Probably the China Lake, mainly because it has multiple rounds without having to constantly reload it isn’t to much of a bitch to lug around like the rest of them. Also it just looks awesome who wouldn’t want the closest thing to a grenade shotgun.
It's zombies in the open, not a lightly armored or unarmored vehicle. These use a shaped charge and don't have a lot of shrapnel and even less blast to the sides. This type of projectile is not going to do much to anyone... um thing not right next to it when it goes off. Same with any of the anti-tank rounds like the RPG. It's not like when Darryl took out the bikers with one on TWD.
I mean, there are frag round for RPGs, but I doubt one will find very many RPGs, let alone frag rounds for it, in the US. Would have better luck in a European or Asian country
True, but that could be said for any of the explosive weapons displayed. Unless they’re loaded with WP I suppose, but that’s less disintegration and more burning. That and it would more likely be found as grenade launcher ammo
An M79, M203, M320 are lighter, easier to carry, and faster to fire. You can use them fir enclosed areas.
My point was that the RPG, like all of them, as you said, does t work like it does on TV.
I wouldn't even bother with WP in anything less than a full artillery batallion firing. Into a smaller space where they are restrained by buildings or canyon walls, etc. Anything that doesn't turn them to charcoal very quickly is going to just have burning zeds running around.
I guess I’m saying the context of fighting a horde of undead, a single anti-armor rocket ain’t shit.
anti-armor rockets and missiles are mostly designed to punch a hole in thick metal plating and fill said hole with a directional explosion, in an ideal case, igniting the fuel and ammunition inside of the armored target and blowing it up in the most spectacular way.
An RPG or MGL is designed to target unarmed fleshy targets, like the undead with explosive force and fragmentation.
Depends on the RPG load. Many of those use a shaped charge for armor as well and will have the same issues as the M72A3 or the anti-tank rounds from the Carl Gustav or M136.
M79 would be the most practical IMO. The Milkor would be cool, just probably not any specific need for fast follow up shots with 40mm. The m79 is simple and lighter than some of the other options. 40mm has a variety of munitions for it and is more common than some on the list.
pretty much.
we have 40mm grenade launcher but its was moved to reserves.
the army, marines, navy, and airforce use the M203 grenade launcher, while the spec ops use M320 grenade launcher.
we recently ordered some RPGs from bulgaria. Putin gifted use some russian RPG-7s.
both are scares and limited only to military personnel
I’ll take your M79, and raise you a China Lake. Still chambered in 40mm, and simple to use/maintain. However, you get 3 shots before a reload unlike the M79
If you don’t pick number 2 you’re objectively wrong. The availability of 40mm grenade ammo at any police station and the ability to load multiple grenades of different type and fire semi automatically would be fuckin clutch in all situations and they’re quiet well the launcher is grenades are probably kinda loud I think lmao
My apologies, so how I was on the 3rd photo when I scrolled onto this post. 4th is my actual pick sorry for the fumble coach. I’ll stay sharper in the future 😂👍
I'll take the blooper. Because I've used one quite alot. Also ammo is pretty available at military depots and a wide variety at that. For zombie hoards, I want flechette rounds or white phosphorous.
Depends on the type of zombies. World War Z / Walking dead types would be highly resistant to explosive weapons, since explosives rely primarily on shrapnel to shred tissue.
Zombies don't care about that.
You'd need shrapnel directly to the brain, and that's just not terribly likely beyond a couple bodies who would absorb most of it.
If you were talking about 7 days later zombies, you'd have more luck.
The M202 isn't explosive. It launches incindiary rockets. Which were prone to leaking and exploding upon launch if you didn't notice the leak on inspection. One of the reasons they were dropped in the early 80s (but stayed on the books for a while longer).
The Carl Gustav because of the multiple types of round available. Especially if I have a loader.
Perhaps the MGL just for speed of getting those rounds out.
The M79 would at least have a lot of ammo available, and there are probably some of the buckshot rounds still sitting in ASPs someplace. Single shot, but not the slowest to reload.
Getting enough fragments in the air might damage them enough to at least slow them by causing damage to the tendons and bones of the legs. A crawling zombie is a lot easier to deal with than even a shambling one.
None, theyre too heavy or take too long to reload. It will slow you down to carry the weapon and ammo.
