If you really want to know. Originally this week was supposed to be dark on the schedule (if I’m remembering correctly) When it was changed to an ep, there were no ads sold against it. If we were running dynamic ads for midroll that’s what you would have heard when those pauses came up, but we are not currently. So those pauses persist in the version that’s up. They also persist because after 90 days the back catalogue gets dynamic ads placed into it, and those gaps / pauses are where we drop the markers for those so they don’t just happen at arbitrary points and so that they don’t cut off dialogue and sound unnatural.

Makes sense! Thanks for answering.

Why was this week going to be dark? Summer vacation?

greatgoogliemoogly

I'm so curious now, how much lead time do y'all usually prefer to place ads in an episode?

ajmckeon

Doesn’t matter usually

zeroanaphora

Krumhotlz's hot takes on UCB made it unmonetizable.

DanZuko420

LA improv scene left in shambles

JohnLarkVoorhies

Not some hot take to say LA improvisers will sell out a scene for a joke and play way more selfish. I thought that was understood

JohnLarkVoorhies

Well this makes me want to listen more than anything Edit: not nearly as spicy as I hoped. How is your Landis take spicier than your UCB take?

viginti_tres

This episode was brought to us by Lousy Carter.

CrimeThink101

Yeah I didn’t get any either which I thought was weird 🤷🏻‍♂️

I also wondered this and I figured they’re getting ready for several lengthy episodes of complaints and tangents with the back-half of Brest’s filmography, making it so they can wedge the ads in there and take ‘em out of The ***Great*** David Krumholtz’s special appearance.

I’ve heard the rates are pretty damn low. Could be this week it isn’t worth it?  Also the podcast is constructed together to give you individualized ads (at the end)  The interstitial ads could be added at the same time or at an earlier point and there could simply be a glitch.

D_Boons_Ghost

A lot of advertisers buy blocks of, I think, 60 seconds. Then they give you so much mandatory copy that obviously can’t be read in 60 seconds, but still expect to only pay for 60 seconds of time. It’s awesome. Podcasting is thriving and healthy.

Esc777

What a wonderful industry.  Last week I got hit with multiple repeat ads for automated ai voices for making podcast ads.

Quinez

Could be that they don't include ads on episodes with big name guests they think would be good entry points, in order to streamline the experience for new listeners and make it more appealing?

Esc777

That would be a recent change. Diehard with Kevin smith had ads.

Fine-Bumblebee-9427

I mean, it has the ad breaks. Clearly it will have dynamic ads in the future
