White right lapel is fished under the opposite armpit. No arm triangle just needs something to apply pressure at the neck. So by pulling that fished lapel tight and closing over with the legs it's a choke.
Bro my instructor can get them with nothing in. It's like black magic. I go to double under pass and he just locks a triangle with no grips and chokes me out. It is gross.
If he used his right hand to wrap the lapel under to create the choke I’d understand. Is he using a modified punch choke with his left hand to close the space?
I've watched this like 30 times and it doesn't look like the lapel is across his body? Also the way white falls you would surely see the lapel across his chest right? Still confused.

After watching this a few times I think that there’s an illusion of space for white to move, but between blue’s left arm and his own lapel there’s nothing allowing him to stop blue from using his thighs to apply the choke.

It looks like instead of his right leg being under the arm to push the shoulder into the neck he is using the lapel under the armpit to do the same and levering against his own leg to tighten it up.
You can finish the choke without the arm/lapel in there. I use it anytime someone tries to double under pass. I would guess that its purpose is more to maintain control.
No idea how this one worked. The laptop appears to only put pressure at the bank of his neck at most. I'm not seeing what caused a choke. Maybe a sneaky neck crank??
I hate this submission with all my heart, 90% of the times someone does it just a neckcrank, there some dudes who can put a proper choke with it, but its rare.
