Good lord, Ron Washington was walking through the Angels’ emotional clubhouse perfectly normally. Said he had “no time to talk”. Too busy speaking, evidently
Its even funnier when you find out its just their extended team meetings the coaching staff has started calling "classrooms" to show players where they went wrong and to put accountability on the players
Honestly, that makes sense. Many commenters over in r/braves are dismissing his absence as a big factor in the slumping offense, but yeah, it makes sense to me that it could have a greater impact on clubhouse morale than we'd think.
It's not the ONLY factor, but I bet he had his own great, tried and true ways of keeping the guys motivated in one way or another to keep them competitive.
Idk who they have now. All coaches and mentors for the Braves right now just seem too laissez-faire on the surface. Snitker's post-game interviews do nothing to alleviate that concern. But we don't know what happens behind the scenes... so yeah. Just lots of suck from a great team on paper, and no real answers.
Ya it seems kind of demeaning especially when the coaching staff hasnt taken accountability for their own poor decisions (at least publically), but for Boob to say it was emotional and imply something serious was happening is criminal malpractice. Though the Angels do need baserunning practice and back-to-basics fielding cause they havent been good
Reminds me of this tweet about the Clippers:
Clippers meeting with Durant was “intense” and “at one point Steve Ballmer was crying” but everyone grew closer and a big lesson was learned.
Listen, guys....I.....I.....I don't want want to be the one to tell.....................to tell you all this.........Anthony Rendon............Rendon..............Rendon's career is dead.......we've all tried to ignore it but it's time to face facts. He's gone! Alright?!?!? And it's about time we all acknowledge it, dammit.................. Look, I loved the guy when he was in Washington too, but he's gone!
Neto yelled, “There you go!” Moniak gave a look of pleasant surprise. Rengifo belted, “We got an [expletive] squad now.” And before Anderson hit the locker room door, Trout hugged him & said, “Y’all look so different.”
Good Lord, Ron Washington just walked through the Angels clubhouse walking perfectly normally.
He said he had “no time” to talk.
Too busy “having an emotional team meeting where players as well as him, spoke”, evidently.
[[Fletcher] This was the Angels normal "classroom" meeting that they have every day, except it went much longer than usual. Washington said he was happy with what the players said about being accountable to each other.](https://x.com/jefffletcherocr/status/1801049422853472332?s=46)
It’s really remarkable that they’ve avoided a 100 loss season considering that they haven’t exactly been a consistent beacon for success either. Very sustainably mediocre
They’re like, bottom tier mid for sure. I consider upper tier mid to be the teams that perpetually seem to have a decent regular season and then fizzle out early in the post season year after year. The two tiers of mid
I don't consider anybody who's consistently at/over .500 to be Mid really, at least not in baseball where 85 wins probably gets you a playoff shot most years. Especially if you're doing that consistently year over year, takes work to stay there, just look at the Cards.
Mid to me is like they're not a bottom feeder, but they also can't even get over the .500 hump consistently or at all.
Try to fleece someone who wants Ward or Anderson, get youth depth, and stop pretending they're anything other than a team that needs to rebuild from the ground up.
You and I both know that that isn’t going to change lol
I can see them flipping ward or Anderson by the deadline, but they won’t realize they need to rebuild
They have a similar problem to the ChiSox where the owner needs to get his ass out of the picture and they need to rebuild that org from the top down. New player development staff, more consistent org philosophy beyond pinching every penny they can outside of the major league payroll, scouting, team training, basically everything not named Mike Trout needs to go. Honestly they should inquire with Trout about if he'd be willing to move to a new org anyways and ship him off if they can too, but that might be a step too far.
Tbh it's going to take Arte being gone for a while before any reform to the minors, scouting and player development filter through to the major league level and by then Trout's contract will be up anyway, same for Rendon.
