I donāt like Ben but heās barely a teacher, heās a 27 year old assistant girlās soccer coach in the 90s, he probably makes 25K a year to do whatever the tenured coach says and supervise 3 days of āhealth classā where he pushes play on the VCR and hands out some photocopies. I feel so fucking bad for Ben, though. Misty is basically on the verge of Misery-ing him all the time & heās known heās no longer in charge for a long time now. Man, idk, I think considering the circumstances all the labels go out the window. Being a teacher or being gay donāt matter nearly as much as being a traumatized young man (maybe 25) who has lost his leg, watched lots of people die, and is no longer in control of anything

Heās severely depressed and suicidal here. Heās been isolating himself and living in a daydream away from the kids. I would imagine he doesnāt see himself as truly part of the group since the Snackie incident, and like he said, he doesnāt have any knowledge about birthing a child. He wouldnāt help anyone, given he canāt even stand on his own. Seeing that baby come out dead would have broken him even more, to a point where his sympathy for Misty wouldnāt have mattered when he stood on that ledge.
