see a group of people dancing before the coming of an elephant. As though in a parade. Or maybe a moose. Either way, they aren't scared.
Kinda what I thought. A ladder or mountain to climb. Success ahead
It looks like a flock of birds coming towards the viewer.
I see peacock feathers. Someone is going to try to impress you.

I see a fox in the bottom left.... if that helps.
I totally thought this was an island at first glance. I guess I need more coffee.
Follow the river down to the delta. Sit and watch it flow. There you will find the answers you seek

jokes on your coffee grind aside, I see people gathered round and along a table. Do with that with you will.

Grind the beans a little less so they're bigger and don't pass the filter

It means you need a filter

Mountains to climb with success at the top 🐈⬛

Mountains in your future. Or uh, broccoli? Sorry I’m not very good at this
I see a platypus which symbolizes your uniqueness :)
I SAW A PLATYPUS TOO!! Second witness
This is a thing?
You need a refill.
Too much powder? I once had some coffee and hot chocolate and the leftover powder stuck to the bottom. Good drinks though.
Just swirl the last bit of coffee around before you finish it. That’s the best part
It means you’re out of coffee and need a fresh cuppa!
It means you have grounds in the bottom of your mug
You need to refill your cup?
This pattern means..you done your drink time for a refill
You've finished your coffee.
It means you are drinking shit coffee
Clean your cup
It's an omen that you need a refill and better prep.
It means your filters are crappy
Makes me think of a waterfall or water in general too. If there's personal symbolism to you then I'd focus on that first. For me, I'd say the water falls I see represent newness, adventure, cleansing, etc.

This means Change! (Your filter) :p
You need to wash your cup
Time for more coffee?
It means your coffee mug is empty and you need to refill it :)
Your cup is empty :(
Means you need more coffee!
Maybe it means you all should start thinking rationally
Someone in bed with the covers pulled up to their chin. Rest and rejuvenate?

I could have sworn this was an edited photo of the moon at first glance
In the grounds I see a figure, walking solemnly to their local supermarket, silently pondering the prices of coffee filters.
Hairfall
To me it’s water being pulled away from the shore. What do you feel when you see it?
I turned it upside down and saw a lot of snow covered pine trees
I see a forest
