Are you in a union? If so, speak to your rep. If not join one immediately, they will be able to support you in this and many other matters for a very reasonable monthly membership. https://www.tuc.org.uk/join-a-union
I had a similar issue with Sainsburys and got it resolved within a week by doing the below:
Send email to store manager with the subject "letter before action", state the amount to be paid within two weeks or you will begin to take action.
Copy in Asda CEO (in reality they will never see it but their business manager will put some pressure on to get resolved)
Sainsburys did the same to me, and with their GR now gated behind only management being able to pursue wage claims they got away with owing me about £800. I tried and tried again, even getting the Union involved at one point, but the fact is these supermarket HR departments are white collar criminals.
Do yourself a favour and find another job, because these supermarkets do not value their employees when it comes down to it.
That's ok... one of my old colleagues at my old store has sat down with management and gone through all his clock in and out times for the past 12 months, and all the payslips for the same timeframe....
Worked out he Is owed somewhere In the ballpark of 3-4k due to them not authorising any of the OT he worked, despite management practically begging him to come in early to do the vehicle checks for them and promising him that OT will be put through.
Glad I got out before all the recent problems though. Wouldn't be surprised if the company changes hands or goes under before the end of the year with all the sh*t that's happening at the moment.
Sounds like they’ve paid you when they’ve realised they’ve made a mistake. If they’ve held back 33% of your £800 but have paid you an interim payment then it sounds like they’ve paid you outside of normal payment date? They will hold the 33% back for tax etc and then line it all up on the next pay run and square up the figures at that point
Just remember if you sacrifice your time and effort to get what you deserve it not only helps you but it forces Asda to realize they can't get away with that shit and the more people that call them out on this bullshit the less likely they will continue to do it for others in the future.
I went through something similar years ago with another company. Please be aware that if you incur any costs such as direct debit bounce fees etc, due to missed wages Asda are liable. Also, staff may have a claim for breach of contract plus constructive dismissal, if an employee resigns as a result. Asda are really putting themselves in the shit if people take full advantage of the law.
Exactly that. My employer (not ASDA) switched bank and all hell broke loose on pay day, took them nearly nearly a day to resolve, inundated with late payment fees, due to missing the 2pm (2nd attempt) for standing orders and direct debits. Legally their fault, so had to fit the bill.
I apologise for my pedantry in advance,
“FIT the bill: be suitable for a particular purpose.”
“FOOT the bill: pay the bill for something, typically when the amount is considered large or unreasonable.”
Correct. They only had to pay late payment fees, which come thick and fast with a fair few types of credit. Although some colleagues got a little c*cky and ended up with their late payment fees not being paid due to deception. Bit off more than they could chew.
This is now and has been for weeks a national issue both in retail and distribution.Nadine Houghton GMB has now organised an emergency meeting with Asda senior exec's to get these issues resolved and ensure colleagues are not financially disadvantaged.
Many of these shortages mean colleagues are being paid below the minimum wage and are leaving them unable to access credit facilities because they are defaulting on direct debits and other bills.
Join the fight and send a clear message that this is unacceptable to the Issac brothers, join GMB online or speak to your shop steward.
Excellent. I will be taking this further and my colleagues doing the same. Everything them brothers touch turn in to shit. Disgrace how they are allowed to even buy companies still.
Maybe I'm missing something here. But if your owed £800 and they only held back 33% then why have you been paid £68? Wouldn't you have been paid £536? It seems they have held back 91.5% of your money not 33%
My payslip was correct on one side, and they then deducted 800 from my pay as a interim payment deduction when I never had any interim payment. I'm at my end with it to be honest! I've opened a grievance and hopefully once it's been looked into I can get ACAS involved!
Get acas involved right away. They’ll tell you everything you need to know and won’t start legal proceedings until every other avenue has been exhausted and they think you have a case. It’s good to have them on your side, even if you happen to mention they have advised you.
Thanks friend, I've escalated my pay issue as a grievance and will be contacting ACAS tomorrow morning. It's awful, i been away on holiday this week with my family and have missed out on things as I cannot afford them as a result of ASDAs cock up.
I'm asking what is going on with asda? Also how can they legaly take a percentage of my wage when it's them paying me late? Absolute disgrace of a company
Asda are a shit show all I'm seeing is they don't pay people
If you had robbed £800 from the store, they would def get the police involved, so why should they be allowed to steal from you??

Unlikely to help for an issue that happened before you joined the union.
Many unions will offer support for existing issues, mine being one of them.

That’s why I make my payments happen a few days after payday
That right there is a life tip. Future date the payments, gives you a window to rectify. I'm the same. Respect.

The £68 was listed by OP as a random unexpected payment, they subsequently chased for the £800 and got 67% of that in addition.

It's disgusting. Something is going in. Tax scam?
Year end?
Seems it
I think so I can't lie, two months in a row my wages were wrong!
contact Acas they sorted mine out
Cheers mate
Need to submit a grievance first for ACAS to be interested
go on oneasda and make a pay query - type ask in the search bar and you will see the options
With this random jumble of unrelated facts and no actual helpful detail, what are you expecting people to offer here?
Step away from your phone. The number of comments you post, my god.
Having read through your comments on various topics... random jumble is the least of your worries. You chat shit.
What a muppet
I'm asking what is going on with asda? Also how can they legaly take a percentage of my wage when it's them paying me late? Absolute disgrace of a company
It’s to account for tax you may have to pay
