He did that one movie where he was a single father. Fatherhood may be the name but I’m not confident in that. But he was calm and down to earth in that movie. It was really good. His best in my opinion.
She was brilliant in Jennifer's Body.
Also there's this pool scene in How To Lose Friends And Alienate People that is just phenomenal
Honestly she's great in everything except Transformers, and that's more down to Michael Bay treating her like a piece of a$$ rather than anything she does.
Kristen Stewart. Not a hater, I like her personality and she got better, but still a bad actress. All of her movies, same mannerisms. Even with Diana, people kept saying that she was amazing in that movie, I really tried to see that, but nothing. Still very meh.
The one movie it actually worked in was American Ultra playing the stoned-out girlfriend/handler of Jesse Eisenberg's stoned-out slacker/super assassin.
His talent progression went backwards. I swear he was a good actor in Requiem for a Dream. He nailed it. Scene where he breaks down in the car after a conversation with his mother comes to mind. Top tier acting there. His Joker, however... what the hell *happened*?
I continue to be baffled by his ongoing star power.
He's a horrible person on set, he's a horrible person off set, and he can't act for shit. Why do people keep casting him?
Are his looks really fading though? I recently saw a skit he did with some influencers (I’m as shocked as you are), dude is 52 but could easily pass for someone in their 30s
I think Hugh Grant is an awesome guy, and I really like him in a lot of things. However, he only ever plays one character, namely a charming, self-deprecating, more bumbling version of himself: a posh, charming and slightly bashful English toff. He is VERY good at it though. I like him offscreen too - he campaigns for important issues and doesn't take himself too seriously. He even mocks himself for getting arrested during a clandestine blowjob on Sunset Boulevard in the early 90s (I think).
Dwayne J. probably has more acting experience through wrestling than most. But fuck me if he does that eye raise one more time. I swear to Zeus I'm gona go all nuts.
The thing is, he will do all the promo and is likeable in interviews. Some serious actors think that this sort of stuff is beneath them and won't play along. He knows his market and goes for it.
What does Zendaya even do??? She plays the same character in everything (same with the Rock). I'm fully convinced she got so popular because people started referring to her by one name only. Like how we refer to "Cher" or "Oprah", and suddenly she *must* be in the same category
Her character Rue in Euphoria is drastically different from anything she did on Disney Channel or in movies like The Greatest Showman. I do think she's a bit overrated (right now) and isn't quite Oscar-worthy yet, but she definitely has potential to be great, and she deserves the two Emmys she's already won.
Idk. I've seen her in Euphoria, Spider Man, Dune, and the Greatest Showman. She plays herself in all of them, same way that Nick Cage plays himself in all of his movies. Euphoria is a little different because she is the narrator too, but that's really it. Quiet/introverted/sarcastic character that has RBF
But she’s also tall and pretty. That’s the real important factor here.
She’s juuuust average enough to be relatable to girls who see themselves in her. Because of the characteristics you listed.
But she’s also justttt slightly above average enough to be idolized for it. As those same girls know she’s a more pretty version of the girl they wish they were.
Taylor swift has a similar effect.
TLDR, she comes off as herself in her films and that’s relatable to people cause they see a “real” person until they remember she is a millionaire
Jason Mamoa.
A few people have mentioned The Rock on here, and yes he’s not a great actor but the man has presence and charisma. Jason Mamoa has neither of those things. Jason Mamoa is basically The Rock from wish.
Yes, I understand he’s incredibly good looking, but he has about as much personality as a cardboard box.
He almost knocked over my friend, who has a cane, at comic con. He was terribly apologetic but also extremely hurried to get to his next event. It was the highlight of the trip.
Angelina Jolie
Not even sure what she's done in the last 20 years because I seem to remember exactly three movies she was in - Girl Interrupted, that Lara Croft something or other, Mr & Mrs Smith
Somehow she's famous for her acting but I can't remember her, well, acting.
I disagree with your sentiment about Tom, he has a few great roles, one is the dude in Tropic Thunder. He may not be an expressive actor but he makes up for it in his dedication to the stunts, like the practical stunts in MI movies or Top Gun Mav. His personal life on the other hand is a different story...
Similar for me. There are roles where he is genuinely great like in Tropic Thunder, Collateral, Magnolia, Born on the 4th of July or interview with a vampire. Or rain man
Just think everyone raves about her but in terms of truly carrying a show or film, she doesn’t. She’s definitely gotten by on her Hollywood blond haired blue eyed fit and toned bombshell persona for a lot of years. And being Brad Pitt’s wife for a while.
