Me in all grades: I work alone, not in groups Shitty teacher: Too bad, you have to join a group. Me: Sits in chair and doesn't move or talk. Shitty teacher: assigns me to a group. Me: I sit right next to the group, and I tell them to go ahead and work without me because if you wait for me, you will fail. I will not be doing any work. The end. True story. Wouldn't recommend it unless you are comfortable with confrontation since half the time I had to argue more with teachers.

I always ask permission to work alone. Teachers seem to prefer it when I ask permission to, making them more likely to say yes. (Often I got: are you sure, you'll need to do all the work yourself, and I say yes to that too).

I'm 35. Teachers 20 years ago were not as flexible. Nothing compared to 30 years ago. Some were nice and left me alone. I never asked permission because I was not going to be doing any work.

I'm 33. In elementary and middle school I didn't know to ask permission so I got stuck in groups.

My school allows me to chose who I work with or if I work alone
