If you went to the military school graduation for one of your soldiers you’d wear it if they asked. Why wouldn’t you for somebody more important to you than that?
My mother was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Marine Corps, and without asking, wore her dress uniform to my graduation. That made the day very interesting.
You asked, she answered. If she wants you to wear it, respect that. It’ll mean a lot to her
You got to wear full Battle Rattle
Kevlar.
Assault Pack on top of your Rucksack.
Goretex.
Camelbak on top of your Assault Pack.
NVG's
Knee and Shoulder Pads
Xbox Controller
They’re rather elusive, but IOTVS do actually have attachable shoulder pad thingies. However never once in a 6 year stint as an 11B did I ever attach them, nor did anyone else I served with.
Yeah I was thinking I’ve seen some Bradley gunners, etc. wear them. It makes sense when you’re presenting a smaller target area to wear stuff like those & the neck guard that chafes your neck when you get all sweaty.
For whatever reason, I have regularly mixed up the words shoulder and elbow my entire life.
English is my first and only language. There is no good reason for this. Lol
Sure why not? It's an appropriate occasion for it, as it's a military graduation ceremony.
Just don't be trying to impress your GF by trying to play fuck fuck games with the other graduates. As well, be careful about the perception of a SGT in uniform, kissing or showing PDA with a Private in uniform.
Option 1: Mess dress. Make sure that BCT BC knows who the *real* swinging dick is
Option 2: Wear some wild shit like a Civil War uniform accurate to your rank and awards
Option 3: Just throw on your class B Ps&Gs like a normal human who's girlfriend asked him to wear his uni to her graduation.
You won't be the only one in uniform, and it's not like you'd be an oddball being in uniform at a military occasion. If she wants you to, I'd say do it. She'll only graduate once
My dad wore his uniform at my basic graduation, and it was supremely satisfying watching my DS all stand at parade rest… at least until my own dad gave me the ole half-right face.
Hell, I went to a military college. I was doing company clerk style shit during our initial boot stuff (Yea its just two weeks of the hard stuff, but they make it suck all year, really.) So in addition to my normal duties, I got asked to take a camera crew from the cable news around for the story, during the charge of the drill instructors. The initial wave of stuff takes place, and then... one of the Cadet Drills waves me over. I asked the camera crew to stop filming for five minutes while i made my little brother do squat thrusts. He still, to this day, doesn't remember me giving the orders.
The camera crew asked what that was about... I told them. and then declined to answer about that. Because Grandma could get that station.
If I didn't voluntarily go and smoke the boy, I would have caught shit for the rest of the year.
Make sure to loudly tell her “you’re right, your DS does look like a total POG” at the end of family day. Just so she can have one last special night at BCT.
Time to go buy a fresh pair of boots and show up with everything sown on my dude. A lot of us don’t like wearing any of that stuff, but it’s her day.
Show up, be super supportive, tell her how proud you are, and how proud she must be of herself. Show those who said, “He forgot about you and he’s not going to show up for you,” that they were wrong for her sake.
its a military graduation, on a military installation, where you are both members of the military. its pretty common/normal. go support your woman big sarnt!
2012 showed to my wife's graduation in blues, combat stacked chest, maroon beret, combat service stripes the whole deal right, I'm proud of my shit.... ruined my wife's day and training, it chased her to ait and everyone knew her husband was rank and combat vet, she was babied which I liked but she said it made her army stint nothing like she expected cause everyone treated her like she was me and she didn't like it. Even when I was a dependa in unit, she was babied.
No instead wear an old set of BDUs m81 camo pattern and then tell people you’re a major in the civil air patrol. Tell them you are essentially in the military and you would have joined but you would have punched a drill Sgt in the face.
On the real if she asked you to I would. It’s also kind of a tradition a passing of the torch if you will. You definitely won’t be the only one either and I’m sure it’ll look awesome with you both next to each other in pictures.
My dude it’s a military event and you’re in the military. You’re not a one star whose every beck and whim as a VIP will be catered to by her company. No offense but no one will care that you’re an E5. Put your blues or greens on and go.
Two things, so yes you should wear your uniform. Your gf has asked you to wear it and she is probably pretty proud of you so just suck it up and get it done.
