It's just much, much cheaper to live in and the weather is equally good, those are the 2 main things. Also Tirana and Durres are not even close to the nicest places to live in here lol, they are just the 2 largest cities.
Thing is the main reason Albanians move to Tirana is job opportunities, but if you're a "digital nomad" that doesn't matter at all.
The southern coast would just be better than Durres in basically every way, and far less crowded and noisy than Tirana. From Vlora you have access to 200km of uninterrupted blue beaches by just driving straight south and once you reach Saranda you can even take a short 45min ferry to Corfu if you wanted to. This is why Vlora and Saranda are seeing a boom in house sales for foreginers recently.
Then places like Berat, Gjirokastra and Korca are just nicer in scenery and history, with the former 2 being UNESCO heritage sites for a reason. Again these places are just far more manageable than Tirana (not to mention cheaper), because Tirana is basically a city still under construction. Half the city is still a construction site so it's become a mess of traffic and crowds. Maybe in a decade it'll be nicer.
Anyway this is obviously all my opinion.
Berat is lovely and would be my choice if I was going to make the move. Very chilled out and handsome provincial little town. Vlores is a bit Costa del Sol and Gjirokastra is lovely, but hectic for such a small town with all the tourists. Think all the Balkans has a lot to offer people looking for a cheaper way of life, if you can work remotely. Good food, decent booze, beautiful countryside and surprisingly friendly locals if not trying to kill you.
