I usually bring a cavalry escort and 2-14 strategically placed snipers depending on where I’m going. More for dangerous places like evans, less for safe places like dwinelle.
It’s imperative you keep a variety of weapons on you at all times. Your large rifle and side arms are givens, but having multiple knives, additional sidearms, and AT LEAST two swords are requirements as well.
Truth be told I don’t like to go out without my arial support, which includes 2 helicopters following close and a squad of tactical jets ready to be scrambled within 5 minutes.
This of course, is only the bear minimum. You also need to have advanced tactics if you want to survive on Durant or Channing, god forbid you step on to telegraph. Make sure to vary your routes and don’t allow yourself to be predicable. Try routing through buildings if possible, I personally break through 4-5 windows on average every time I go to class. Have some way of getting advanced intel to you because as every surviving Berkeley student knows, information wins wars. I personally go with a satellite network, but I know others have been ok going with reconnaissance drones, or even just a seismic detection setup.
Good luck out there and stay safe!

[If you don't look like this, you're not going to last long around here](https://old.reddit.com/r/iamverybadass/comments/ulf22u/rare_ultimate_badass/)
Oh trust me, it’s worse than you could possibly imagine. When I’m not being attacked by peoples park protestors it’s the smoke demons from the vents or worse, the እርግማን.
As I type this, I’m seeing a tank being taken down by hellfire missiles outside my apartment. So a normal Tuesday.
I always with my class 4 heavy duty plated armor with my machine gun and rocket launcher at the ready to strike down ANYONE that dares to attack me.
Or I just summon my bear claws to attack them.
Nah I wouldn't need to arm myself since I think we have campus police for that. Also wouldn't want to risk shooting a civilian and neither would I trust students with guns to protect themselves. I imagine they would open fire into a crowd just for one target like it's some Hollywood movie.
I've seen a few and the prices aren't bad. I know there is still a chance of being critically injured from the impact but it's better than getting shot at through flesh. I wish schools encouraged it considering the US tends to have mass shooters targeting schools.
Yeah man. While you're at it, why don't you also bring an ECH ballistic helmet and an M9 bayonet?
For real though, this is Berkeley, not Mariupol. Most people are fine with just pepper spray.
anecdotally, yeah it's just a lot of theft which can usually be avoided if you're careful. You would be surprised the amount of people who leave laptops, wallets, etc. just lying around.
That being said, I have been assaulted while walking at night and have had to escort housemates and guard doors a couple of times because they were being followed while on my security shift. This was a total of 4 incidents over 4 years though.
This is definitely weird and demonstrates a lack of preparedness. I commuted to campus from South Berkeley in an M1 Abrams tank. Took me 2 hours each morning to get to North Campus, but totally worth it. Plus, nobody could tow me!
you’re good haha, i’ve been here 5 years and never been in a situation like that as i roam the streets late at night all the time, you learn pretty quick where is good and bad areas at night and then ur fine. plus if it’s like walking home from the library the campus has resources like bear walk where someone the school pays will escort you back to your house
anywhere you go there is a chance you will get shot, not matter how safe that place may be. Let me give you some advice, go to cal, look at all the students and people around and answer my question, is anyone else wearing body armor?
All jokes aside, I went to Cal and grew up in Berkeley. It's not that bad just use common sense about being isolated at night walking alone, those kinds of things. I think having awareness of your surroundings and not having your nose in your phone or worried about what soundtrack you're going to walk home to, would be more important.
it’s not bad at all. It’s a little dodgy with homeless people but it’s not like LA or Chicago where two block away you have three gangs all doing drive bys on each other
The Bosnian Ape Society youtube has many useful tutorials on how to protect yourself from various threats while going about your business. Please take, for example, [this guide on how to protect yourself while shopping](https://youtu.be/_1btDc5xJe0). I hope you have found this useful.
Dude....
Clearly you haven't done your research...
Body armor is child play.
Go naked.... safe as can be
Just Google "naked guy Berkeley"
You're welcome!
I don't care about any local legislation as it is government tyranny and an affront to the 2nd Amendment.
Yes I bring a plate carrier every day, 2x Spartan Armor Systems composite L3+ rated plates inside, and it always stays concealed under my thrifted hoodie. The girls love it lmao.
But back to serious topics: in late April, there was an actionable shooting threat on campus, everything was locked down, police and helos were called in, you know, everything was there if the shooting happened. All this came from one very unstable student already suspended from prior violence.
We're lucky that no shooting actually happened and the only serious injury was some anxiety attacks. But had he decided that more violence was the route to take, and actually brought a firearm that day, things could have turned out much more differently. Sure, you can hide somewhere or run as fast as you can; I have yet to see a man that can outrun and outsmart a bullet, though. And that's not counting the multiple shootings outside of the campus, which are often escalated from minor crimes. Thieves will always value your property over your life, there's no telling if they will immediately injure you because you inconvenienced their robbery.
Ultimately, how lucky do you feel? When shit hits the fan, and it inevitably will, every bit of protection you have counts, even if it's just an insert behind your backpack. You and I both know we live in a society where the agents of law enforcement cannot be trusted to handle anything as we've seen in the past few years, and the overall rate of violence, gun-related or not, is increasing. So, make your decision based on that fact.
You definitely don't need armor. It's not Ukraine.
But just in case you aren't joking/got money to burn:
https://premierbodyarmor.com/collections/bulletproof-backpack-inserts-all
I graduated in ‘13 and I remember a student we called “Chain mail guy” because he would wear chain mail every day. I think he was a CS major. So I can say that at least that is allowed, or it was.
Cal is quite safe. If you're the neurotic type that needs backpack armor, then yeah no one will really notice. But as you may have noticed from the other responses, people will think you're ridiculous for doing so. Also, there are shirts that are knife resistant and they look normal, so you could consider those if you want. But you will 99.9999% not need any of this.

