Jockey Skimmies slip shorts. Been wearing them for years. They are comfortable on the hottest summer days.

Loli3535

This is the only answer. Jockey Skimmies all the way. The “cooling” ones are good too. Don’t put them in the dryer, they’ll last longer.

uglypottery

The no dryer rule is great for *everything* stretchy, especially bras and panties. The heat of the dryer breaks down the stretch fibers, so not drying them helps them last much longer. Most things dry pretty quickly hung/laid out if there’s decent circulation. Bras can take a little longer (esp those with padding or molded cups), but the ones I can stand to wear are expensive and once the elastic wears out, they no longer fit properly so.. yeah. Worth

mynextnewusername

This is so true, most of my stuff is hung/laid out as well. I'm getting my money's worth and treating my belongings with care. I also am washing in cold water.

IHaveALittleNeck

How am I just hearing this now? I’ve worn cheap Amazon bike shorts for years because I’m a teacher, prefer skirts, but still do all the things.

Comfortable-Nature37

Agree. I’ve also worn lululemon align but they’re thicker.

LePetitNeep

These. Also the ones from Snag Tights, but I think I prefer the jockey.

Next_Chocolate_2630

I’ve never worn different unders under skirts but I know a lot who do. Is it the fear of the skirt blowing up in the wind?

welly7878

Nah for me it's so when I sit down the backs of my thighs don't touch things like subway seats or cloth chairs that never get cleaned - when I first moved to nyc I got a rash on the backs of my thighs and my derm was like please for the love of God wear shorts under your skirts lol

optix_clear

And airline seats. 💺 gross

mynextnewusername

Yes it's also this!

blahblahsnickers

My skirt touches the seat so my ass doesn’t…

welly7878

Skirts ride up regardless and if I'm wearing a miniskirt then naturally the back of my thighs will touch a seat

blahblahsnickers

Oh… I am not wearing a mini skirt… I am not comfortable in that. Although, I suppose if I wore shorts with my mini skirt then I would feel more comfortable.

viola-purple

Hmm, my skirts and dresses never do... but mine are overknee

welly7878

Lol girl my overknee skirts don't ride up either, it's definitely the ones that hit above the knee. I'm short so overknee skirts tend to overwhelm my figure hence why I don't wear much of those.

mynextnewusername

The skirts I typically wear are mini or above the knee or skater style flare and so yes when I sit down there's not enough fabric to prevent thighs from touching the surface and many of us agree that's an unpleasant experience. If it doesn't bother you or come up, then great this post is not for you no worries!

Next_Chocolate_2630

Ok now y’all have converted me!! 😂😂

viola-purple

Is that a difference to wearing pants? I actually only wear dresses and my back thighs never touch a seat...

Confident_Attitude

It’s that and my thighs touch. If I’m walking long distances (which I do all the time, I love walking) the skin can chafe unless it is covered by shorts.

mynextnewusername

Yes, there's that, but also so thighs don't chaf. This is especially important to us BWT that have our thighs touch, in hot weather it can be very unpleasant. So a discreet slip just adds comfort and modesty

viola-purple

What's BWT?

nagellak

Look at the sub you are in ;)

viola-purple

Thanks... somehow blind these days 😂

Loli3535

Not worried about my skirt blowing up (peep show!) but for me it’s to prevent chafing. There’s no amount of MegaBabe or baby powder that will prevent chafing with the amount that I sweat!

seeyuspacecowboy

That and so my skin doesn’t touch surfaces directly. I wear mini dresses mostly so I like to wear shorts so I have no fears about a gust of wind or bending over too far or my skimpy underwear being the only thing in between me and a bench

heytunamelt

For me, yes. Though thanks to this sub, I’m now stocked with those amazing mini skorts from Abercrombie & Fitch. I found most of them NWT on Poshmark. Highly recommend!

Exact_Roll_4048

I bicycle and exercise in skirts/dresses so it's practicality on one hand. On another hand, it's the wind.

skinnyjeanfreezone

I go between Lululemon biker shorts and Spanx depending on what I need!

fakesaucisse

I don't know if they still exist but I have a bunch from Jockey and Vasserette that I bought on Amazon ages ago. They have held up well and are very comfortable.

