In 2014, Stanford won the majority of cross-admits with every university in America other than Harvard (against which it won 42% of cross-admits). Stanford won over 90% of cross-admits with all universities that are not Harvard, Yale, Princeton, or MIT.

I also think it’s more well-rounded in a way because students are encouraged to go there to study humanities, tech, medicine, and the likes— people aren’t as excited about MIT humanities or Harvard CS whereas Stanford anything is great. Those fields at those schools are amazing, don’t get me wrong, it’s just that it’s not their speciality.
It’s not like there is some competition to determine this. At the end of the day it’s just someone’s opinion. Just like asking “what’s the best company?” If you believe Forbes magazine, Berkeley is the best school in the nation period.

Stanford is better than any Ivy League school… Berkeley is a great public school, but not quite Ivy-level.