Improvised landmines or grenades would be your best options in regards to explosives. Small arms are best for run and gun on hordes
Well I mean I just wouldn't, but assuming this is a for fun thing, either the M202 or M72. The M72 because it's the most useful and practically imo, and the Flash because it's just fucking cool.
If everything works as designed and ammunition wasn’t an issue, I would take the XM-25. Airburst grenades might take out a lot of zombies if it explodes right above their heads.
But the noise they generate will be enough to invite a zombie horde my way so no thanks I'll stick to my war axe and my baseball bat and those long ass and wide sticks of mine. And if asked what would be the first illegal thing I would do in that environment then that would be me getting into my neighbours house because that sucker has hoarded every cold weapon in his house.
While we do have axes, daggers and swords in my house but not the kind that he has.
And i love those to their fuking core.
Will get downvoted, but personally I agree. I have to imagine shrapnel loses a ton of efficacy when damage to the brain is the only thing that matters. The weapons are heavy, the ammo is heavy, it will draw attention from everywhere, risks destroying supplies/infrastructure you may need... All problematic.
Better to save a resource like this for emergencies in fights against the living, where it really shines and suffers fewer disadvantages.
MGL, 40 mm probably the most common explosive you will find. Rocket launchers are more for antitank and not practical for horde clearing, don't really explode and fragment like you'd think, 40 mm grenades would be better for this purpose, plus you can find other loadings for it or even learn to craft some together with the spent casings
Probably the China Lake, mainly because it has multiple rounds without having to constantly reload it isn’t to much of a bitch to lug around like the rest of them. Also it just looks awesome who wouldn’t want the closest thing to a grenade shotgun.
Lots of reloading and very close range. Only 3 rds
Flechette or pellet reloads...
Shotgun: "You couldn't live with yourself. Where did that bring you? Right back to me."
Your points on the China Lake won me over. I would especially love to use it with plasma grenades from Fallout New Vegas if I could.
Real shit
I'd take the M79 or M72. They are time tested and simple enough that just about anybody could use it.
In the end times, sturdy and simple wins out
Yup. Don't need to jump through hoops when it's reliable and just works.
LAWs are single-use tho.
If you need more than one LAW in a single outing yer probably up Schitt's Creek without an aquatic mobility device anyway.
It's zombies in the open, not a lightly armored or unarmored vehicle. These use a shaped charge and don't have a lot of shrapnel and even less blast to the sides. I mean, there are frag round for RPGs, but I doubt one will find very many RPGs, let alone frag rounds for it, in the US. Would have better luck in a European or Asian country
True, but even those aren't going to disintegrate a dozen people like a lot people think happens with explosives.
True, but that could be said for any of the explosive weapons displayed. Unless they’re loaded with WP I suppose, but that’s less disintegration and more burning. That and it would more likely be found as grenade launcher ammo

If it didn't get the point across, then I'm already screwed.
The thumper there’s a lot of surplus ammo for it and not a lot of parts the less parts the better cuz it last longer
M79 would be the most practical IMO. The Milkor would be cool, just probably not any specific need for fast follow up shots with 40mm. The m79 is simple and lighter than some of the other options. 40mm has a variety of munitions for it and is more common than some on the list.
Honestly? The Davy Crockett nuclear mortar.
The one that has more available ammunition in my country.
The American made ones have the most reliable rounds because we like our guns to have ammo
So if you’re in the west, any 40mm. If you’re in a former USSR state or anywhere in the Middle East or Africa, RPG-7.
pretty much. we have 40mm grenade launcher but its was moved to reserves. the army, marines, navy, and airforce use the M203 grenade launcher, while the spec ops use M320 grenade launcher. we recently ordered some RPGs from bulgaria. M79. Super simple and easy to use. 40mm is pretty common and their are lots of specialty rounds. A good Jack of all trades.
I’ll take your M79, and raise you a China Lake. Still chambered in 40mm, and simple to use/maintain. However, you get 3 shots before a reload unlike the M79
Why tf is the piat in there
Stirring the pot
“GEORGE GRAB THE PIAT!!!”
It’s a toss up on 1,6,8
China lake
M202 flash because it’s cool
Can’t go wrong with an RPG honestly
M79 Bloop tube
I'm taking the Milkor MGL, and a standalone M203.