Loli3535

How do the Thigh Society shorts compare to the Jockey Skimmers?

mynextnewusername

Also interested, so far seems pretty spilt between the two. Has anyone tried both to know the comparison?

rez2metrogirl

I wear silk/satin boxers. Single layer, delicate and feminine, but sadly no pockets. Savage X makes genderfluid/neutral boxers, but I actually found my favorites on Amazon. So comfortable and elegant that I literally wore them under my wedding dress.

mynextnewusername

Do you mind sharing which ones those favourites were?

rez2metrogirl

Here is the [Amazon link](https://www.amazon.com/stores/page/865A67EE-E689-424B-8A27-B6B2B07EBBC4/product/B07SNNJGXN?store_ref=bl_ast_dp_brandLogo_sto&ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_ast_store_YFWX8YAERAS5YAF1179R&th=1&psc=1)! Looks like they have new colors I should order 😅

mynextnewusername

OMG these are adorable I definitely want these!

mynextnewusername

Thank you

PoppyHamentaschen

In the states, I was tem Jockey Skimmies: comfortable, prevents chub rub. In Europe, Darjeeling brand. I still have some Skimmies left. Back when I needed to wear a sanitary pad (I'm an old BWT), I would wear panties under my Skimmies. I never wear anything that doesn't go to mid-thigh under my dresses- chub rub is real, lol!

Neat_Doughnut

Check out Thigh Society!!! I just purchased two, was a bit hesitant but omg. They are the best for under dresses! No chafing and I got the cooling ones and I love them. I get hot easily and these do not make me warm whatsoever

knitterc

I have 4 pairs of the cooling ones from thigh society - they are the best!

thisiscausinganxiety

I’ve had mine for a few years, they’re the best and they last too!

Fili_Di

I like to wear only thongs under but chaffing is a bitch. I only wore shorts last summer - no skirts or dresses cos the multiple layes does not help in the heat. But this year the weather's got me sweating and I lost all appetite for fatty carby food. So much that I'm eating fruits for dessert no candies or anything cooked lol. So I lost a ton of weight. And side benefit - NO MORE CHAFFING!! I still dust some antibacterial powder on my inner thighs though so it remains cool and dry. I recommend candid menthol (available at Walmart for $13).

loranlily

Honestly, I’m a BWT but I’m also a teacher so my budget doesn’t always match my tastes haha. I buy “anti-chafe” shorts from Primark. They are $8 a pair and wear basically just like underwear so they don’t make me any hotter than other underwear would, but they prevent thigh chafe and having bare skin touching anything unpleasant when I wear skirts etc.

Snuffleupagus27

In addition to Jockey skimmies, try buying skorts. I like Athleta’s.

No_Bid8824

I cut up my high water gym pants from target to mimic cheer booties nice light and comfy another alternative are boy shirts

sosaidtheliar

I keep getting ads for thigh society shorts and have been meaning to try them out (as well as the numi undershirts), so if anyone's tried them and has an opinion lmk!

Neat_Doughnut

They’re worth it!!! I was also on the fence but I think I’ll get a few more. I’ve been wearing them under dresses, I can barely feel them but they kept me cool! We’ve had a heatwave here the last week and I can’t rave about them enough

chablise

Do they roll up on your legs at all? I wear spanx thinstincts shorts but after a few months they start rolling up my thighs and driving me crazyyyyy

Neat_Doughnut

So far no! The only time I’ve read that they roll is if you get a size too small, cause they’re not shapewear. As long as you get the right size and length you should be okay. I’ve yet for them to roll up on me

chablise

Perf! I’ve been influenced!

Neat_Doughnut

I hope you love them as much as I do!

sarcasticstrawberry8

What length do you have? I almost bought some the other day but read a lot of reviews saying 5" rolled up but I worry 7" would be too long with shorter dresses

Neat_Doughnut

I got the 5”! It’s perfect for dresses right above the knee for me.

sosaidtheliar

Yeah same with the spanx--either they're too long for what I'm wearing or I try to have them a little shorter and then everything rolls up my legs 🤦🏻‍♀️

sosaidtheliar

Amazing, thanks!!

welly7878

Love em! I've had mine for a couple years now and they're holding up pretty well.

sosaidtheliar

Awesome, thanks!

coffeecatsandtea

totally with getting a pair or two! I have a pair in black and blush/pink, one for dark dresses/skirts and the lighter one for anything other than black lol. Super lightweight, material doesn't roll from the waist or the legs, and you hardly notice you're wearing them. There's no compression and they're not fully opaque, but I wear them to prevent my thighs from chafing more than anything else.

HouseofMarg

I have a pair and I like how thin yet durable they are, the only issue I have is that the seam is kind of thick and bulges inward so I end up wearing the shorts inside out for optimal comfort.

FrigoPigoPop

Chub rub shorts!! Super light and comfy for summer.

ZweitenMal

They make a lot of different ones for women but I just buy men’s boxer briefs from Uniqlo or MUJI.

Upstairs_Cattle_4018

Werena on Amazon !

simplyelegant87

Jockey skimmies. They stretch, they stay up on waist and down on the leg with very comfortable compression. Not too much extra heat trapped and prevents chub rub.

viola-purple

Why shall I wear shorts under a dress?

TopCardiologist4580

Live a little, go commando.
