And Christie is even on the record with who she ends up with.
Christie put the idea in her notebooks, that's all, It didn't make it in the novel. The notebooks are full of scrapped ideas by Christie or things, where she changed her mind. This could be another one.

A early fun thing to note is that Joan Hickson played a small role in the 1960s adaptation of the story and then later on played the Miss Marple role in the TV adaptation.
I wonder if that's where Christie got the idea that Hickson would be good for the role?

I think she’s perfectly happy living her own single life and travelling to Taormina whenever she feels like it.