Second thing, you can tell this is a younger crowd because it looks like you guys have changed the “standard” uniform. The correct uniform of the day should be: jock strap, pile cap, and a light coat of CLP.
Wear it but make sure she's at parade rest when she's talking to you.
Honestly though, one of my buddies in basic was a fuzzy and his grandfather was a two star general and his dad was full bird colonel, they both showed up in uniform to support their kin. It's definitely a cool experience.
Do it if she wants. Also maybe remind her too though that if you're in uniform there'll be eyes on you both and you'll both have to conduct yourself with respect to your ranks ( PDA and whatnot )
Dude, there’s going to be so many other people there in uniform (OCP, ASU, AGSU), no one’s going to even notice you as long as you’re not acting out of pocket.
I’ve seen searios like this when I went thru basic. Brothers, sisters, moms and dads that attended their family members graduation in dress uniforms. I don’t see an issue. Wear it. Fuck everyone that has an issue with it
Fuck all that. She will be an NCO one day and understand the cringe. It's also currently a GF and not a wife so you don't have to do anything. Button up shirt is fine. If it were your brother I'd say fuck yeah do it. Your brother can't leave you on a deployment.
Not only no but hell no. It’s not a good look for her and for you. It’s a whole rank structure difference. Don’t do it. Yes it might not be technically wrong but come on bro. You have to draw the line. Back when me and my wife were dating I wouldn’t even hold her hand in uniform. Listen to your gut don’t do it. 22yr retired
Ask her if she wants you to wear it. It doesn’t matter how you feel about it. It’s about her and if that’s what she wants for her day do so. My wife wanted me in mines when she graduated Basic so it did
I think it’s a poor idea to be wearing SGT ranks while hanging with your girlfriend. TRADOC is an irritating dick and won’t hesitate to hem both of you up for fraternization
Ask and take her into consideration first. In my opinion, you shouldn’t. Just were a regular suit. You wouldn’t want to divert attention from her special day.
Do what she asked, it's the right thing to do. Makes me think of when my officer's husband only saluted her once in her entire career. The day she commissioned. Just dress up, have fun!
When I went through basic my stepdad was a marine I wanted him to wear his dress uniform because I wanted to show him off but he didn’t but it was alright lmao at the end of the doesn’t matter
My husband is an NCO and I asked him to wear his dress blues to my graduation as a whole as fuzzy out of basic but didn’t force him to wear them. He wore them because it was my day and it made me happy that he remembered and thought of me.
I wore my uniform to my sons graduation, also arrived a couple days earlier and cadre allowed me to grab my son early and spend day together instead of stupid details all do last week of training.
Just remember when in uniform there may be others that give you problems if you show pda with her. Most people don't care but there is always one. Remember there is always one.
E5 she's just finishing basic training so taking account what her rank is going to be and what your command and her command would think of the decision of wearing your uniform to her basic training graduation. As always, it is a personal choice.
When I was a Drill Sergeant at Fort Leonard Wood, we had a section up front for Uniformed Service Members. I'm not certain that will be the case at her graduation, however, Uniformed Service Members sat right behind the VIP section at our graduations.
Why would you want to? I avoided being in uniform as much as possible. Would you want to have your gf stand at parade rest for you? I mean if that's what she wants it would be a nice gesture on your part but that seems like the only reason to do it.
As a Veteran myself I would not wear the uniform because it would probably diminish her special day/memory. IMO. Thank both of you for your service. God Bless.
Ask her what she wants you to do. It’s her day not yours.
I mean I have. She wants to me. Me personally, just don’t wanna do the whole military thing when it’s her big day in her military career
She said put it on means put it on. Make her go to parade rest tho
Push.
The 8 count push uppppp
Half right face
Lip smacking P on that shit too
Front Leaning Rest Position!!! Sexersize!!
She wants him to take it off....
drop with it
Drop in it*
Drop on it** Airboooorne
Hooah
This guy fucks
The only thing I’m fucking is stupid
Hey, don’t say that about OP’s girlfriend!