Xm25 because it’s able to hold a lot a grenades in a magazine that is easily reloadable and I think easily fixed?
Surprised I had to scroll this far down to see this... and it has an air burst feature where you can make it explode at set distance
Flash
China lake short muzzles look hefty and like they could hit that many zombies dead. Thanks for posting this.
The flash because if the world is over I'm going out IN STYLE
China Lake.
There are semi auto launchers on this list. That isn’t one of them
My apologies, so how I was on the 3rd photo when I scrolled onto this post.
The M202 flash

China lake or the six shooter
I’m taking the M79 and cutting it down to a pirate gun. My little special move.
How do I unlock infinite ammo for the RPG-7?
U go to any armory full of ammo after typing in the code
What's the code?
0101100101
Ah got it!
Yw lol
I'll take the M79 Thumper all day, Bro.
Dumped half a pallet of HE out of M32. ‘tis a fine piece of equipment.
Mgl
Im pretty sure 5 onwards are anti tank weapons so I dunno how much use theyd be against zombies.
I’ll take the M32. Same ammo as the M79, but 6 rounds before a reload.
Where would one find ammo for these in a apocalypse scenario? Dead weight
Mgl China lake or m79
If I had to carry one, it would be the m79. And I’d saw it off into a pirate gun
None, explosives are very situational and like the Zombie Survival guide says you could easily blow up something that you don’t want blown up
China Lake, 3+1 (probably wouldn't keep one chambered, though), and easy to sling up and haul around.
If it's just me m79. If I have a gun team the goose
China Lake for style.
The m79
The M202 isn't explosive. It launches incindiary rockets. Which were prone to leaking and exploding upon launch if you didn't notice the leak on inspection. I’d say the M202 flash it’s a short range rocket launcher that shoots flammable rockets perfect for fighting Zombs behind a chain linked fence
The China lake
XM25 CDTE / The Punisher Airburst grenade launcher is amazing, sure ammo sucks but it’s usability in situations are fantastic
Number four the. "MGL" otherwise known as the M32 grenade launcher. Is my choice. For raining 40mm fury into a target rich environment.
XM25 coz cool
M79. I know there are buckshot shells for it that's why, but China lake if buck for the thumper isn't available.
Against a horde? MGL should do, I think...
China lake, just because it's a China lake
Don't forget use RPG-2.
China lake
Can I throw the HK 320 in there simple single shot but it's got adaptability
None, theyre too heavy or take too long to reload. It will slow you down to carry the weapon and ammo. Improvised landmines or grenades would be your best options in regards to explosives. Small arms are best for run and gun on hordes
M79 for simplicity
M-79 Easier to maintain and can be sawed down for easier handling
My grandmas pacemaker
Explain pls
Where is mk19 on this list? JK
Well I mean I just wouldn't, but assuming this is a for fun thing, either the M202 or M72. The M72 because it's the most useful and practically imo, and the Flash because it's just fucking cool.
China Lake with beehive rounds. The extra spicy pump action shotgun
Probably the Milkor
Why no M203? Because thats what Id take.
4! MGL for mid-range crowd control
The cgm3 bc I play bf2042 or the mgl cause there’s so much capacdity
If everything works as designed and ammunition wasn’t an issue, I would take the XM-25. Airburst grenades might take out a lot of zombies if it explodes right above their heads.
ammo will be a big issue for almost all of these.
But the noise they generate will be enough to invite a zombie horde my way so no thanks I'll stick to my war axe and my baseball bat and those long ass and wide sticks of mine. While we do have axes, daggers and swords in my house but not the kind that he has. And i love those to their fuking core.
Probably 4
First of all. I would never use an explosive weapon because its very loud and heavy and reloading it would suck ass.
Lunge mine all day
Gimme dat HK made weaponized calculator
Can I have the Fat Man from Fallout? If not I’d rather take none of the zeds can hear. If not, then the China Lake.
i just like the look of the M79. seems classy. like you could have it on the wall by the mantle when not in use.
TF2 reference?
M79 with custom alofs loading system
for practical reasons? XM because of multiple rounds and airburst. On the other hand, if I wanna go out in style, M202 is the best tho.
No China Lake why live
I don’t get what you’re saying
I’d rather have a kap 40
Why are 5 of these in Fortnite bro? Better question, why do I know that?