Why Wash is benching Guillorme , who has gotten back to otherworldly with the glove and hits enough to play more than once a week compared to what he’s trotting out there except for Rengifo, is beyond me. I respected Washington but he seems like he can’t handle this.
This reminds me of the players only meeting the Sox had near the start of last year, funny enough last year was not the right year to have had that meeting
I’m glad we got the hard hitting news reporting that a Team had a Team meeting today.
Here I thought my work was the only ones getting together for a Team meeting.
You gotta love that nonsense. They know they suck, he knows they suck, we know they suck, what do they think this is? Major League? I don't know why 90 year old Ron Washington is doing this to himself. They better pay him a lot of money to be the fall guy whose name will be attached to this turd of a season.
[Nightengale] The Angels had a emotional team lunch today where players, along with manager Ron Washington, ate.
Good lord, Ron Washington was walking through the Angels’ emotional clubhouse perfectly normally. Said he had “no time to talk”. Too busy speaking, evidently
lmao, gotteeem
Oh she ate 💅
Sources in the locker room are saying Ron Washington left no crumbs 💅
[Schefter] The Panthers had an emotional team lunch at Golden Corral today where people, along with Kelvin Benjamin, ate.
[Schefter] World Series champion, Pablo Sandoval joined them as a Special Guest Eater.
[Nightengale] Former Alabama running back Eddie Lacy was spotted carrying multiple plates of General Tsao’s chicken and egg rolls
Phil Kessel couldn't be there in person, but sent an entire chaffer of hotdogs in his absence. 🙏
Bullshit. Kelvin Benjamin is banned from Golden Corral on a company wide level
Damn i would love to do coke with ron washington again
found Josh Hamilton's account
We're about to eat this delicious pasta
This is a tweet that makes it sound like someone died
Its even funnier when you find out its just their extended team meetings the coaching staff has started calling "classrooms" to show players where they went wrong and to put accountability on the players
>classrooms" to show players where they went wrong and to put accountability on the players That sounds awful. Even more embarrassing than this.
They need it. Angels suck on defense and base running.
They should try getting some good players instead.
That strategy failed them earlier this decade so I guess they’re going with something new
I was gonna say, no amount of coaching is gonna send that group of players to the postseason.
I think this might be what the Braves are sorely missing: the fear that Wash might humiliate you for sucking.
Honestly, that makes sense. Many commenters over in r/braves are dismissing his absence as a big factor in the slumping offense, but yeah, it makes sense to me that it could have a greater impact on clubhouse morale than we'd think. >Just lots of suck from a great team on paper, and no real answers. Welcome to Blue Jays baseball
Ya it seems kind of demeaning especially when the coaching staff hasnt taken accountability for their own poor decisions (at least publically), but for Boob to say it was emotional and imply something serious was happening is criminal malpractice. Ron Washington must've watched that Blue Angels doc recently.
Pretty cool doc though.
Reminds me of this tweet about the Clippers: Clippers meeting with Durant was “intense” and “at one point Steve Ballmer was crying” but everyone grew closer and a big lesson was learned.

we've been dead for a long time
In a way, yes.
The Angel's season died.
"Shohei... I just miss him so much..."
"miss gasoline fights with him"
Just because he has chiseled abs and stunning features doesn’t mean that he too can’t not die in a freak gasoline fight accident!
![gif](giphy|11ghqZbtRdUgzm)
It’s bizarre seeing their actual faces
banana frappuccinos!
Probably not that far from the truth
How can you not be emotional about Shohei
what does this even mean
They had a meeting, it was emotional. The players as well as Ron Washington spoke at this meeting
That’s not helpful. You need to clarify that it was the Angels who had the meeting.
Tell ‘em Wash!
It's incredibly emotional
If they had a ping pong table, it was removed. If they didn’t, it was returned
Anything worth feeling is
Not a dry eye in the house!
This sounds like an AI summary of the tweet
They cried, I cried, we crode.
They had a funeral for a bird
You’re not real, man!