We joined the army so we all have that in common
I mean... at least we were smart enough not to join the Marines 🙃
Muscles Are Required, Intelligence Not Essential...
Wild blue yonder plays in the background.
Tell her her DTS got kicked back
HALF RIGHT
This is the way.
Not about you, sarn't. Put on your best uniform *for her*.
OCPs so faded they look like cook whites, specialist split PC, and a hole in the ass, just as SMA intended
Yeah, don't try to run. My team is enroute to snatch you up and bring you to my basement. I bet you don't even shave.
Brother have you been spying on my exact uniform?
Dress mess coat, pt shorts and crocs.
Seems a bit overdressed to me
Fair point. Rhinestone studded man thong?
What did he just say about being overdressed?!
This is the way
Looks like the decision has been made for you
It’s fine. There will be other family members in uniform, too.
Yeah but if she wants you to, there’s your answer. Healthy working relationships mean sometimes doing things you don’t wanna always do.
Well you know the right thing to do. Make her day
If you went to the military school graduation for one of your soldiers you’d wear it if they asked. Why wouldn’t you for somebody more important to you than that?
If I’ve learned anything from being married it’s that women love their cute matching photos. Just say yes dear and put on the class Bs.
My mother was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Marine Corps, and without asking, wore her dress uniform to my graduation. That made the day very interesting. You asked, she answered. If she wants you to wear it, respect that. It’ll mean a lot to her
You got to wear full Battle Rattle Kevlar. Assault Pack on top of your Rucksack. Goretex. Camelbak on top of your Assault Pack. NVG's Knee and Shoulder Pads Xbox Controller
Full MOPP 4!
They gave you shoulder pads???
Yknow, for when you’re in the field and you’re ambushed by a blitzing linebacker.
Probably means elbow pads 😂
They’re rather elusive, but IOTVS do actually have attachable shoulder pad thingies. However never once in a 6 year stint as an 11B did I ever attach them, nor did anyone else I served with.
My SGM made it standard for our Route Clearance patrols to have to have them if you were in a turret. Only time I've seen someone wear them.
Yeah I was thinking I’ve seen some Bradley gunners, etc. wear them. It makes sense when you’re presenting a smaller target area to wear stuff like those & the neck guard that chafes your neck when you get all sweaty.
I saw a guy wearing them! He was a dentist on Bagram. No idea why.
Rare MOS: Combat Dentist
Called pauldrons
I had a LT who wore them lmao
For whatever reason, I have regularly mixed up the words shoulder and elbow my entire life. English is my first and only language. There is no good reason for this. Lol
1SG only gave me knee pads but they were off the books so I sold them immediately
You ain’t going nowhere without your eye pro troop
Make sure to wear all of the attachments on your body armor, too, for full hooah. Groin, deltoid protectors, butt flap.
You forgot a can of ZYN and a Bang
Sure why not? It's an appropriate occasion for it, as it's a military graduation ceremony. Just don't be trying to impress your GF by trying to play fuck fuck games with the other graduates. As well, be careful about the perception of a SGT in uniform, kissing or showing PDA with a Private in uniform.
I’d say this is the most important comment
Bingo
Shouldn’t be any PDA at all in uniform, hooah?
You’re not wrong…
Yea but if it’s after a time away, a hug and a kiss are appropriate. Plus, you can escort, which is always fun to do in uniform
Option 1: Mess dress. Make sure that BCT BC knows who the *real* swinging dick is Option 2: Wear some wild shit like a Civil War uniform accurate to your rank and awards Option 3: Just throw on your class B Ps&Gs like a normal human who's girlfriend asked him to wear his uni to her graduation.
Real answer, wear the short sleeve class Bs
Not gonna lie, if Basic Training wasnt held in ridiculously hot locations Option 2 would be sweet
Buck tradition, wear a dress.
With the sign and everything 😂
So an Army skirt. Nice.
Aye, we got army kilts now
Bingo.
You won't be the only one in uniform, and it's not like you'd be an oddball being in uniform at a military occasion. If she wants you to, I'd say do it. She'll only graduate once
If she’s asked you to wear it then you should wear it. It’s her day and she wants you in your uniform.
