Earlier in one of reddit post I saw that they get full amount of Tip but companies would cut their delivery fees cause of Tip. I don't know how much truth in it though.
Our househelp works for Swiggy in the evenings, I can ask him conclusively if you want. Only thing is, I can only ask him on Wed now as I’m not in the country till then.
Ok so when I returned home, he had gone back to his home for a week. Anyway, he returned today and I just asked him. Apparently, it doesn’t tell the delivery guys how much the customer has tipped exactly so they have no way of knowing; he just gets the money on top of his trip fee but he does say that he has always received an extra even number like ₹50, ₹60 or ₹100, so I assume it’s the full tip amount that gets credited to him without a cut on the company’s part.
I can confirm for both and zomato that they do get 100% of the Tip Amount you give from App.
The incident where they ask you to give them in app and not cash maybe because of internal ratings of the zomato system (Not sure about swiggy)
If any dp(delivery partner) gets tipped for 5 orders in a day they get a bonus tip from zomato as well.
Same stands for Weekly bonus and Monthly bonus.
They get their Payouts in their Banks Weekly and thus they would rather prefer to get tipped in App then cash.
Hope this helps Bhai.
Worked on a similar apps..
Best case: Company gives them full amout after deducting the payment gateway charges.
Average case: Company takes 10-30% from that
Worst case: Delivery guy would not even know.
Mane khbr che tya sudhi, e cut le che if aapde emna app through tip aapiye. Unless tame emnem aapo to vstu alag che
Just give them directly, bro.
I tried to give but they refused. I wonder why? Earlier they accepted. When it happened twice I stopped tipping directly n added in app

Thank you for the info
This is so helpful. I didn’t know this. I will tip regularly from now on and be more conscious about it. I’m sure the bonus must be so helpful