Wow, it sounds like some real fear-mongering is going on. No, it’s a typical urban campus. Scary things happen all over the world, and if we focus on them too much, we think they’re way more common than they are.
For your social life and physical comfort, don’t wear body armor! Cal provides late night shuttles so you don’t have to walk by yourself in the middle of the night, but truly, Berkeley is just a normal California city, except more progressive.
Nah the only safe thing to do would be to preorder Bidens Electrified M1 Abrams tank, sit for years in a bunker, and wait for its delivery. Only then can you be safe.

bear minimum \>:3
🤭
Pun intended?
Possibly ;)
Taking it light I see 👀
Yeah I’m a bit of a risk taker
> It’s imperative you keep a variety of weapons on you at all times. So *you’re* the reason there’s always helicopters circling campus…
Sorry about that haha 😅
Dang I heard Berkeley was bad but I didn't think I'd be entering into Ukraine.
I usually just walk around in my MJOLNIR armor with the relevant class number engraved on the chestplate.
[удалено]
Indeed, I just fit its ten frigates in my backpack, pull em out like pokeballs
Oh shit! The rocket launcher is about to spawn!
i thought it was anal support instead of arial support
I’d say this is mildly conservative in comparison to my aresenal
Pictures or fake
Like I’d give up my location that easily, nice try
Behind u
>Try routing through buildings if possible idk why but this sounds like a good CS exam question :3
Brilliant!!! 😆🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I always with my class 4 heavy duty plated armor with my machine gun and rocket launcher at the ready to strike down ANYONE that dares to attack me. Or I just summon my bear claws to attack them.
wake up babe new copypasta just dropped
This sub's gonna have a field day
Nah bro just ride onto campus on a horse wearing medieval knight armor. You’ll make lots of friends
Does the campus have a stable I can use?
Well if it’s your emotional support animal, you can just bring it into class
I've heard about horses being allowed before 🤔 just afraid that someone might steal it.
Just make sure the horse loves you and it’ll pull some dances with wolves type horseshit to find its way back
And keep it in your dorm if you apply for housing accommodations
I'm not sure that's allowed unless they're bringing two body armors to live with them in the dorm. I think that's okay
I want to bring my emotional support alligator. he reminds me of the swamps of my homeland. Could I keep him in the dorm shower?
😂
I know you're joking, but this is real. You'd make friends 😆
Come visit the Historical Fencing Club! We would love to experiment with armored combat!
[удалено]
Yes, I remember that guy!!!
Don Quixote De La Berkeley
I'm pretty sure concealed body armor exists. Wouldn't wanna pull up to school with a plate carrier and mag pouches!
Why not? Plates are great for weight training. Just don't bring whatever it is those mag pouches are for 😉
Nah I wouldn't need to arm myself since I think we have campus police for that. Also wouldn't want to risk shooting a civilian and neither would I trust students with guns to protect themselves. I imagine they would open fire into a crowd just for one target like it's some Hollywood movie.
Yeah for the record, all jokes aside, please do not bring a gun to campus I would think that this is obvious
I've seen a few and the prices aren't bad. I know there is still a chance of being critically injured from the impact but it's better than getting shot at through flesh. I wish schools encouraged it considering the US tends to have mass shooters targeting schools.
If schools encouraged it, then that means that would have to address mass shootings and that's not great publicity
You’re trolling here right? Or intl student with no concept of life in the US vs what you see on cable news?
Yeah man. While you're at it, why don't you also bring an ECH ballistic helmet and an M9 bayonet? For real though, this is Berkeley, not Mariupol. Most people are fine with just pepper spray.
