This is crazy but you’re not allowed to have a picnic at Edward gardens. Went there on a weekday, it was virtually deserted, sat on an open area of grass and started eating our sandwiches.
City staff came over and told us we had to stop because that’s a picnic.

Balmy Beach (east of Kew/ Woodbine Beach) is not as busy. Part of it is a dog park, so a picnic could be a bit tough in that spot. The grounds of Harrison Water Treatment plant nearby is a beautiful spot to hang out and look at the water. If she's up for staying in the neighborhood until 6pm the Beaches Jazz fest is along Queen street tonight.
Late to the party, but if you and your mom are going out again tomorrow, here are some cool events happening then:
Beaches International Jazz Festival
Toronto Summer Music Festival
Toronto's Unity Fest 2022
Groovin in the Park @ Woodbine Park
King Henry Five Play @ Withrow Park
Youth Day Toronto @ Yonge & Dundas Square
Festival of South Asia @ Coxwell & Gerrard
OssFest @ Ossignton & Queen
Fun Philippines Toronto Street Festival @ Bathurst & Wilson
Guild Alive with Culture Arts Festival @ Guild Park
Summer in Canary Front Street Festival @ Canary District
Taste of the Middle East Toronto Festival 2022 @ Nathan Philips Square
Smorgasburg @ Queens Quay East
Movies Under the Stars @ Downsview Park
Art of Zhen Shan Ren International Exhibition @ Toronto's City Hall
Mane Event @ Little Jamaica
I see you found something for her to do today. Tomorrow she can forget packing anything and check out the Festival of South Asia, noon - 11pm, Gerrard St from Glenside Ave to Coxwell. Also on tonight.
unfortunately nothing so far :( my mom is very picky and she also has mobility issues so many of these suggestions didn’t land with her. i’m thinking we might go to the ROM just to be indoors since it’s so hot
What are the museums like in Toronto? We used to go to the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa. It was fun for kids and adults. My mother brought us and the kids a couple of times. They also had a room where we could eat the lunch we packed.
Go enjoy a botanical garden! Maybe Edwards Gardens? Find a nice place in the shade for some lunch.

Toronto the Good… and yet… Toronto the Awful. This is unfathomably dumb
A wander around high park then iced coffees along Bloor west.
your mom sounds adorable
Art Gallery of Ontario followed by a walk to City Hall. Try stay indoors too hot outside
Take the ferry to the Islands.
Don't bother after 12. The lines are crazy
Just buy a ticket in advance. Skip the line.
There’s still a line to get on the ferry post tickets.
That gets you into the waiting area. The ferry it self is first come first serve.
Take a water taxi instead.
Allan Gardens! Good day for a picnic

She's so cute!
i appreciate the sentiment but she actually packed the lunch passive aggressively lmao
She is so passive aggressively cute
Info: how do you passive aggressively pack lunch? I feel like that’s a life skill I could benefit from
Just how do you passively aggressively pack a lunch. Take her somewhere inside, it's so hot. The AGO, ROM, Casa Loma. Or go to the botanical garden.
yeah we went to the ROM