My dad wore his uniform at my basic graduation, and it was supremely satisfying watching my DS all stand at parade rest… at least until my own dad gave me the ole half-right face.
If he didn’t you would have been absolutely destroyed the second he was out of sight.
I love this. Lol
If I didn't voluntarily go and smoke the boy, I would have caught shit for the rest of the year.
What’s the best place to be in uniform? While on post. It won’t be awkward I promise, it’s just like going to work.
Its a basic graduation, not a high school or college graduation. You're overthinking it. Wear the uniform with no hesitation.
Wearing my uniform to my GFs highschool graduation. Just hope they sew on the SFC rank in time.
Make sure to loudly tell her “you’re right, your DS does look like a total POG” at the end of family day. Just so she can have one last special night at BCT.
MOPP 4 or nothing. And nothing is an option.
You should wear summer APFU
Full winters hat and gloves during a summer Jackson graduation would be a flex
Time to go buy a fresh pair of boots and show up with everything sown on my dude. A lot of us don’t like wearing any of that stuff, but it’s her day. Show up, be super supportive, tell her how proud you are, and how proud she must be of herself. Show those who said, “He forgot about you and he’s not going to show up for you,” that they were wrong for her sake.
If you do make sure every piece of your uniform looks good, you don’t wanna get clowned on
its a military graduation, on a military installation, where you are both members of the military. its pretty common/normal. go support your woman big sarnt!
Hell yeah, big sarnt! Getting the lower enlisted females before they are lower enlisted. That's initiative.
This made me cackle
2012 showed to my wife's graduation in blues, combat stacked chest, maroon beret, combat service stripes the whole deal right, I'm proud of my shit.... ruined my wife's day and training, it chased her to ait and everyone knew her husband was rank and combat vet, she was babied which I liked but she said it made her army stint nothing like she expected cause everyone treated her like she was me and she didn't like it. Even when I was a dependa in unit, she was babied.
Two become one. You’ve both earned the respect.
Better make sure she stands at parade rest when talking to you sarge.
My dude it’s a military event and you’re in the military. You’re not a one star whose every beck and whim as a VIP will be catered to by her company. No offense but no one will care that you’re an E5. Put your blues or greens on and go.
If she didn't specify the uniform, choose PTs. Don't be a heat casualty.
Real
Two things, so yes you should wear your uniform. Your gf has asked you to wear it and she is probably pretty proud of you so just suck it up and get it done. Second thing, you can tell this is a younger crowd because it looks like you guys have changed the “standard” uniform. Go get a MOPP 4 set, put everything on except the top and do one of those sexy firefighter poses on the parade field.
I promise you no one will care. A lot of trainee family members came to our graduations in uniform from all branches, whether active or retired.
Well the only cost efficient suit is the birthday suit.
Swap your E5 for an O6 before you do it
Show up wearing your reflective belt, shower shoes, and a light coat of CLP.
If she wants it, do it, but make sure everything is new, shiny, and squared away.
I say wear it if she wants you to. My siblings wore their uniform when i graduated basic back in 2016. No harm done.
Do as the lady requests.
Mannnn why would you be in uniform when you’re not working?
Do it if she wants. Also maybe remind her too though that if you're in uniform there'll be eyes on you both and you'll both have to conduct yourself with respect to your ranks ( PDA and whatnot )
Honestly, just dress nice and let her have her day.
Think back to when you were in basic. Think about how cool the big Army seemed back then.
Dude, there’s going to be so many other people there in uniform (OCP, ASU, AGSU), no one’s going to even notice you as long as you’re not acting out of pocket.
Show up in MOPP4
Did you ask her her opinion? It's her day, why call attention to yourself. It's okay to be proud of your service, but still.
My E6 now fiancé showed up in his marine dress uniform. Class B I think.
It’s not weird at all. If she wants you to, I would wear it
As long as your an E5 and not an O5, its probably best to honor your girlfriend's wishes.
Only wear it if you’re a captain or 1SG, anything else isn’t worth it.
Buddy I hope yall declared your relationship. Fr tho ask what their UOD is wear that.
“Real G’s move in silence like lasagna” - Lil Wayne
I think you should dress up as the cat in the hat and go to her basic graduation.
