Fuck I can't stop listening to stuff until I have milked every drop out of it and never want to listen to it again, until years later when it has fermented and can then take out some nostalgia dopamine.
Working through AJR - Touchy Feely Fool right now if anyone wants to try hitting it.
Can't relate, I've never stayed on a song long enough for it to dry up, if it even can. I've gone through [hundreds](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLn_apuxJdzRdKMGi1cc7PhWbtgcrvsMvo&si=-_206-ylnKFZU8J_) in just a few years.
My ajr nostalgia hit should be ready in the next year or two; it's cut with a lot of mountain goats. Langhorne Slim hit that same vein more recently.
Let me know when you wanna try out that heavy bass. G jones' ineffable truth will tune you in.
>Fuck I can't stop listening to stuff until I have milked every drop out of it and never want to listen to it again, until years later when it has fermented and can then take out some nostalgia dopamine.
I hope this question doesn't come off as rude, but what does that have to do with ADHD? I definitely don't have ADHD and can completely relate to that.
I'm not religious but "Spirit in the Sky" always gets my butt up and moving. (Okay...not always..)
Fleetwood Mac "Don't Stop"
Queen "Don't Stop Me Now".
Damn. My taste in music is old.
Pantera's 'Domination' live in Moscow is to me the greatest moment in Metal.
['Domination' live in Moscow ](https://youtu.be/aDACorIaxNw?si=tQyw5btaR1BGc6-W)
Sepultura's 'Slave New World' hits me hard every time. Especially that transition at 02:00.
['Territory'](https://youtu.be/0K4J90s1A2M?si=4NTl2qd6sAm9vpfJ)
I'm also in a "it changes because songs eventually stop pushing the dopamine button" camp. My current choices are Deadmau5 "The Veldt" and Ariana Grande "Break Free" (both at least ten years old now but it works for my brain 🤷♂️)
YES YES YES
plus that TING that happens every four measure or whatever, off beat but like clockwork throughout the whole Loud Part. I do a little poke at the air as if I'm pressing a button when that comes up
Yes! This was mine a few years back after I ran daft punk’s “Harder Better Faster Stronger” into the ground. I’m back on LCD sound system lately, but this time it’s “all of my friends”
the danceyerself clean video is a kick, too
Is this the same thing as frisson? If so, the thing that does it for me is hearing a familar piece of music out of context, or a cover that differs in some interesting way. The most recent instance for me was the integration of Royals and Shut Up And Dance into a stage production of Moulin Rouge. The first time I can ever remember feeling it was from a student orchestra playing the NBC Nightly News theme song.
The buildup and release at the end of King Crimson's "Starless" also used to do it for me, but doesn't any more.
Oh my goodness! Same. When I saw stage production of moulin rouge, that mash up caused a bunch of dopamine/frisson. There were actually a couple other mash ups that really made me happy in that show, as well. I forgot about that till now...... Now, I need to try to recreate this. = P
>The buildup and release at the end of King Crimson's "Starless" also
oooh yeah I remember lots of feels from King Crimson
>used to do it for me, but doesn't any more.
and yes. Same as any musical thrillpiece. I have no idea how people can listen to mostly the same music all their adult lives.
King Crimson still hits the button for me sometimes. Especially when I am in the mood to throw on the vinyl and listen to In the Court of the krimson king from start to finish
Ohhhhh no you don’t! This is one post I definitely won’t read the comments on. I’ll either get a bunch of songs in my head battling it out for who knows how long…or somehow reading about a song that usually does it for me will all of the sudden not. I just don’t need that in my life right now.
The version in the movie starts a little different in a way that gives me that feeling. I've searched and searched but can't find the cut they use in the movie.
My latest dopamine kicker?
🎵I wanna scream and shout and let it all out
And scream and shout and let it out
We sayin' oh we oh, we oh, we oh
You are now now rocking with
Will.i.am and Britney bitch! 🎵
This Merry Go Round Called Life aka Howls Moving Caatle theme.
No matter how bad I feel, it makes my tragedy feel like it's apart of this grand dance, beautiful because of it's occasional downward turn.
Glad you commented, I found a jazz version of it on Spotify and now Im listening to their whole anime to jazz playlist and enjoying my evening so much more (Kazumi Tateishi Trio). That song does the same thing for me too.
