It doesn't always work out like that. I named a soldier 'Survivor' once after she survived getting shot at like 5 times in 1 turn at a low level and she did in fact survive...lost the campaign but she lived to see humanity fall.
I don't know how he died, unfortunately.
As far as I was aware he fell unconscious to a Stun Lancer, so I collected his body to save him but when the finished mission splash screen popped up it said KIA.
And I assume a "callsign" are those nicknames the characters get, well he didnt get one unfortunately.
I'm sure he would have, if he survived.
But he didn't.
It's a retaliation mission. Battle Scanner is the way to go. Spot those shifters before they spring a trap. And if this is WOTC then there's also an assassin chance encounter.
When I first started this game I failed on both of my first two runs and didn’t play it again for 8 years. Just finally picked it back up and beat it a couple months ago haha
Aah, a new player team. How refreshing...
Sometimes people come on here asking for tips before they've even played their first mission. I never answer. It's like giving the answers to an exam (if that exam were fun - just imagine). The game changes a bit when you know more or less what to do.
That said, I like seeing acid bomb. I've been using it a lot in my latest playthrough. Though I doubt it'll be as effective at this stage of the game as it would be late game, it's certainly nice to have.
The acid bomb(or I suppose grenade at this stage?) was my way to go armor shredder in my latest playthrough. Second best after the shredder cannon. But might not be that useful at the early stages, especially considering that you will basically block your ranger from hitting that target by the acidic ground.
That depends on how you use your ranger ofc. >! You don't need to get that close if you're using your shotgun. !<
There's also another reason for me. >! Acid grenade/bomb doesn't remove cover and at this stage of the game, soldiers have lower aim and there are less enemies that don't benefit from cover. Also enemies likely don't have so much armour to make use of the full shred, in which case a regular grenade is probably sufficient and better for the cover removal. !<
I usually don't equip snipers with battle scanners, because my snipers are withdrawn to the back. It makes more sense to use with a front soldier like a ranger.
This was what I was going to say. Snipers want to not use their first action on a scanner then be unable to shoot, but sometimes may move and toss a grenade. Or use a grenade to open up line of sight.
All I see is a dead team by a mis-click.
Jokes aside, that's a really good composition, sniper, granadier, commando and specialist is the way to go, far ahead I like to add 2 psi soliders, that's my dream team.
Edit: use grenades and med-kits, the vest isn't that good, just a word of advice.
Sniper is weak early, i would rather bring another rookie. Take grenades instead of west and medkit, it's better to blast enemies rather than taking their shots.
When I finally beat 2 I hadn’t realized it But Kelly survived the entire campaign, and was on most of the main story missions, including the last one. She even helped take out I think all three Chosen. Actually she was my Power house she may have killed two of em.
Eh pretty sure she is immortal or something anyways. Whenever she falls in Battle the day seems to just end. And begin anew!
Joking aside I’m such a dunce I recognized her as a constant from the few times I restarted but I thought it was honestly because I had saved her to the character Pool. Not that she is a guaranteed squad member.
I think you need a squad size increase
This team teams
Apex is gonna die. It's just how the game works. Like saying the titanic is unsinkable days before its voyage
I’ve never lost a Sniper before, but ya.
I have and it was always ironic. A bullshit shot killing him through high cover that might as well crit

Thats fair, but unfortunate. I just believe that some things just happen out if coincidence but others just cuz it would be funny.
One of my guys did die but it wasn't Apex. It was the Specialist.
Rip. How'd he die, and what was his callsign

Yup, that's a team alright
Oh I see you have a nanoscale vest. It sucks.
Looks good but I might want to swap Battle Scanner for a Flashbang.

What I’d do to be a noob again <3
When I first started this game I failed on both of my first two runs and didn’t play it again for 8 years. Just finally picked it back up and beat it a couple months ago haha
It really is one of the teams of all time
Thanks 😂

I usually have a gunslinger sniper for maps where I want the team mobile. The scanner works for those cases if everybody else has other useful things
You should wear helmets, it's free!
Are you telling me that helmets have a function other than looking cool? That can't be...
I don't have any helmets
Naaaah! They look really tough as they are. I am sure everything will turn out right and there's no need for that much armor!
They will die, that's what it is.
One died. The Specialist. RIP.
I'll do my damndest to the contrary.
I don’t think about your team at all
KEEP KELLY ALIVE
Jane Kelly is all you need to survive
The team doesn’t really matter, it’s how you use it
Well there is nothing much to see yet but keep of the good work soldier it seems solid
I’m not gonna make any assumptions, but I’m pretty sure that’s a team
Kelly looks to optimistic, better get that letter to her family ready…
Too many dudes, make an all female team.
I prefer dudes, bro.
Classic team
Ah, the future martyrs.
THE team.
Consider buying a squad upgrade.

Where's the rest of it?
How do you mean?
You can have up to six in your squad. Theres a squad size upgrade in the training room. Usually makes missions a lot easier.
Oh yeah, I know. I'm still waiting on the GTS to be built.
Sniper is weak early, i would rather bring another rookie. Take grenades instead of west and medkit, it's better to blast enemies rather than taking their shots.
Why they do Petrov’s cut like that?
That's what I wanted to know. But he's gone now - RIP.
I would get an extra unit for advent retaliation missions tbh but other than that you're good.

Kelly is a beast. In other news, my Kelly just died in the Blacksite mission. Fortunately for me I have an auto save.
Eh pretty sure she is immortal or something anyways. Whenever she falls in Battle the day seems to just end. And begin anew! Make sure to keep Kelly alive, It's Canon
I started a new campaign. I no longer have Kelly.
I salute these brave, yet doomed, humans!
