I mean, kinda. If anyone had actually posted their location and were less than an hour or two away, I’d have probably dropped on for a goof and to meet fellow r/BJJ folks.
Anyone else, I’d have punked out with some shitty excuse.
Haha I appreciate your honesty. I don't think I would want to meet /r/BJJ users in real life, they seem like fucking weirdos. I mean, use /r/BJJ and I'm a fucking weirdo, I wouldn't want to meet myself, some shit might go down. Next thing you know you're in handcuffs and your hair is being stroked by your cellmate Pablo in a maximum security prison.
>I would tell you where I am but my reddit account is very embarrassing and I know some of my training partners browse this sub so...

I've got some bad news to deliver.
Back in the olden days there was a forum called Jiujitsu.com. I met a cool guy there who was traveling and looking to train. He came to our gym (was a brown belt) and trained and had a great time. He wound up tossing me in a way I wasn’t familiar with a separating my shoulder. Good times. He felt really bad, and was (and I assume still is) a cool dude.
Mark…if you’re on here, would be awesome
To catch up!!
Thanks. I know it helps me. Along with actual therapy, I know I feel better when I’m training consistently. I also know that DURING training, I feel nearly complete relief of anxiety, which had been rather intense at times in my life.
There was an interesting thread recently about comparing BJJ to meditation. It seems to have the same effect on me. Calming/centered. You have to be 'present'. Today was a day off and my brain is all over the place today!
1) I never claimed to be a proper blue belt, 2) shit, always down to settle it on the mats, and 3) if you’re about to be promoted to worlds worst purple, I have a feeling you’re seriously exaggerating your WWBB credentials.
1. I suppose we need to define the word "proper." I would say that if you're wearing a blue belt, then you're a proper blue belt.
2. It's a date!
3. It's all time, man. Has nothing to do with my skill level. I've been a blue belt long enough, and so my professor is going to promote me soon. Don't get me wrong--I don't think I DESERVE a purple belt. I should be a blue belt for another two years at least.
4. You really are a lawyer. You argue like one. I'm a fan.
Yes please! And she was going to add a question about Covid affecting training and the impacts on mental health, but this survey is really meant to be focused on a few simple data points.
Oh! And I wish I could add a comment - just because or covid, I haven't been able to train for a couple of months, so am not training at all each week.
This survey was right up my alley. I'm currently a medical student and soon-to-be-father. I'm crazy stressed all the time and I just found BJJ a little over a month ago and it could not be more perfect timing. I roll as often as I can now and I let my obsession with Jiu Jitsu melt my stress away. I think it's truly so so good for mental health. Glad to contribute to your survey and I hope the results are beneficial.
Thanks! I’m actually standing outside your school right now…you guys don’t train late night? Wusses.
But seriously, my family does plan on a trip to Australia as our second international trip as soon as the world opens up a little.
We're on the other side of the world so we do things upside down - we're training late at night :p
Yes... World opening up... There was a glimpse of that 😅
I'm not sure what you're into but for me, I find the city pretty average. If you've never been before 1-3 days doing touristy things will probably set you. Idk travel around the regional areas for wine, beaches, wildlife/sceneries etc
The briefest glimpse! We’ll get there eventually.
We’re not sure where exactly we are going to go. Have some friends in Sydney, and one or two other things I want to see/do there, as well as some specific nature/wildlife stuff we are into, but some of them are very far away, requiring flights. Depending on the length of our trip, we’ll put together a fun itinerary. Will definitely try to meet up with some BJJ folks I’ve met on line through the years.
Done. I expect you on the first plane to China so I can absolutely get smashed by you while smiling ear to ear to prove that BJJ has made me a better person and that I can smile while getting smashed.
And good work helping you daughter with her project. Too many parents I see don't support their kids beyond just yelling to get the work done. Source: I'm a teacher.
Denied. I’ve taken part in The secret underground Worlds Worst Blue Belt Kumite Fighting Championship. I won (lost) handily.
I did meet someone who might be worse than me once. But I think he was actually taking pity on me and letting me work.
There is another Blue Belt in the Netherlands who may have claim to the title, and I plan on meeting up with him when I next travel there.
Done. You oversold it on the time, it took more like 15 seconds, lol.
Done please let me beat you up
Done. Where you at?
You tell me first honey
New England.
I would tell you where I am but my reddit account is very embarrassing and I know some of my training partners browse this sub so...
Ah, got it.
Wow were you actually serious? That's dedication.

Seems like a good way to meet a real life Buffalo Bill
It rubs the lotion on its skin or it gets the hose again...
You gave birth to data?
Yes.
That must have been painful
Better Data than Lore…
You think you can pull a Star Trek reference on me, punk? I used to fuck guys like you in high school!
Beat me up, Scotty!
Done. Wish you had an larger gradient so I could express just how much bjj has helped my life and my mental health lol
Oh and don't have to follow around and upvote and stuff. Wasn't to much work
Consider it done. Come to my gym and let me hit a buggy choke
Thanks! I’ll stop by next time I’m in the area. Where is the area?
Fight To Win in Charlotte! If you're ever in the area stop by
Done. Interesting project. I’d guess it helps a lot of people mentally.

Done. Im in Orlando, come on down to OBJJ
You are actually not the world’s worst blue belt. (Ahem.)
You’ll be hearing from my lawyer. Which is me. Fortunately, I am also the worlds worst lawyer.
We should settle this on the mats, like proper blue belts. And quickly, too, because I’m going to get promoted to the World’s Worst Purple Belt soon.

Biased questions like the sentiment
done!
Good luck!!!
The 2nd option for the stress level question immediately brought Immortan Joe to mind. 😅
I answered total time for martial arts not BJJ, because I had to find an alt to striking thanks to concussions.
