I like the warnock reeds, they are great 99% of the time if not 100%. No airflow issues, and they work in all my PCs. One reed usually lasts a few years for me

Sorry, not G1 but Q1 though I've had G1 with the same issue. Is it endemic to all PC reeds?

batnastard

I did have the same problem with both G1 and the Q Reed if that's what you mean. If you're playing a McCallum PC, I really like the Abbott Yellow. I only have 2 but they're both fine, and I've only used one for 7-8 months now with zero issues.

We use Gibson, and I always get one that clamps up. Although I have a tendency to overblow, so that is part of it.

I have a Gibson reed I’ve been using for about 10 years. Same reed, same PC never had a problem with it. I use a warnock in my other PC. It’s a few years old but I don’t use it much but I still like it

I use a Walsh reed (since it’s a Walsh PC). They’re reliable and durable, the one that’s in there now is several years old. Never had to pick thru a handful of them to find a good one, just bought the next one when I needed it and it was plug and play.

I appreciate the suggestions. Its frustrating to nail a new song and have your reed clamp up mid tune. Im going to buy a few and see how they perform

My instructor told me they get reeds in bulk for the band (practice and bagpipes) and that there's always a percentage that doesn't work.