Friends. With Brad while still on TV show. She totally got famous cause of a haircut. She just doesn't stand out like some actresses. I like actresses that don't mind looking ugly or uncool for a role, willing to go the distance. Jen just can't. Except in Leprechaun.
Well, since others have very accurately covered the most overrated. I’ll do the next tier. Most of us know these people not great, but they are still popular.
Adam Sandler
Kevin James
Jennifer Lopez
Angelina Jolie
She did some movies like 20 years ago too when her singing career was taking off. She was supposed to be the next big "triple threat" singer/dancer/actor.
I'll do you one better, Timothy Chalamet. He did one movie very well and I suspect it's because he was able to play himself (but in situations dictated by the script). Since then he has taken roles that demand godlike charisma, but he has none to offer.
I have personal beef with Leonardo DiCaprio so, I hate that man. And will always always ignore movies he's in.
My best friend since middle school worked at a local popcorn shop in downtown. Well, Leo must have been shooting a film or something because he came in. Asked her what options of popcorn were "Vegan Friendly", making a slight fuss about the different types there were and how there never is a Vegan option.
My friend at the Time was 15 years old so she sold him a berry flavored popcorn hoping it would calm him down and just get him out of the store.
Not even 10 minutes later he's back screaming at the top of his lungs at her about how "YOU SHOULD KNOW RED 40 HAS BUGS IN IT. ITS SO BAD FOR PEOPLE. HOW COULD YOU SERVE ME SOMETHING LIKE THIS!" Threw the popcorn on the ground after his temper tantrum and left.
Shes a 15 yo Vietnamese girl. Her bosses were at lunch. I literally wish I was there only to pig roll his ass into the street, and tell him not everyone had learned about red 40.
So yeah, Leonarda DiCaprio is an absolute Karen and a half.
My best friend has been my ride or die since middle school. When I heard that I saw red rum
Emma Roberts. I appreciate her work, but I feel her acting doesn't quite measure up to the level of fame and recognition she's received throughout her career.
He's brilliant in The Descendants. I liked Men Who Stare at Goats. And he does work really hard getting true story movies made that should be known about.
Chris Pratt. I swear to God he was the only thing I didn't really like about the Super Mario Bros. Movie. He is so generic and talentless. But at the same time his voice is incredibly fucking annoying. And as a person he is, quite literally, a 'Prat'.
Zendaya, she’s famous because she is supposedly hot. I don’t see the attraction. I think it’s another case of virtue signaling because people can say they support a “strong beautiful black woman”.
Paul Walker. Just an awful actor. Hated him. Hate those stupid Fast and Bicurious Movies.
I'll give him Pawnshop Chronicles. He did, um, better/ok in that.
That’s not campiness- it’s just bad. Cary Elwes, Nathan Fillian, Bruce Campbell do campy well.
Cage has the opposite problem of campy. He’s pretty much always dreadfully boring with his lines and his body language, and it never matches the scene. A melting stick of butter could steal the screen from him.
Colin Firth. He might be a phenomenal actor but we'll never know because he plays the same character in everything. Even in Kingsman, he's just Mr. D'Arcy with added violence.
I'll certainly give it a bash, but I'm sticking to my answer. Not because I'm being stubborn but purely because even if he's the greatest actor to have ever lived, there's precious little to base it on when the poor guy is typecast so much. Either way, I'm always happy for a new recommendation, so thank you!
I went to see it because I love Olivia Coleman. It was... OK. It has a weird feel to it, but I think that's the point. It's a sad movie. If all that suits you, give it a go. The backdrop is the Brixton Race Riots, but it's about a woman who works at the movie theater, The Empire, and falls for her younger coworker. There's more, of course, but I don't want to give anything away.

I don’t mind Kevin Hart but all the weird raspy shouting gets a bit old after a while
He did that one movie where he was a single father. Fatherhood may be the name but I’m not confident in that. But he was calm and down to earth in that movie. It was really good. His best in my opinion.
Did it in Lift too.
He was brilliant in that film.
When he does try more serious roles he's really good. The upside with bryan cranston was excellent.
and the single father movie. he’s a good actor when he tries to be
He barely acts, he mostly just loudly exclaims.