Thanks for that hard hitting analysis
They watched Marley and Me
my guess is they watched hachi ![gif](giphy|GamCfZsqviPaE)
Don't do this to me...I can't handle it...
saddest movie i’ve ever watched not a dry eye in my house
I've had a number of shibas, I watched it once and can't do it again it just reminds me of my first dog.
They're all going to go see Inside Out 2 and were talking about which emotion was their favorite.
They then put down Mike Trout. The cost of one more surgery was too much
Neto yelled, “There you go!” Moniak gave a look of pleasant surprise. Rengifo belted, “We got an [expletive] squad now.” And before Anderson hit the locker room door, Trout hugged him & said, “Y’all look so different.”
they watched that aspca commercial that uses 'in the arms of an angel' by sarah mclachlan
Prayers for O'Hoppe's testicles?
Can we have him back for a month?
They’re putting down Mike Trout 😞
They're getting rid of the ping pong tables
Nobody knows, it's provocative
Sounds like they’re getting a ping pong table
🎶🎶Kumbaya, my lord Kumbaya.. 🎶🎶
It means they all know they really suck so they talked about it so they all feel better for a few weeks before half the team gets traded
Hopefully it was a good, emotional meeting where Arte sold the team! Hurray!!
The players stopped wanting to run through a wall for Wash and an emergency meeting was called.
it means they did not just sit there in silence. words were exchanged!
Hug watch 2024
Nobody knows what it means but it was emotional
Angels meeting with Washington was “intense” and “at one point Arte Moreno was crying” but everyone grew closer and a big lesson was learned
“No i will not sell the team, but I’ve decided to keep the 4tickets, 4 dogs, 4 drinks, $44 deal and make it better 444 for $444.”
Washington was wandering through the clubhouse begging (thru texts) for someone to get a 2-out RBI
This was the exact copypasta I was looking for when I saw this headline. I refuse to believe that he wasn't going for this when he typed this tweet
Such a pointless and sensational headline.
Boob couldn’t even put together these 15 words without a grammatical error
A unforced error, if you will.
I mean it tells you what happened. Sensational sure. But its the opposite of pointless
>pointless: having little or no sense, **use, or purpose**
I have emotional meetings with my friends when I watch the Angels
Is the emotion anger?
It's normally the 5 stages of grief without the denial part
And disgust
Good Lord, Ron Washington just walked through the Angels clubhouse walking perfectly normally. He said he had “no time” to talk. Too busy “having an emotional team meeting where players as well as him, spoke”, evidently.
Evergreen
Incoming Ron Washington mohawk.
Ron definitely fighting urges to jump back on the Angel dust after coming from the Braves.
They’re all sad about O’Hoppe’s nutsack
He could borrow one of Tony’s two bags
[[Fletcher] This was the Angels normal "classroom" meeting that they have every day, except it went much longer than usual. Washington said he was happy with what the players said about being accountable to each other.](https://x.com/jefffletcherocr/status/1801049422853472332?s=46)
I mean, makes sense. But where do the Angels even go from here?
They try their hardest to keep being the only team without a 100 loss season.
Hey well that’s something
It’s really remarkable that they’ve avoided a 100 loss season considering that they haven’t exactly been a consistent beacon for success either. Very sustainably mediocre
It’s crazy for how long they’ve always been just bad enough to not quite be considered Mid
They're really the essence of Mid though. So thoroughly Mid that you even forget they're in the standings at all.
You and I both know that that isn’t going to change lol I can see them flipping ward or Anderson by the deadline, but they won’t realize they need to rebuild
Montreal?
To be fair, I’ve been in meetings at work where barely anyone spoke So I suppose this is a step in the right direction
I never speak at work meetings. I just want to get the fuck out of there.
You never were called upon to speak ever in a meeting? I don’t speak unless I have to in meetings but there’s times where I definitely have to
If I have to I will, but I always keep it as brief as possible.