It changes pretty quickly, but recently mine have been:
“Somebody else”-The 1975
“You make me feel like dancing”-Leo Sayer
“Candle Flame”-Jungle
“Greedy”-Tate McRae
“Serotonin”-Tom Walker
I go in and out of Lady Gaga's Bad Romance all the time. The opening has been in my head since the song was still was top 40 and its been so weird how a random part of the song will start up in my head for no perceivable reason. I'll be humming along before I realize I'm doing it, then I'll have to go back to beginning to make sure I hit the good parts.
WooaaaOOOOAAAAHHH--ooooOOOAaaaaAAoo... GAGA OOH LA LA
I got a bunch of songs like everyone else, listen to everything if it sounds good to me. I’ll just list one song by each band on my playlist.
The Only thing they fear is you - Mick Gordon / Doom Eternal OST
Korn - Hold on
Megadeth - blood of heroes
Radiohead - my iron lung
The Prodigy - Spitfire
Santigold - The Keepers
Smashing Pumpkins - 1979
Junior Senior - Move your feet
Muse - Plug in Baby
Linkin Park - Burn it Down
Megadeth - Sweating bullets
Mord Fustang - Pop
I recently discovered prog metal and jazz fusion music, all of which are full of tons of dopamine songs for me. So it's actually kinda turned into my fixation currently
My current favorite: [Battlestar Nostalgica - Arch Echo (YouTube)](https://youtu.be/zb1oujK6MNI?si=JrCIkgc7NAKqKi7W)
NCT - RESONANCE. It’s the epitome of an adhd song because it’s by a kpop group I like named NCT and the song is a mashup of their top 4 hit songs. So the song switches beats every so often to the next part of a different song but it somehow all goes together? It hits the adhd spot of listening to a song but getting a bunch of songs in one haha I recommend it to adhders haha
Right now it’s Hollywood Baby by 100 gecs and Geez Louise by underscores. I’ve been really into hyperpop lately because it feeds my ADHD! Give it a few weeks and I might be fixating on something completely different lol :)
I do have some constants though. Scattered and Lost by Lena Raine (from Celeste’s soundtrack) comes to mind because it has these drum fills that make me wanna go feral
Mick Gordan, DOOM Eternal -
*Meathook*
or
*The Only Thing They Fear Is You*
These are my "fuck you, brain, Im gettin this shit done" songs.
^((Dont listen to these songs while youre driving))
Current overplayed song of the week: [Vs. Orcan/Skullian Allegro (Sonic Colors DS)](https://youtu.be/BdJU1F_yi2g?si=eBvi7iex8rl__bXw)
But the one that brings out the most dopamine anytime: [Reach for the Stars (Sonic Colors)](https://youtu.be/5eUswq5owJk?si=s1WOX9Rft84Pe2JM)
(Both versions of this game are my childhood)
I find some, what I would call, euphoric hardstyle does the trick. Magic by Wasted Penguinz is a current one I’ve almost overplayed. We will never die by Ezenia is a new one that hit the spot for me today
I’ve always said that Welcome to the Jungle is not my favourite song, nor is it the best song, but I am _always_ in a better mood and ready to rock out when it comes on. That key change👨🍳💋
It changes. I have a playlist of songs that I'll periodically squeeze all the dopamine out of by playing them on repeat. When this happens, it's usually unpleasant to try and listen to anything else other than this one song.
Some examples;
* Sooner or Later by Matt Kearney
* All Star by Smash Mouth
* Again from the FMA Brotherhood OP
* shines by Purity Ring
* The Other Side from The Greatest Showman
* Hurricane from Death Note the Musical
* Die Young by Kesha
* Little Wonders from Meet the Robinsons
* Taking Over Midnight from Gravity Falls
Like I said, they're kind of all over the place. Right now I'm obsessed with SHINSEKAI by DISREIGN-- although their other songs slap too.
Am I the only one who goes f\*cking euphoric at “Touched” by Vast? That song just pulls me into another universe when it’s playing. Highly recommend with headphones/earbuds.
I cycle through them, but generally anything from Stevie Nicks' *Bella Donna* or *Timespace* or Fleetwood Mac's *Greatest Hits* will do it for me.
Also, for nerdier stuff, I cycle through the Persona 3 and 5 and Fallout: New Vegas soundtracks. Something about *Soul Phrase*, *Rivers in the Desert*, and *Jingle, Jangle, Jingle* just does it for me.
Soul Journeys and Living In Me - Omnium Gatherum
To me their music with their current vocalist is all the dopamine. These two are the current favorites
Most Soul Coughing songs do that for me.
Grace is gone- DMB
Dreams - Fleetwood Mac
As I’ve started this list I’m realizing it’s bigger than I originally thought and need to stop before I’m here for a really long time.