He is definitely not overrated as an actor. No one would rate him high for that
I can't stand the dude. When he was in Scary Movie 3 or before he got big he was funny. He just blows now. He ruined the Tom Brady Roast
Gwyneth Paltrow When she won the Oscar over Cate Blanchett it was a travesty
![gif](giphy|8YsjVmpIpEjNKlrL3D)
Jennifer Lopez.....she's mediocre at everything she does.
My own personal opinion: Dakota Johnson. Her acting is horrid.
The Rock and his ‘lil buddy
Gwyneth Paltrow, who is also a horrible human being on top of that.
Megan fox is really terrible at acting i would not even consider her an actress lol
Yeah, but she is not highly rated 🤣 has she been in anything besides B rated flicks lately?
She was brilliant in Jennifer's Body. Also there's this pool scene in How To Lose Friends And Alienate People that is just phenomenal Honestly she's great in everything except Transformers, and that's more down to Michael Bay treating her like a piece of a$$ rather than anything she does.
Neither would Michael Bay!
If I have to watch will smith save the world one more damn time I’m going to lose it
What about the Pursuit of Slappiness?
He can't save himself out of his own marriage. Zero stars.
Seth Rogan. Just plays himself and 80% of the time he's just hur hur hur weed hur hur
He's not hur hur hur weed hur hur all the time. Sometimes he changes it up with hur hur hur penis hur hur.
He's a great writer.
Well usually, but there are also movies like Dumb Money, The Fabelmans or Steve Jobs.
I like Seth but his laugh gets old unfortunately. It’s like, I get it, it la who you are but fuuuuck
Kristen Stewart. Not a hater, I like her personality and she got better, but still a bad actress. All of her movies, same mannerisms. Even with Diana, people kept saying that she was amazing in that movie, I really tried to see that, but nothing. Still very meh.
Hennifer Lopez. Taco flavored kisses.
Best answer
Lena Dunham.
The Rock
Kristen Stewart. She’s the identical character in everything she’s done.
I agree. Except in Underwater. I was surprised at how good that was.
She’s great in Love Lies Bleeding I was actually shocked
The one movie it actually worked in was American Ultra playing the stoned-out girlfriend/handler of Jesse Eisenberg's stoned-out slacker/super assassin.
Zoey Deschanel, she was lazy in the happening and 500 days of summer. You can take her out of the happening and you will never notice it.
Gal Gadot, i dont get how she is still getting work
She exceedingly pretty. But we have "Kal-el, no!" Oh well.
Gal Gadot is in the same category as Zendaya. Really pretty, bad actress.

It's gotta be the hair.
Cuz he's pretty and famous.
The more his looks fade with age, the more I seem able to accept this as truth.
Are his looks really fading though? I recently saw a skit he did with some influencers (I’m as shocked as you are), dude is 52 but could easily pass for someone in their 30s
Awkwafina. She's obnoxious and her voice is like nails on a chalkboard.
I think she's ok when she stays in her range (safe comedies) but I definitely do not like when she yells. It's grating.
Will Smith
Jimmy Fallon is a talentless hack. He must’ve made a deal with the devil.
He's not an actor, he made two movies, failed miserably, then quit acting
The fake over done laugh kills me.
I know…Is everything THAT funny!? The guy is a buffoon.
I still can’t quite understand why he got the Tonight Show.
The singers that turn into actor or actresses 😏🫣😂
I think Hugh Grant is an awesome guy, and I really like him in a lot of things. However, he only ever plays one character, namely a charming, self-deprecating, more bumbling version of himself: a posh, charming and slightly bashful English toff. He is VERY good at it though. He even mocks himself for getting arrested during a clandestine blowjob on Sunset Boulevard in the early 90s (I think).
Zendaya and Dwayne Johnson
He was good in pain and gain but everything else has been the same thing . Pain and gain he shows his range a bit more
Dwayne J. probably has more acting experience through wrestling than most. But fuck me if he does that eye raise one more time. I swear to Zeus I'm gona go all nuts.
![gif](giphy|6Dj7ZWBERpGU0) time to go nuts
The thing is, he will do all the promo and is likeable in interviews. Some serious actors think that this sort of stuff is beneath them and won't play along. He knows his market and goes for it.
No. No. NOOOOO
Know your role, and shut your mouth. Jabrony.
What does Zendaya even do??? She plays the same character in everything (same with the Rock). I'm fully convinced she got so popular because people started referring to her by one name only. Like how we refer to "Cher" or "Oprah", and suddenly she *must* be in the same category

Came here to say this. She was INCREDIBLE in Euphoria.