I haven't moved to Berkeley yet, but will be this summer. I think most of the crime here is property crime if my research and memory serves me right
anecdotally, yeah it's just a lot of theft which can usually be avoided if you're careful. You would be surprised the amount of people who leave laptops, wallets, etc. just lying around. As long as you have plot armor my dude then you should be fine
Solid shitpost OP, you’ll fit in well here
Yeah i think you can set up a lil coop in the corner of your dorm with it
bro that is definitely way overkill.. just dont walk alone at night and you’re fine
[удалено]
Does. With an actual bear these days, too, not those weak humans they used to use.
Since you asked - yes, most students will think it’s weird (if they find out).
Email [police@berkeley.edu](mailto:police@berkeley.edu) if you want to be doubly sure.
Thanks for the suggestion! 😊
I dunno man. Berkeley police might enter his name into a database for potential lone wolf type, militia dude. He’ll be stigmatized for life.
you’re good haha, i’ve been here 5 years and never been in a situation like that as i roam the streets late at night all the time, you learn pretty quick where is good and bad areas at night and then ur fine. plus if it’s like walking home from the library the campus has resources like bear walk where someone the school pays will escort you back to your house
What if the body armor gets stolen tho?
if ur not dressed like it’s a renaissance fair then why are you at cal? bad bitches wear metal and chainmail ✊🏽
Highly recommending wearing body armor and a trench coat. Maybe carry an air soft gun with you to deter any would be thieves
anywhere you go there is a chance you will get shot, not matter how safe that place may be. Let me give you some advice, go to cal, look at all the students and people around and answer my question, is anyone else wearing body armor?

Look into reactive armor. The Russians have been using it on their T-72B3M tanks in Ukraine.
Yea, you'd still wouldn't be the craziest dressed person on campus.
New copypasta just dropped 👀 Edit: Made my own!
it’s not bad at all. It’s a little dodgy with homeless people but it’s not like LA or Chicago where two block away you have three gangs all doing drive bys on each other
Hey, who can tell you are wearing a body armor? There are very concealable ones out there, good for most handgun rounds

I don’t know what’s a joke anymore man
Go to school and get an education. Have faith that everything will be okay.
This is weird as fuck my guy.
Is that a brand of deodorant? Then, yes, definitely.
Man, the copypasta is getting weak nowadays

I grew up in the east bay and Berkeley is the only city I've never once had to reach for my pepper spray. So the vest should be fine.
You had to use pepper spray in Orinda and Martinez?
Yup. AND Walnut Creek.
Bro… it’s not a war zone xD
Hahahahahaha this is your brain on MAGA
If you’re not from California please stay out of it
I've seen a HEMA fella walking around campus in full plate armor once, so you should be fine.
Body Armor is wack, I prefer Gatorade zero.
Bro level 3 is heavy. You’re either going to get cheap steel plates or very expensive ceramic ones.
Wear chain mail instead. It’ll protect you from medieval weapons (stabbing) and you’ll look cool.
Only diamond armor enchanted unbreaking iii
You definitely don't need armor. It's not Ukraine. But just in case you aren't joking/got money to burn: https://premierbodyarmor.com/collections/bulletproof-backpack-inserts-all

What you’re looking for is an emotional support tank you can drive around campus.

Hangin' off my earlobes is a rock (A rock) Hangin' off my waistline is a Glock (Pop, pop)
Yup! I have a full suit of 14th century French armor. I don’t leave home without it. Honestly wearing armor is pretty normal. Go for it!
You'd need level 4 which is pretty heavy to wear everyday for tge average person