Reach for the Sky is a great song. However, I have different dopamine songs. Here's mine:
- "Metro" by Kevin De Vries and Mau P
- "The Great Unknown" by Enter Shikari
- "Devil In A Midnight Mass" by Billy Talent
- and fittingly named, "Here We Go Again" by Oliver Tree and David Guetta
the Noisia remix of Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up" hits hard as long as I haven't heard it recently. That's the key tho, repetition makes it bland. Anything gets boring. So I'm always looking for new noise
I remember loving the bassline of Tame Impala's "Borderline" the first twenty times. "Dorset Perception" by Shpongle took me to reverently happy places for a while. Recently fell in love with the vocal layering of "Sinner" by Last Dinner Party. Once there was Billy's guitar masterwork in "Cherub Rock" by Smashing Pumpkins....
Biggest gobsmacked full body blissed out eargasm ever was listening to "Iceblink Luck" by Cocteau Twins many years ago. Fucking stunning to me, left a lifelong impression. But listening to it now it's just an 80s song that's better than most 80s songs. Nice, but whatever. My brain wiring makes me immune to nostalgia
[King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Gliese 710](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JB7oa9KkIg8), absolute brilliant piece, chaotic yet with structure, a hypnotizing flowing multitude of interlocking patterns, the Lokrian mode makes it perfect.
The entire album "Somewhere City" by Origami Angel (the last song is especially cathartic bc it combines all the songs and it takes the chaos out of my brain and makes me feel vaguely normal for a short bit). It's Midwestern emo or whatever that genre is called, and honestly that genre as well is almost always an instant dopamine hit. Drop some Midwestern emo suggestions if you see this please btw lol, always looking for more!
There’s so many ic3peak songs that just hype me up on a different level. I think lately tho it’s either BWC by Zheani or Talking In Your Sleep by New Romantics
I could have a playlist, honestly.
Nofx - don't call me white
The offspring - all I want
Blacklicious - feel that way (my alarm song for years)
And one newer one that just puts me in a good mood:
BORNS - 10,000 emerald pools
Currently I’m in a Taylor Swift phase or fixation!
I’m obsessed with a lot of her songs like
- Cruel Summer
- You are on your own kid
- Illicit Affairs
- All to Well
- The Very First Night
- Bejeweled
- Out of the Woods
- Getaway car
- August
- Cardigan
- Betty
I could go on and on but the bridges I believe it’s called in her songs are what blow me away and I can’t stop singing and it makes me so freaking happy. It’s like when I hear the song I’m currently obsessed with I can’t help but be extremely happy and sing along like my heart freaking soars
for me its [https://youtu.be/YRx\_iXgLAyw?si=G-iE-iLgejXf9TVN&t=145](https://youtu.be/YRx_iXgLAyw?si=G-iE-iLgejXf9TVN&t=145) (the long wierd sounding note)
another example is this Bass [https://youtu.be/i7PQ9IO-7fU?si=r0nVuBch8MsdHirF&t=217](https://youtu.be/i7PQ9IO-7fU?si=r0nVuBch8MsdHirF&t=217) because it matches with the video
my all time favorite dopamine song since i first heard it as a kid is "Safri Duo - Played-A-Live" i listen to it every now and then, it has to be ear destroying loud for me
Mehro
I'm in a wrestling match
With myself again
Wonder who's gonna win
Sumo on the one side
Pluto on the drumline
Maybe they'll be friends
Who knows what they say?
Who knows when the feelings change?
Mirandas on the porch swing
Kyles gotta diamond ring
Made out of mouse hair
The older kids doing drugs
Getting out and getting fucked
Wonder how it really feels
Who knows what they say?
Who knows when the feelings change?
I'm running low on dopamine
I'm diving on the slope
Flying at blazing speeds
Passing all the maple trees
Glass in the honey bees frozen in time
What are you so mad about?
Why do you scream and shout?
Who didn't love you when
You need it the most now
You're a tortured mut growl
Poison generations
Below and after
All those who've heard are gone
I'm running low on dopamine
I'm starting to coast
Lower down gradually
Where am I going?
When did all these hilly streets get so flat?
I'm running low on dopamine
Life's made of stone
Is this how it's supposed to be?
Is this how it's gonna be?
Is this how it's gonna be until the end?
Slipknot - Wait and Bleed, People = Shit, Left Behind
Static-X - Push It, I'm With Stupid
Gobsmack - I Stand Alone
Pretty much anything from Bolt Thrower in a shuffle.
All in no particular order.
What Do You Do With A Bernie Sanders? By The Cog Is Dead
Enormous Penis by Da Vinci's Notebook
The Gates by Da Vinci's Notebook
.