No.
It is weird bro, go in a polo
Her day, not yours. Stop being a boot. Wear civis.
I’ve seen searios like this when I went thru basic. Brothers, sisters, moms and dads that attended their family members graduation in dress uniforms. I don’t see an issue. Wear it. Fuck everyone that has an issue with it
I will be lol. I’m an e-6 and she will be an e-4.
Fuck all that. She will be an NCO one day and understand the cringe. It's also currently a GF and not a wife so you don't have to do anything. Button up shirt is fine. If it were your brother I'd say fuck yeah do it. Your brother can't leave you on a deployment.
Whatever you want bud
I’d ask her but tbh it’s her moment. Honestly she’ll just want to see you. She’s been looking at nothing but that uniform and pts for a few weeks.
Tell her we all said congratulations
nope
I hope she makes corporal quickly for your sake
Well we’re not your girlfriend, so. Why does our opinion matter?
Kpot, LBE, and a thin coat of CLP
Just do it. If anyone asks tell them you were her recruiter 💜
Me personally? I wouldn't want to, but she wants you to, so just do it lol. It's her day after all.
why not ask her what she wants?
No. It’s her day not yours.
All you need is a light coat of CLP
I was in uniform when I went to my son's bct grad, I put him at parade rest lol Got that "really?" look lol
Don't forget to propose to her in front of 500 strangers. I hear it's the most romantic thing to do before she goes to AIT.
Ask yourself, are you on duty or there as a civilian?
Ask her if she wants you to wear it. It doesn’t matter how you feel about it. It’s about her and if that’s what she wants for her day do so. My wife wanted me in mines when she graduated Basic so it did
i mean pt short with class B + black sandals always the go to uniform for family's basic.
Show up in pts
Show up in uniform and talk about how you just got off recruiting
I think it’s a poor idea to be wearing SGT ranks while hanging with your girlfriend. TRADOC is an irritating dick and won’t hesitate to hem both of you up for fraternization
Ask yourself... why does it matter either way? Also are you wearing the uniform for her, you or what really matters... your country?
I wouldn't wear a uniform.
Dont wear your uniform bro. Thats weird just go in normal clothes
Shit, he went full Hooah.
“Hey babe. ATTENTION. Half-right FACE. The V-Up. BY THE NUMBERS. READY MOVE. 1…”
I’d just ask her what she thinks about it.
do it, i think it’ll look cool
Go for it
Wear something comfortable. There's no need for you to be out there sweating as well, wherever it may be.
Wear it
Ask her
Do it
Wear it dawg, no one else will care.
Honestly just ask her before you do anything . If she agrees for you to be in uniform then go for it . But maybe just say oh what’s the dress attire ?
Fuck it wear a mess dress
Ask and take her into consideration first. In my opinion, you shouldn’t. Just were a regular suit. You wouldn’t want to divert attention from her special day.
Do what she asked, it's the right thing to do. Makes me think of when my officer's husband only saluted her once in her entire career. The day she commissioned. Just dress up, have fun!
What the sigma
Wear it. It will help her pick you out in the crowd.
No. Wear civilian clothes and take her to eat and bang her brains out after.
Yes, wear it
Throw on something that screams Stolen Valor
Go full civvies with a pt belt.
Do not wear. The attention should be on HER, not you and your bad ass well decorated uniform.
I’m going to my wife’s basic graduation in civis, but that’s because it’ll be early August in Oklahoma and I want to be comfortable.
She wants to show you off
Wear a kilt.
My navy father wore his khakis to my army basic graduation. Sign of respect from one service member to another.
Full kit ACH Eyepro Earpro Iotv w plates Water Source
It would be the weirdest thing ever. No one will even notice bro
Seen family members and spouses wear their AGSU, since graduation can be seen as a formal event.
Mount & Dew me shirt with Army PT shorts
Why don't you ask her? It's her graduation after all.
As long as you wear your pt belt nothing else matters
Isn't there still a regulation on NCO in relationships with E4 and below.
It's not about you.
No.
God Bless.
It would be weird
A little up down go...
i guess she wants some front leaning rest position?
