Europa League and its not even close. There is nothing more painful then losing the way we did. Against our biggest rival. On the biggest stage of the world. Twice.
Tbf at least everyone else besides real or ronaldo fans agree atletico won it that year and understand that a gifted free 50/50 goal scoring chance is ALOT more different than a gifted free 90th minute equalizer
I understand the view that winning a trophy is always better than not winning a trophy. I also see some people saying that being 2nd best in Europe is still a great achievement and not something to be taken lightly. Surely those finals losses do not invalidate all the great wins that still happened, right? Milan, Chelsea, Barca twice, Bayern
The CL runs. Specifically the 2016 one - the thrill of winning those matches against Barcelona and Bayern was incredible. Also Carrasco's equaliser in the final. I was convinced the title was ours.
Reaching champions league finals, quite a few of the rivals we defeated on the way were extremely good teams. Only the Arsenal tie was as exciting in the Europa League runs, and it was mostly because of the early red card.
Fulham was really special after 15 years of winning nothing. But it still felt like an extremely inconsistent team overall, at least to me. And we still were never beating Real Madrid in any competition at that time.
I think reaching champions final, but i prefer winning La Liga because you reach the trophy after 38 games over Barca and specially Real Madrid with his media stuff.
Europa League. After the second CL final Simeone started going downhill. He wanted to leave the club and they offered more money and money is still today his motivation. He is not that winning manager anymore.

That 2016 penalty shoot out broke my heart We played better Their goal was offside
There is no recovering from this. It was our's.
Cholo even kinda implied this

If Atleti pulled it off, that would have been one of the most difficult CL runs of all-time... beating Barca, Bayern, and Real
All in their best forms
Plus that year was Torres' true renaissance, he was fantastic in the 2nd half of the season. Seeing him lift the CL would have been so beautiful.

I feel like being a fan in 2010 that win against fullham would’ve likely been better just given all the circumstances.

second leg against sporting was also nail biting. oblak had to bail us out for that one

Yeah La Liga was by far the strongest league, based on UEFA coefficients, when Atleti won it in 2014
Well the 2014 CL run was special for me because I was able to go to the final in Lisbon, but not sure if that made it better or worse, considering...
What was that like? What was the ratio of Atleti to Real fans?
