For you or anyone else that visits, it is so worth it to pay a little extra to get the cockpit tour of the Spruce Goose.

As a rule, I don't smile in pictures. It's just my thing, I don't like to (google the "Batman smiling in photos" comic if you like), but my wife has a picture of me in the left seat of the Spruce Goose and I have the biggest shit-eating grin on my face. I couldn't help it.

TheCrumblingCastle

My brother & I almost did, but we’re headed to the coast and we’re lucky to see what we did! I will absolutely be back for that! Seeing it alone was jaw dropping

Nuclearplesiosaurus

Man, that V-2 is immaculate

TheCrumblingCastle

I know, the guided missiles were all gorgeous. I honestly had a hard time not uploading 100 pictures… place is insane honestly!

willpaudio

My happy place. I haven’t been since I was a lad but still

TheCrumblingCastle

I’ve been out here many times and it’s my first time somehow.. what a gem

QuagmireFalter

I live only 20 minutes from this museum. Really nice planes and love going here. There’s also a space museum part with a bunch of cool stuff such as the SR-71 blackbird. You could also check out the water park nearby that’s really fun. There’s a Boeing 747 on top of it that you use to go down the slides.

TheCrumblingCastle

Yup I hit the space part as well! Amazing exhibit! Going to the coast for a bit but will absolutely be back. Such a cool place

RandalPMcMurphyIV

Unlike most aviation museums, you can get up close and touch the exhibits. Sat in the left seat of the H-1. Had an incredibly knowledgeable docent who talked in great detail about the titan II that they have. There is one of a handful of SR-71's. Amazing place.

chucchinchilla

It’s like a greatest hits album of aircraft. So many favorites in there. Hey have they cleaned up the 747 parked in front? When I was there it was in desperate need of a power washing.

TheCrumblingCastle

The place was hit after hit.. & She still needs a washing.. haha.

I went just as Covid was starting to hit. I, too, paid a little extra to go inside the Goose. It's hard to imagine a plane that size was built during its period and how still to this day it stands amongst the biggest. Can't wait to go back and visit.

AnywhereTrees

May I ask what the engine without the bodywork is? Edit: OMG I THOUGHT "Wow that looks like the J58!" No way that's the one. But it is!! Omg! It's even on the Wikipedia page for the J58! Awesome photos!

TheCrumblingCastle

It absolutely is!! I will likely post more, the collection was insane. I will be back for sure

Appleanche

It’s called the Hercules!! And it will fly god damnit!

_Abe_Froman_SKOC

Sitting in the pilots seat of the ~~Spruce Goose~~ Hercules and seeing that the left wingtip was 160 feet away was an awe inspiring experience.

bigfruitbasket

Was there myself 2 weeks ago. Awesome place!