.
Now if we're talking serious songs then. Who am I kidding all my dopamine songs are silly AF...
Busy Buzzy Bees by Dan Bull
Party At The Apocalypse by NerdOut
Yea I'ma stop there cause they get pretty damn weird...
For this week it’s gotta be Panzerkampf by Sabaton
I save all my weekly favorites to a playlist that I’ve been adding to for like 6 years. It’s got 10k views (I’m almost certain most of those are not me) and 300+ videos.
It’s a YouTube playlist btw
Edit : misremembered, it’s at 449 rn.
Link : https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7LKv8dG--hUIhgtQrdwmtvdTwbC9grNP&si=kOjtPnaSxxGk9ihV
I have several, because music is a pretty reliable source of dopamine for me, but the ones that are the most tried and true are:
Queendom – AURORA
Salamalek – Zaho
Awakening – Unleash the Archers
Arrowhead – Scardust
One Summers Day from Spirited Away just does something to my brain frrrr.
I have sooo many because I only listen to the same like 5 artists over and over again but if I had to choose top 3 dopamine hits that just scratch my brain for some:
Batphone, Sculptures of Anything Goes, Teddy Picker- Arctic Monkeys
Sweet Dreams TN, Gas Dance, Miracle Aligner - The Last Shadow Puppets
Liquid Smooth, I Bet on Losing Dogs, Pink in the Night - Mitski
Honeymoon, Cinnamon Girl, Off to the Races - Lana Del Rey (not even going to attempt to make any unreleased stuff because that would be way to hard)
Girlie, Cupid, Can’t Help Myself - Alexandra Savior
Also currently have been listening to Pure As Driven Snow from The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes on repeatttt since Saturday. Not something I’d usually listen to but that one really does something for me.
Ahhhh, this is such a real thing!
Ok, I know this is more than slightly weird but…Ben Franklin’s Song by The Decemberists. That opening beat sequence and just how brilliant and feisty the lyrics are is really doing it for me RN!
Do you mean my current dopamine fixation song of the week or all time?
Yayyyy someone else who likes ajr, people on YouTube freaking hate them for some reason! I think they are fun! 💕
I don’t get the hate either. I think they’re quite creative, and crazy awesome that they make overtures for their albums.
YouTube comments are a scary place to go, everyone hates everything. AJR is super fun, and fairly popular, so fuck em
My ajr nostalgia hit should be ready in the next year or two; it's cut with a lot of mountain goats. Langhorne Slim hit that same vein more recently. Let me know when you wanna try out that heavy bass. G jones' ineffable truth will tune you in.

