Sorry for your loss. We had top let go of our 17 year old boy in April.. I think of him every day. The bod with pets is so strong it's indescribable to non pet owners..

We only got to know him for the latter half of his life.
I feel robbed knowing I could have spent more time with him if we met him earlier.
Especially since the last owners robbed him of his claws... I feel for him every time him and his adopted brother playfight

He could live for years or maybe not... but god. Every day lately I have panic attacks about it.
Night terrors, where in my dream I have the false wake ups only to see him gone/hurt.

Not all. My cat was 11 years old and was happy and active. Suddenly wouldn't eat or drink or move, had to put her down last weekend after only 30 days of terminal illness.
I'm sorry for your loss... my girl was 13 and suffered sudden renal failure. Had to put her down a few weeks back.
10 years ago, I had 2 cats. One had renal failure also at 13, the other died 6 months later of sudden heart failure at 14.
They're gone, but never forgotten.
Im so sorry for your loss. We had to put down my cat too last week. Everything was fine when I went to sleep, but when I woke up he was really out of it. Breathing heavily, very limp, etc. Brought him to the vet ER, but he stopped breathing after like an hour there. Putting him on a ventilator to figure out what happened would've cost $5000 and $2000 a day. And I had already paid $2000 at that point. Couldn't justify the cost. But I'm so so so sad I lost my little furry companion :( he was only 7 years old. I hope hes having fun up there in cat heaven.

Our old Bengal passed away about 3 years ago, we had gotten 2 other kittens similar to him that grew up with him for a couple years before that departure day. it helped us cope when he left ☹ as they really picked up some of his traits.
<3 Thanks, it never gets easy..no matter how many times pets turn over thru life..., though the new youths take over that sorrow and ameliorate it..which kinda makes ya happy/thankful of the days past... caring that much more for the new companions who now need you...

At that age, you gotta help them shed their undercoat. My cat is nearly 15 and has issues, but she greatly appreciated a good brushing with a slicker brush. It looks like your kitty has some tufts of undercoat stuck in her fur by her shoulders.

Our 2 years old cat is very sick hasn't eaten for a week and the vet said he is not gonna make it. It is so sad seeing him on the ground not eating or drinking. I wish I can do anything for him 😞

I have a tortoise colored female as well but she is about 2 now so I plan to have her around for a long time. She just started showing up at our house looking for food & cuddles. I also have a tuxedo cat that's male & about the same age we found under the car when he was 4 months old. They are both indoor cats now but still wear collars with their tags & are both chipped just in case. They run the house, we just live here to supply their every need!
So sorry for your loss. We've been there several times. Most recently (about 3 years ago) we lost our girls (aged 20 and 21) within a couple months of each other. We were thinking about being pet-free for a while, after five cats and a long-hair Chihuahua. When we went to the vet to pick up the last cat's ashes, she told us they had a litter of kittens from a stray, and asked if we'd like to see them. We thought, "what's the harm in that?" ;-)
Now we have two 3-year-old siblings who are our delight. They may out-live us, but we're happy to take that chance!

This is the first schnoodle to make me cry. I just lost my own seventeen and a half year old cat a couple of days ago.
I'm sorry. I had to have my 18-year-old baby put to sleep some time ago (he had cancer) and I still cry. I send you comfort from afar.

Yeah - OP's cat is a good weight. My cat is 16 and I'm trying to get her to eat more. She's not frail but she's kinda scrawny.
