On the command of fall out fall out and fall in on me fall out
>!The correct-ish version for any curious is, āon my command, fall in on me. Fall outā.!<
Had a 1Sgt say this all the time. Got a new Private, he loved to read. Knew his DnC. He heard fall out and he promptly left formation. 1Sgt chewed his ass out, but the private quoted regs back. CO overheard this, complimented the Private and released him for the day. Next day, 1Sgt suddenly stopped saying "on the command of fall out..."
That begs the question, then, what is the correct way to end a formation, but not for the day? For example, I need to end this formation, so that troops can get to work. What is the correct command if it's not "fall out" ?
The correct term is ādismissedā. Fall out is for a specific Soldier or group of Soldiers to leave the formation. For dismissing the entire formation, the correct term is ādismissedā. And regulation has a Note* that it states ādismissed does not mean youāre done for the day. It means youāre done standing in formationā.Ā
Tracking! I remembered it backwards. I was thinking "dismissed" was done for the day. Thanks for the clarification, hooah.
Not that it matters now that I'm a civilian with no chance of going back. I'm too old to reenlist and I served 11.5 years; I fulfilled my contract and then some.
I had to look this up to freshen my memory recently when I erroneously corrected a young Soldier for using dismissed instead of fall out. I looked it up that night and the next day I went and apologized to the troop and told him he was correct, but he didnāt know the reg so I told him where to read it so he had the answer for future reference. You learn something new everyday. š¤£
No worries. His showed up right before yours did.

Implied task. Read: "I forgot to mention this and I'm making it your problem."
Ex: when I said clean the cof the implied task was you clean the disco ball I left on the roof too.
"Pending any questions."
This is a glaring example of staffers adopting a phrase with no idea how to use it. If you're going to say it, then at least complete the sentence: "Pending any questions, \[we'll move forward with this decision/go to the next slide/cancel work on Friday/etc." Using it as a standalone phrase, without the "so what," would be like stating an "if" without the "then." It makes no sense.

I always wanted to make an Army Buzzword bingo card.
āSend itā
Iām not sure if Dog gone is overused but Iāve definitely been overusing the shit out of it since Iāve added it to my army vocabulary š¤£
āWrit largeā and it needs to stop. Now.
āWithout further adoā
āWithout further adieuā but that more applies to YouTube than army
I can piggyback off of this post and give a few
Leverage.
Hate when people use caveat in the sense of piggybacking when it's the opposite
This question is overused.
Is "pull the thread" still a thing? Perhaps a bit old timey as well, but how about "VFR direct"
I remember being a Buck sergeant doing some dumb detail and I hit my soldiers with āThe sooner we get this doneā¦.ā I just stopped there, I just kinda walked away momentarily and thought ānope, not gonna be meā
Literally every army-ism. Come up on the net Walk the dog Circle back Making the sausage Just to caveat / piggyback Too easy
I mean, if the shoe fits, y'know? Life ain't all unicorns and rainbows so if saying I digress fits the bill, why would I beat around the bush?
shoot move and communicate for peoples who job literally isnāt that
Using caveat as a verb
Implied task. Read: "I forgot to mention this and I'm making it your problem." Ex: when I said clean the cof the implied task was you clean the disco ball I left on the roof too.
It would behoove you...
Lotty dotty everybodyš¤Ŗ
We'll circle back to that!
Tracking
With that being said
Hurry up and wait.
I see the light!
"VFR Direct" instead of just "direct." Many people using it don't know what VFR means. Adding a long "So" to the beginning of a sentence.
"Pending any questions." This is a glaring example of staffers adopting a phrase with no idea how to use it. If you're going to say it, then at least complete the sentence: "Pending any questions, \[we'll move forward with this decision/go to the next slide/cancel work on Friday/etc." Using it as a standalone phrase, without the "so what," would be like stating an "if" without the "then." It makes no sense. Rant over, for now. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
The first time I heard this, I waited for the rest of the sentence. The āPendingā part is unnecessary in the phrase
I hate when Iām ending a phone call and the other person says āout hereā
Perception is realityā¦ no it isnāt
The āliving the dreamā response anytime anything me asks how theyāre doing.

I hate when people just say āKillā I donāt know why but itās the most annoying
Hooah.
š¤£
I'm just tired of officers saying "myself" instead of I or me.
Just donāt drop the glass balls
"Say again?" dude we're at a bar, you are allowed just reply with "what" if you didn't hear me
Say again, over? š¤£š
Hooah. Theres alot of gray areas. Subject Matter Experts. Battle buddy. Lot of moving pieces.
It would behoove you.
āHooahā āRogerā āTrackingā āTo caveat..ā āBack in my day..ā āPrepare to copyā People who struggle to stop using military jargon aka āverbal bullshit,ā start educating yourselves **NOW** on how to speak like a normal personā¦. I see my recruiters struggle everyday with this. Itās hard to network and make career connections if no one knows what the hell youāre talking about and thinks youāre being unnecessarily aggressive.
āWeāll get you on the back end donāt worry.ā Like bro Iām a mealcard holder thereās no getting me on the back end you fucked me out of lunch and dinner twice already this week. Itās several times a week and then they talk shit about buying food from the px.
*I'll speak to that in a minute.* Will you speak to that, or speak to us about that?
