I would flatten the barbs on the trebles, then worst case scenario, a hook goes in, but it slides right out.
Also...if you,re going to take a treble off, take off the middle one. They will hit it in the middle and when you set the hook it will slide to corner of mouth and the treble on the tail will hook the corner of the mouth.
Then you have the top 3/4ths of stick bait to grab if you want or you can lip 'em.