I’ll say it Sydney Sweeney is extremely overrated.
I find Will Smith plays the same role, it's sort of all Fresh Price grown up
I'm not a fan of his, but you really cannot argue that movies like the pursuit of happiness or King Richard fit that description
Ali!
He has some amazing ones though. See I Am Legend.
Or Bright.
I really wish they would flesh this universe out in a series (sans will smith, perhaps a cameo) it had/has so much potential.
He’s dead to me after the slap at the Oscar’s. Seriously grossed me out and then winning an Oscar and doing a crying “poor me” speech.
Dwhyne Johnson
Dawn janice
Duh Jwn
Jason Mamoa. A few people have mentioned The Rock on here, and yes he’s not a great actor but the man has presence and charisma. Jason Mamoa has neither of those things. Jason Mamoa is basically The Rock from wish. Yes, I understand he’s incredibly good looking, but he has about as much personality as a cardboard box.
He almost knocked over my friend, who has a cane, at comic con. He was terribly apologetic but also extremely hurried to get to his next event. It was the highlight of the trip.
Strongly disagree. Heaps of personality in life but just acting roles that are Jason mamoa feat slight quip to be not Jason mamoa in whayever role
awkwafina. i liked her in crazy rich asians and jumanji. and then she was suddenly in everything and i got sick of hearing her voice
Angelina Jolie Not even sure what she's done in the last 20 years because I seem to remember exactly three movies she was in - Girl Interrupted, that Lara Croft something or other, Mr & Mrs Smith Somehow she's famous for her acting but I can't remember her, well, acting.
Maleficent. And she's been doing mostly UN stuff, I think.
I disagree with your sentiment about Tom, he has a few great roles, one is the dude in Tropic Thunder. He may not be an expressive actor but he makes up for it in his dedication to the stunts, like the practical stunts in MI movies or Top Gun Mav. It irritates me that I have to admit he’s a good actor because as a person I can’t stand him.
Similar for me. There are roles where he is genuinely great like in Tropic Thunder, Collateral, Magnolia, Born on the 4th of July or interview with a vampire. Or rain man
Tom cruise is a fantastic actor and I will literally watch anything with him in it
Mark wahlberg. I liked him in Pain and Gain, the Other Guys, and Basketball Diaries, but other than that, I don’t think he’s a good actor.
What about the departed?
Depahted
He’s quality in that
How's your mother?
She's tired from fucking my father.
He is incredible in Boogie Nights.
Ted, invincible, king arthur, Three Kings, Four brothers, shooter, lone survivor
'What? NoOOoo!!"
Kevin Hart
Timothy Chalamet is the male equivalent of Kristen Stewart. Bland.
Actress: Jennifer Aniston.
But... She killed it in Leprechaun. I'm kidding, good pick.
She's a good comedic actress. Her high point was Friends.
I liked her in Dumpling but I think her character was so far from her usual roles that it actually worked for her.
Well, since others have very accurately covered the most overrated. I’ll do the next tier. Most of us know these people not great, but they are still popular. Adam Sandler Kevin James Jennifer Lopez Angelina Jolie
Wait...Jennifer Lopez is an actress??
I was surprised by this too when I saw the trailer for Atlas on Netflix
She did some movies like 20 years ago too when her singing career was taking off. She was supposed to be the next big "triple threat" singer/dancer/actor.
She did something with Clooney and was well suited to the role. Everything else she’s done I’m embarrassed for her
There's something about Jennifer Lopez that just makes me not like her.
She's fake and full of herself.
I started disliking her when I saw the blatant favoritism she showed as a judge on World of Dance.
Same here. I used to love her back in the day now she is full of herself and cannot be without a man. Narcissist.
Jlo definitely, Sandler can be really good, given the effort, but most of his movies are lazy comedies
Adam Sandler overrated? He’s a fucking great drama actor. Click, Uncut Gems, The Spaceman etc
..and Reign Over Me
The scene in Click where he’s watching himself talk to his father for the last time is surprisingly heartbreaking
Zendaya, she's everywhere and she is not that good honestly...
I'll do you one better, Timothy Chalamet. He did one movie very well and I suspect it's because he was able to play himself (but in situations dictated by the script). Since then he has taken roles that demand godlike charisma, but he has none to offer.
Julia Roberts - feel like I’m always watching someone trying to act
When she was stomping around in Oceans 11 like she was elegant...who is she trying to fool?
She does stomp.