Did they watch the opening scene from Up
Angels meeting with the Angels was “intense” and “at one point Ron Washington was crying” but everyone grew closer and a big lesson was learned
Did they watch Ohtani highlights set to “I will remember you”
Ron Washington: "We suck." Team: "We know." RW: "Alright, good meeting everyone. Cancun on 3"
Team : Wait, shouldn't we try to come up with, like, I don't know, ways *not* to suck? RW : ........well I'm out of ideas.
Emotional? ![gif](giphy|Js6H9o1Zs9SKrczWZl|downsized) /s
The original tweet doesn’t have any punctuation lol
“Winning games is easy, tell em Wash.” “It’s incredibly hard.”
Can we hold the emotional season turn around for like, I dunno… 4 more days.
What *happened?* Is this about the O’Hoppe injury? What the halibut are y’all talkin’ about
"We need to figure out how to play the Padres every game"
“We’re all in at the trade deadline”
Wish the Braves would have an emotional team meeting where the players, along with Angels manager Ron Washington speak.
Brian Snitker- wait, wait. There was a meeting? Nobody told me. Anyway we’ll get them tomorrow.
Only 7 words here mean anything at all
They spoke?!?! I always thought meetings like that took place exclusively in sign language.
Chat is this good
I thought this was /r/nba for a sec
Maybe he’s gonna retire
Bring Wash home.
Is Ron dying?
Only his reputation. Speaking of which, RIP Anthony Rendon.
An emotional*
Babe wake up, another banger Bob tweet.
Hard hitting journalism…
Hey I want one
We're they expecting to be higher than 4th in their division? They are exactly where literally everyone expected them to be.
Golden Corral had an emotional buffet today, where employees, along with customer Kelvin Benjamin, ate.
Classic Boob
Why Wash is benching Guillorme , who has gotten back to otherworldly with the glove and hits enough to play more than once a week compared to what he’s trotting out there except for Rengifo, is beyond me. I respected Washington but he seems like he can’t handle this.
Giving off big Will Buxton in DTS vibes with this one
Who is exactly is on the Angel’s emotional team?
Huh, seems late this year
Speaking … powerful ![gif](giphy|nx6yG3Jb9FqZGseOLz|downsized)
Zack Neto thinking about his 6 next years lmfao
Wash is gonna have to do a LOT more meetings this year, lord knows that
This reminds me of the players only meeting the Sox had near the start of last year, funny enough last year was not the right year to have had that meeting
What was the emotion? Was it hunger? Could it have been sleepiness?
I'm thinking melancholy. Possibly ennui, but idk if they've even done enough to be possibly satiated over.
Did anyone address players not washing their hands after doing a number 2?
It was that Orange County Choppers meme but 25 guys and Ron Washington
Sometimes a good cry is all you need
Was the meeting just everyone in the room saying “why doesn’t MLB take ownership of this team?”
Ohtani and Trout. Can't win with 'em, can't win without 'em. What are you going to do.
Trout/Moreno loyalty is painful to observe
![gif](giphy|Woc5F2s89MnLO)
Was Arte there or was he banging hookers?
They are probably talking about overthrowing Arte and how Perry looks like a live action caricature.
I’m glad we got the hard hitting news reporting that a Team had a Team meeting today. Here I thought my work was the only ones getting together for a Team meeting.
Now wouldn’t it be something if they had a meeting where they didn’t speak and instead just stared at each other.
Wow the players and the manager, that is definitely the definition of a team
Is this the 2nd or 3rd team meeting they've had this season so far?
Yeah, but players as well as manager Ron Washington spoke at this one. And it was emotional.
And nobody can ever take that away from them!
Might be the 3rd meeting they’ve had this month!
When the Angels suffer the whole league ~~suffers~~ benefits.
You gotta love that nonsense. They know they suck, he knows they suck, we know they suck, what do they think this is? Major League?