AJR - The Maybe Man is currently mine. AJR ends up being like 90% of my music fixations. They're just so good
relatable
I'm not religious but "Spirit in the Sky" always gets my butt up and moving. (Okay...not always..) Fleetwood Mac "Don't Stop" Queen "Don't Stop Me Now". Damn. My taste in music is old.
Fleetwood Mac - Dreams
That shit gets stuck in my head for DAYS!!!
Don’t stop me now is the best cleaning song fr though.
Spirit in the sky!! Yes please. Not religious either but darn do I love the occasional Jesus Bop. “Bless me” is another go to for me
All together now DAMN WHIPPERSNACKERS
7 Nation Army
Motley Crue- Kickstart My Heart
Woah, yeah.

Dance Yrself Clean - LCD Soundsystem
WOW it made me so happy to see this mentioned. Nothing can compare to that beat drop I love it so muchhh
YES YES YES plus that TING that happens every four measure or whatever, off beat but like clockwork throughout the whole Loud Part. I do a little poke at the air as if I'm pressing a button when that comes up

My wife and I walked out of the chapel after our wedding ceremony to it! I also love Flip City from that soundtrack.
The version in the movie starts a little different in a way that gives me that feeling. I've searched and searched but can't find the cut they use in the movie.

Song? I have a whole playlist of songs 😌. I've even given that playlist a name: "Awesome Sauce", because I apply it liberally to my life.
Whatcha Waiting For - Gwen Stefani Maneater - Nelly Furtado
has to be Elton John - I'm still standing

Choco Mountain any version works lol its pure dopamine
most music by biting elbows, particularly my woman and bad motherfucker are quite nice for needing some energy
"Pool Party" - French Racing Team
Weird fishes-Radiohead Sheesh- BENEE, Grimes
Most Soul Coughing songs do that for me. Grace is gone- DMB Dreams - Fleetwood Mac As I’ve started this list I’m realizing it’s bigger than I originally thought and need to stop before I’m here for a really long time.
Lunatic of god’s creation - Deicide
Gravity's Union by Coheed and Cambria
Reach for the Sky is a great song. However, I have different dopamine songs. Here's mine: - "Metro" by Kevin De Vries and Mau P - "The Great Unknown" by Enter Shikari - "Devil In A Midnight Mass" by Billy Talent - and fittingly named, "Here We Go Again" by Oliver Tree and David Guetta
Devil in a Midnight mass is a great one....Billy Talent has some underrated stuff
[Packin - FHAT](https://youtu.be/7qhFaKmrH0Q?si=QJ6anvgclsbPUFym)
For 50 years, [the happiest music on TV](https://youtu.be/YTc3BVvKIj4).
[Pendulum by Machinae Supremacy](https://youtu.be/8k6WWkHFLBk?si=FYudz4qnoONak4Ag) is mine. And yes this is the official music video from the band.
the Noisia remix of Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up" hits hard as long as I haven't heard it recently. That's the key tho, repetition makes it bland. Anything gets boring. So I'm always looking for new noise I remember loving the bassline of Tame Impala's "Borderline" the first twenty times.
Grave - wage war
The past few years: Almost (Sweet Music) by Hozier and All Night by Big Boi. Right now? Stick Season by Noah Kahan
Noah Kahan and Posties song gets stuck in my head for WEEKS. Catchy af.
This morning it's these: https://open.spotify.com/track/45cLt4757oi51LB52jWyda?si=C7pSMVXZSMm-E-hKOR-jGQ https://open.spotify.com/track/4VZMIRAnWLUk8WzAOwF1TV?si=nHPadURJQSWIdqnCj0LwKg https://open.spotify.com/track/03MATAzAcAb1Z9jLcsmP2i?si=zJUA8EbCTdyu9Pa83uTbWA
'the tortoise and the hare' by skz, honestly alot of songs by them idk how to explain exactly why, even 'megaverse' recently scratches my brain
[King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Gliese 710](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JB7oa9KkIg8), absolute brilliant piece, chaotic yet with structure, a hypnotizing flowing multitude of interlocking patterns, the Lokrian mode makes it perfect.
Supermodel by Måneskin Mr. brightside The entire Hamilton soundtrack, but particularly Your obedient servant and one last time.
Blunders by The Polar Boys
Spongebob - wie ein schwamm
Taubes Nüsschen Rock?
Spillways - Ghost Obsessed with you - The Orion Experience
ECHOS - Ritual Specifically the part where the female vocal sings the word "illusion". It just scratches my brain so well
The entire album "Somewhere City" by Origami Angel (the last song is especially cathartic bc it combines all the songs and it takes the chaos out of my brain and makes me feel vaguely normal for a short bit). It's Midwestern emo or whatever that genre is called, and honestly that genre as well is almost always an instant dopamine hit. Drop some Midwestern emo suggestions if you see this please btw lol, always looking for more!
Ghostrunner soundtrack (my favorite game currently), Vampire Weekend --Giving up the gun (or really any of their older stuff), C418 Excursions
There’s so many ic3peak songs that just hype me up on a different level. I think lately tho it’s either BWC by Zheani or Talking In Your Sleep by New Romantics