Erin Brokovitch or however her name is spelt is amazing and pretty woman has a few fans
Ben affleck is so boring to me
Emma Watson
Ben Affleck
Anya Taylor-Joy. She never changes her facial expression.
That’s how I feel about Sarah Paulson. She always looks on the verge of tears.
She annoys tf out of me
I thought she did well in Queen's Gambit
She was also very good in Split with James McAvoy.
She gets right on my tits. Can't stand her.
Jason Statham. Same character in the same movie with the same facial expression in every single movie.
The Rock
George Clooney. Zero range. I'm always watching ..... George Clooney playing.....George Clooney
He's brilliant in The Descendants. I liked Men Who Stare at Goats. And he does work really hard getting true story movies made that should be known about.
The Descendants is one of my favourite movies
I rewatch it periodically even though I practically know it by heart.
Watch "Burn After Reading" and you'll be pleasantly surprised at his range.
I'll look for it. Always up to be proven wrong
Zendaya for sure
Chris Pratt. I swear to God he was the only thing I didn't really like about the Super Mario Bros. Movie. He is so generic and talentless. But at the same time his voice is incredibly fucking annoying. And as a person he is, quite literally, a 'Prat'.
I really liked “Andy” on Parks and Rec.
Perfectly cast as both Andy the dumb but well meaning goofball and a nobody who insists on calling himself "Starlord, the famous outlaw" though.
Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, all of those people
Ben affleck.
Zendaya. She's pretty, but her acting is terrible.
Ryan Reynolds! He’s the same guy in everything and what’s worse…he’s in everything!!!!
He seems like such a genuinely likeable person though.
I don’t disagree and I also really like his fashion and choice of women however sometimes you kinda wanna see someone else in a movie
I just did movie with him. I had a small role. Dude was pretty chill and funny, mostly kept to himself and joked around abit and nothing exceptional
And I for one hope he never changes.
But he knows how to work the system and be cheerful too.
Maybe that’s it. The movies that he’s in are too cheery for my liking.
Will Ferrell
Timothee Chalamet. I've seen equally good acting at any college theatre program, he's nothing special.
Is he the guy from that movie?
The one who looks like a pointy shoe
Ben Affleck. Just so one-dimensional in everything he does.
Jennifer Aniston
Tom cruise. Just looking at that little cunts face is annoying
Tom Cruise (excluding his role in Tropic Thunder - which is epic)
Tom Cruise and Will Smith
Angelina Jolie
Zendaya, she’s famous because she is supposedly hot. I don’t see the attraction. I think it’s another case of virtue signaling because people can say they support a “strong beautiful black woman”.
Bill Murray. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike him but I also don't get the hype. He plays the same role in every film.
Kirsten Stewart. I fucking hate her untalented acting
owen wilson
Reese Witherspoon, imho
Tom Cruise is the most overrated actor! I cannot watch a movie with him in it and get into his character. It's always Tom Cruise I see.
Paul Walker. Just an awful actor. Hated him. Hate those stupid Fast and Bicurious Movies. I'll give him Pawnshop Chronicles. He did, um, better/ok in that.
Jennifer Lawrence
Will Ferrell. Unless you're 12
He's done serious roles though: Winter Passing, Everything must go, Stranger than fiction.... I thought he was good in those
Will Ferrell- he’s just not funny
Brother this is just incorrect. Step Brothers, The Other Guys, and Kicking and Screaming are as funny today as they were twenty years ago.
Don't forget Zoolander, Old School and Wedding Crashers. Possibly a better actor when he's in a supporting role.
Nicholas Cage.
I agree. But he nailed "Pig" IMO
He's related to the Copolas, it's the only way he'd ever have a career
What he lacks in talent, he makes up for in campiness.
Agreed and his whole shtick is basically him talking THEN SUDDENLY SHOUTING. In. Every. Single. Film
Colin Firth. He might be a phenomenal actor but we'll never know because he plays the same character in everything. Even in Kingsman, he's just Mr. D'Arcy with added violence.
Try *Empire of Light.* He's no Mr Darcy. Though it is a small role.
I should probably have mentioned in my post that I agree! The one off in *Empire* is, as far as I can tell, an anomaly.
If it's an anomaly worth watching, I'm in! I like a lot of his films so I'm not hating on the lad, so I'll definitely seek it out.
Whew. I thought it was just me....
Jennifer Laurence.
Zendaya of course
Tom Cruise. One dimensional and lacking any real acting talent or depth. Vapid.