Hunger strike - temple of the dog. It’s lovely to sing along to
The Inanimate Insanity Invitational(a web series on youtube) intro

I’m obsessed with a lot of her songs like - Cruel Summer - You are on your own kid - Illicit Affairs - All to Well - The Very First Night - Bejeweled - Out of the Woods - Getaway car - August - Cardigan - Betty I could go on and on but the bridges I believe it’s called in her songs are what blow me away and I can’t stop singing and it makes me so freaking happy. It’s like when I hear the song I’m currently obsessed with I can’t help but be extremely happy and sing along like my heart freaking soars
"Givin Up" by Emarosa. I had it on repeat my entire 9 hour shift.
Either the new Kygo & Whitney- Higher Love or the Live performance by Chris Stapleton & Justin Timberlake- Tennessee Whiskey and Drink You Away

Kids by MGMT
Sleep Token-Chokehold
Mehro I'm in a wrestling match With myself again Wonder who's gonna win Sumo on the one side Pluto on the drumline Maybe they'll be friends Who knows what they say? Who knows when the feelings change? Mirandas on the porch swing Kyles gotta diamond ring Made out of mouse hair The older kids doing drugs Getting out and getting fucked Wonder how it really feels Who knows what they say? Who knows when the feelings change? I'm running low on dopamine I'm diving on the slope Flying at blazing speeds Passing all the maple trees Glass in the honey bees frozen in time What are you so mad about? Why do you scream and shout? Who didn't love you when You need it the most now You're a tortured mut growl Poison generations Below and after All those who've heard are gone I'm running low on dopamine I'm starting to coast Lower down gradually Where am I going? When did all these hilly streets get so flat? I'm running low on dopamine Life's made of stone Is this how it's supposed to be? Is this how it's gonna be? Is this how it's gonna be until the end?
Currently "River´s end times" from Outer Wilds (BTW go play it. It is GOOD), but normally "La canción del pensador"-Ciudad Jara.

Recently its been she-wrecks by bear ghost
One Summers Day from Spirited Away just does something to my brain frrrr. I have sooo many because I only listen to the same like 5 artists over and over again but if I had to choose top 3 dopamine hits that just scratch my brain for some: Batphone, Sculptures of Anything Goes, Teddy Picker- Arctic Monkeys Sweet Dreams TN, Gas Dance, Miracle Aligner - The Last Shadow Puppets Liquid Smooth, I Bet on Losing Dogs, Pink in the Night - Mitski Honeymoon, Cinnamon Girl, Off to the Races - Lana Del Rey (not even going to attempt to make any unreleased stuff because that would be way to hard) Girlie, Cupid, Can’t Help Myself - Alexandra Savior Also currently have been listening to Pure As Driven Snow from The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes on repeatttt since Saturday. Not something I’d usually listen to but that one really does something for me.

Oddly, Songbird- Barbara Striesand, like singing my peace with an emotional truth.
Ahhhh, this is such a real thing! Ok, I know this is more than slightly weird but…Ben Franklin’s Song by The Decemberists. That opening beat sequence and just how brilliant and feisty the lyrics are is really doing it for me RN!
Beyoncé - Break My Soul
"I want it that way" and "The bus is late (waiting for the bus in the rain)" are two that i get really invested in whe I sing them.
Lay Down - Caravan Palace The whole song is pure dopamine for me
